  1. Ruth Spencer is retiring in December after 25 years at WDIV in Detroit. She is anchor of their "First At 4" newscast and the 530pm newscast and does a consumer segment called "Ruth To The Rescue". http://www.clickondetroit.com/wdiv-anchor-ruth-spencer-to-retire-at-end-of-2015/34056520?utm_source=twitter
  2. Not lying... just saving face for being late to the border...
  3. Speaking of cheap.... The hub in Indy isn't always the best... Lots of errors since they opened it...
  4. Ironically they were slow and stubborn at rolling websites out to their stations 15 years ago... They say "innovation is in our blood" but i think it's the slow and stubborn part.
  5. I just wished when they refreshed the shoebox studio they would've replaced the "ABC7 News" branded stuff... He fits right into it though...
  6. Basically nobody... That's more in SNI's wheelhouse anyways...
  7. I would agree that Krashesky is next in line, I think Elgas getting the 4 and 6 when that happens makes a lot of sense from his perspective. Add an entire hour of airtime when the time comes.
  8. There must be a ton of lunatics at both stations then...
  9. That seems like overkill...
  10. It'll be interesting to see how he does... If he slides right into Rons spot though when the time comes that'll be a mistake... 7 has to be really careful in these talent transitions...
  11. Well... If they can't beat NBC 5 they can just rob NBC 5's talent... But you gotta wonder how worried 7 is about competition from 5 now... It looks like very worried at this point...
  12. Also interesting in that article was Paul Meincke's 30th anniversary at ABC7 and that 5 and 10pm Director Jef Kos is retiring after 39 years at ABC7.
  13. That's more her level I think...
  14. Yeah the bosses did research and went with it I think... I just wish she fit the powerhouse mold better... She really belongs on a station with a looser format. Mary Kay Kleist... There's a name I haven't heard in almost 20 years...
  15. I still don't get the appeal of that woman...
  16. What was with the green tint? It was just a normal live shot right?
  17. WXYZ released it's first promo for The NOW Detroit since they revamped the show, changed anchors and made the show all solid news and interviews and nuked the fluff: The kinda-distancing from The NOW branding continues as well. The end of the promo shows the news logo with a "weekdays at 4pm" slapped underneath it. This is something new with this promo and seems to indicate they are trying to connect it with the news operation. It's also the first real promotion of the show since March.
  18. Good lord... At least the fireworks went off without a hitch...
  19. What's glitching this time?
  20. Kacie Hollins has joined WXYZ as a sports reporter. She came from FOX O&O WJZY in Charlotte. Her first night was tonight. She is WXYZ's first female sports reporter.
  21. It always seemed to me like the message was "who let you near a TV station, specifically this one?". The WCBS massacre is kind of infamous though for just the sheer ruthlessness in which it was carried out. Those folks didn't even get to be fired at the end of the day..
  22. So there has to be 8 TV stations in a market to form a duopoly without upsetting the competitive balance under the rules?
  23. I've got the feeling 5 is gonna do whatever it takes to make 7 nervous and eventually 2nd. Some of what 7 does is a little stale so that's 5's opening right there. 7's audience being older doesn't help them...
  24. I won't be redundant and put this in the WGN thread but Jim Ryan who did fill in work for the last 13 years as a traffic reporter at WMAQ and CLTV was released by Traffic.com/HERE/NAVTEQ this week.
  25. They absolutely do... You just gotta hope the right person gets the message.
