26 years ago, my favorite GOAT broadcaster said goodbye to The Late Late Show. With After Midnight going away, I thought this would be appropriate to the ending of the first 12:30am show on CBS. https://youtu.be/od-xAkmSRw8?si=f-800Pk1nsnp2Xnl

I'm sad to hear this but after a 33-year run at WCAX, Gary Sadowsky has retired and Jess Langlois is the new Chief. https://www.wcax.com/2025/03/21/so-long-sadowsky/ https://www.wcax.com/2025/03/12/say-it-aint-so-gary-sadowsky-gets-ready-retire/

Reunited and it feels so good... Jerome Gray and Lisa Foronda, both formerly of KHOU-TV Houston. https://mikemcguff.blogspot.com/2025/03/lisa-foronda-and-jerome-gray-reunite-in.html

So to break this all down, the new newscasts will be... Weekdays: - 7-9am (a return from when they did WSFL) - 10-11am - 6:30-7pm - 9-10pm (a return in the market since WFOR had to drop it for WBFS once they got The CW) The 10pm will be moved over from WSFL. Weekends: - 8-9am - 10:30-11am - 5:30-6pm - 6:30-7pm - 9-10pm (News + Sports) I'm surprised they're getting rid of the weekend 10pm. I mean, what will they do with that? Other than that, WSVN must be a bit nervous but ready to compete in what will be a WSVN vs. WPLG market.

TEGNA Broadcasting and Digital General Discussion
TheRolyPoly replied to ABC 7 Denver's topic in Corporate Chat
Now we know who will partially carry Diamondbacks games this season: KPNX Phoenix and either KMSB or KTTU Tucson. https://www.12news.com/article/sports/mlb/diamondbacks/dnp-d-backs-on-deck-diamondbacks-and-12news-partnership-to-bring-games-to-viewers-baseball-arizona-mlb/75-da03b508-623b-489f-9ce8-36ef1fe7f13d This article states that Salt Lake City, Las Vegas, Albuquerque, and Yuma will also see games locally over-the-air from the D-Backs. https://www.mlb.com/dbacks/press-release/press-release-diamondbacks-partner-with-tegna-s-12news-to-broadcast-10-over-the-air-games-during-2025-season?t=dbacks-press-releases- 3705 replies

A low-power broadcaster in TV8 Vail, officially K34QB-D Vail on Channel 45, cable channel 92 (but used to be on 8, hence the branding) is shutting down on Friday after a 27-and-a-half-year run. Why do I bring this up? Because this station is owned by... Deerfield Media. Yes, the same Deerfield is mainly a Sinclair sidecar but has no involvement from Sinclair in this station. It produced its own morning show, Good Morning Vail as Emarsee demonstrates in this video: https://www.vaildaily.com/news/local-vail-valley-channel-tv8-will-shut-down-following-its-last-broadcast-on-march-28/

After Midnight canceled; CBS leaves 12:30am slot
TheRolyPoly replied to Horizon's topic in General TV
Not a big loss IMO. I wish CBS dropped 12:30pm too but they're still hanging to their soaps. It just shows that NBC is still king after 12:30am but also... not much people watch after that time anyways (except for maybe Nightline, EDIT: I think it will go back to 11:35pm when Jimmy Kimmel decides to hang it up).- 68 replies

WBAY is dropping Catchy Comedy from 2.6 next Monday. Don't be surprised if new station WMEI from Weigel picks it up. https://www.wbay.com/2025/03/25/wbays-subchannel-26-going-off-air/

France Jacques Legros is leaving TF1 after 27 years as one of the presenters (mainly a fill-in) of their midday news program, Le 13h (13 Hours; 1:00pm). His final edition is May 9th. Isabelle Ithurburu will replace him as the new fill-in while Marie-Sophie Lacarrau remains the main presenter on the main weekday edition. https://www.ozap.com/actu/13-heures-jacques-legros-quitte-tf1-isabelle-ithurburu-devient-la-nouvelle-joker-de-marie-sophie-lacarrau/649257

Sinclair Broadcast Group - General Discussion
TheRolyPoly replied to Smitha A's topic in Corporate Chat
Oh great. The Scrippscast method that Sinclair adopted has since spread to KTXS/KTXE. -
An iconic figure and titan pillar of Chicago journalism is finally retiring. This Thursday is Walter Jacobson's last Perspective on 720 WGN Radio. https://news.radio-online.com/cgi-bin/rol.exe/headline_id=n46809

Except this is a Scripps station. Nexstar owns WOOD-TV + WOTV + WXSP.

George Clooney is making his Broadway debut on Good Night and Good Luck, an adaptation of the 2005 movie, and a further adaptation of Edward R. Murrow and CBS News. He does talk about Freedom of the Press among other things. EDIT: He gives a shoutout to his father Nick Clooney and to WKRC-TV Cincinnati, which ironically enough, does carry this program as part of its CBS affiliation.

Bingo. Correct. I believe WSVN started their morning news in 1983 as Today in Florida at 6:30 a.m., six years before they would later lose NBC.

Remember Cayle Thonpson from KOMO and The National Desk? His next home takes him fill circle... to Boston and for WFXT. He was a freelancer, but is now a full-time anchor and reporter. https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1033627248579747&id=100057974443555

I'm surprised Hearst isn't interested in this. They may be taking a careful approach and just avoid it altogether.

37 years. What a legacy. What a host. I know this is something we never post but it's TV and broadcasting overall so I'm posting it here. Move it somewhere else if it needs to be. After a 37 year run at QVC, one of its most signature hosts of the shopping network, Mary Beth Roe, has called it a career. While not an overall household name like say Guy Fieri or Rachael Ray, Mary Beth was still a beloved host for the network and you can tell by all the love she received on her last broadcast. This is her last broadcast in full, a two-hour special:

Apollo is looking to sell Cox Media Group. Nexstar and Gray are interested buyers, says Bloomberg. However, there will be conflicts in certain markets if it goes through (for example, Atlanta: WSB-Cox and WANF/WPCH/WKTB-Gray). https://thedesk.net/2025/03/apollo-considers-selling-cox-media-group/

Well, hopefully construction is underway and that they do it fast, or make it a 24/7 operation (outside of hurricanes and whatnot). The 70th anniversary is July 29th, 2026. That's almost 16 months away.

I remember the last major breaking news story WSVN carried... they used CNN, *NOT* FOX. The station is more allegiant towards CNN Newsource than FOX NewsEdge.
-
WESH was the big break Sheldon Dutes needed. However, he's leaving the station. Kinda bummed too since I thought he was great on Sunrise. https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1029082665705184&id=100058103796844

For the first time since 2007 (17 years ago), Tim Drawbridge is back at WNYT. https://www.timesunion.com/kristi/article/meteorologist-tim-drawbridge-returns-wnyt-20233626.php

When WSVN does air a FOX News package for national news, the reporters towards the end always say 7 News, not FOX News. They only showcase and say the FOX brand when FOX is on.

That was wild and I remember that announcement very well. I think today's news though tops it.
