Interesting how hit or miss they are with their stations too.
-
Why does FOX bother with news there again?
-
I think they may be developing new lower thirds and other stuff as well.... maybe even more customized (but still template based) stuff. Both the senior developer posting and the graphic designer posting talks about "new lower thirds" and there's even a mention of 3D animations in there. Weren't the existing Scripps stations using Chyron Axis? One would think they are either going to pick one or the other eventually, if that's the case is one product better than the other? Looking at the former Journal graphics as of now they look much more newsy and functional than the vanilla faux CNN V2 Scripps graphics. They also look a bit dated. I'd like to see something a little flashier like that as a universal replacement eventually, albeit with less stacked tabs on the L3's. It's all Renderon there.

Do they still need "HD" on their chopper?
-
I'm glad they finished stronger... my phone nearly ran out of juice so I missed it... was this the main 1017 forecast?
-
I can accept those points too... It just seems like this kind of thing wasn't worked out in advance.... I think that is a bit of a lapse on their part. It would have been less clunky in a more traditional situation like I described above. Cheryl almost looked like an intern sitting there...
-
In all of this it feels good to be right even if that result is absolutely terrible.
-
And that's what I'm complaining about... If this is the future of their coverage meteorologist wise... Not good.
-
Maybe they are walking it back?
-
I hope ABC7 didn't have the best coverage in town... Watching cheryl sit next to Jerry and nod was beyond pathetic... When I said tag teaming was good that isn't what I meant at all... I meant one at the green screen and one on the weather computer with them talking to each other and switching off with the person not on screen chiming in with updates etc. At no point should one be idle and sitting.
-
They are both there so two heads are better than one, especially with more than one storm. Tag teaming is always better when its possible. Have they been breaking into the ABC programming?
-
My only complaint is that they use yellow to describe a tornado watch... That seems unusual. Usually yellow is for severe thunderstorms and red is for tornados.
-
I'm glad they didn't... There's something uniquely WLS about that music package...
-
My question would be: Were these things just experiments? They are pretty nice even if it doesn't quite fit their style...
-
Oh yeah... duh.... drew a blank on them for some reason... as soon as I saw the ws in the web address I figured it out. Thanks
-
Who is they?
-
I wonder if anyone will say anything to him about that? Not sure how stiff they are over there on stuff like that.

Marlaine Selip the EP of Windy City Live has exited her role and semi-retired. WLS is now looking for a replacement EP. She had been with the show since it's inception and helped with it's development. http://chicagoradioandmedia.com/news/7302-wcl-executive-producer-marlaine-selip-semi-retires-exits-wls-tv

WXYZ announced their new team for "7 Action News This Morning" starting Monday: Anchors: Malcolm Maddox (moving from fill-in / 10pm Anchor) and Alicia Smith Breaking News: Jeff Vaughn (Moving from 5pm anchor, I suppose it gives a more solid presence for news and a fill-in anchor too) Weather: Keenan Smith Traffic: Ann Marie LaFlamme (Came as a reporter a couple weeks ago from WXMI Grand Rapids, supposedly "Traffic With A Twist" whatever that means). Social Media / Around Town: Erin Nicole (Moving from Entertainment Reporter, this is a new feature for the show) Reporters: Nima Shaffe and Jennifer Bisram They are going to have different 5 and 10pm anchors starting Monday April 6 along with a new 6/10/11PM Sportscaster. Lots of changes happening. http://www.tvnewscheck.com/article/84241/wxyz-detroit-expands-morning-news-team Supposedly some new promo's were shot for the morning show in New York with the GMA folks this week. They debuted this promo tying their 6pm and World News Tonight together. David Muir even has a few lines. Their set may be getting an overhaul soon too. When they zoom into the circle 7 logo they use the new all blue desk in Downtown Detroit rather than the 2011 main desk logo. I don't know if this says "Monday From 6-7PM" because something new is going to happen or what. I would have thought it would say "Weeknights from 6-7PM" or something. Finally with the departure of WXYZ Sports Director Tom Leyden after 3 years in the job and 10 at the station, Brad Galli is the new evening Sports Anchor. No Sports Director titles have been given out for now. The Now Detroit, 7 Action News At 5 and 7 Action News At 10 On TV20 Detroit will all be getting new anchor teams presumably on Monday as well.

It looks completely correct to me... Most of the O&O circle 7's look off.... Even WLS's usual one is a little odd... This one looks kind of like WABC's without being as off center.

Chris Martinez has been promoted from reporter for CBS 2 to a correspondent for CBS Newspath. He has been at WBBM since 2012. His promotion moves him to LA starting May 4th.

WXYZ revised its social media box today starting with the noon newscast: Old: http://www.wxyz.com/news/region/detroit/family-demands-answers-after-24-year-old-dies-during-detroit-police-traffic-stop New: http://www.wxyz.com/news/body-found-in-lincoln-park-pawnshop-police-investigating They changed and slowed down the circle 7 animation, smoothed out the jerky web address fly-by (it shuddered and shook at the end), turned it from V1 Orange to their traditional blue and replaced "taking action for you" simply appearing with "TAKING ACTION" being spelled out one letter at a time. It looks better just for the fact it's blue if nothing else.

Looks like fun... he can actually read pretty good both inside and outside of character...
-
It's too bad WLS doesn't do press releases detailing its wins every sweeps... I'd really love to see the numbers beyond some quote that they won again...

Jettisoning long term talent always comes with inherent risk so those reactions from viewers to this aren't surprising... The question becomes how many left or are watching less now?
