  1. I think 4 would probably not want to go to the trouble...
  2. There are also some Chicago folks up for awards... That's the real reason. Otherwise it's a waste of resources.
  3. WJBK is very likely the highest rated FOX station in the country... Selling it would be plain stupid. The same could be said of WXYZ and WDIV as affiliates. WMYD is in a duopoly with WXYZ... Scripps would never get FOX on it or CBS. None of this crazy fantasy stuff is ever gonna happen.
  4. 38 is gonna be shut down in the auction -- that's the plan anyway. 31 is licensed to Ann Arbor so that would be odd. I would suggest just getting cable placement as say 5 or something and calling themselves CBS 5.
  5. Well... News isn't everything.
  6. Usually a similar card with sports scores and the same abc7 NEWS logo in the lower right comes up. Definitely a throwback from somewhere.
  7. No bureau here that I know of... JBK, XYZ and DIV are all so established that trying would be very very hard... 62 is pretty darn low rated anyways...
  8. I don't think they want to spend the money... They certainly could but it's all pretty entrenched with the 3 we have.
  9. Due to some sort of issue the 10pm web stream started at 10:09 using the actual TV feed and this nifty card that we don't normally see:
  10. I guess if they have the money... Though it seems a little extravagant...
  11. That might be kind of cool... I'd hate to see just a live shot on the 10 though...
  12. What's the point of sending someone to the ESPY's?
  13. WXYZ has 4,298 for its version... I'm surprised they haven't rebuilt it in KC yet...
  14. For the sake of balance NBC 5 wants in on push alerts gone wrong: "Severe thunderstorm warning issued Lasalle County". No time and the grammatical error too.. Not a good day to be in a web department at 5 or 7..
  15. I'm on iPhone.. I think you mentioned before you were using android? Maybe there are some requirements that make sending 2 push alerts neccesary?
  16. In fairness Phlager did write it that way but they could have done their alert better than that anyways... "Has strong words for rapper" would have sufficed.
  17. Today's app alert for the webcast: Fr. Phlager tells Chief Keef to SHUT UP!!!!!!!! Watch ABC7 TO GO LIVE at Noon for the latest. What's with all the freakin exclamation points? It's a little less than I would expect from them... It looks... Small market.
  18. The TV equivalent of a pardon our dust sign?
  19. I love WFLD and hope they never change :D
  20. Just watched the clip and he seems extremely ordinary and bland... It works I guess but he really doesn't have a strong presence...
  21. Hosea is basically a glorified fill-in now in the evenings... It's actually a pretty good idea. I think the number of stations able to hold high viewership after a wave of major retirements is small... It's kind of a given that they will lose something...
  22. Even and especially in the big markets no matter the owner they self-promote... What are you talking about?
  23. Do you think there could be any peril to skipping the veteran talent and heading straight for the new folks? I agree it's up in the air especially when you consider how Mike Caplan was dismissed... The logical veteran successor to Jerry Taft replaced by a 30 year old rookie. So the job may not simply be Alan's. What if he is actually happy where he is on the 4 and 6 and as a fill in and wants the early hours?
  24. She's good and she gets the majority of the main fill in duties for Carmen Harlan and street reports the 11 so she's probably least likely but I thought I'd toss her in there too. There aren't a ton of women at WDIV that could take over. The only other option I didn't mention is Sandra Ali... But that's extremely doubtful. Too bad we have to wait several months to find out.
  25. Either her, Rhonda Walker or Kimberly Gill.
