WBMX is coming back home to where it belongs all along. 1974-1988 = 102.7 WBMX Chicago 1991-2009 = 98.5 WBMX Boston (then moved to launch 98.5 WBZ-FM - 98.5 The Sports Hub) 2009-2017 = 104.1 WBMX Boston (replaced the legendary 104.1 WBCN) 2017-2026 = 104.3 WBMX Chicago Starting February 2nd, its coming back home to 104.1 in Boston to replace WWBX. With WSCR-FM coming on 104.3, WBMX is returning to the place that has STILL spent more time in than in Chicago. IMO, it was meant to be. https://radioinsight.com/headlines/335099/wbmx-returning-to-boston/

Speaking of these two... FOX Weather recently aired a special last week, hosted by these two, focused on streaming weather content from digital influencers and longtime broadcast mets. Ryan Hall (Ryan Hall, Y'all), James Spann (no introduction needed), David Reimer (Texas Storm Chasers), and Ben Luna (Tennessee Valley Weather) were all featured on this hour-long special.

Off topic, but that was a bad time in WTVJ's history, yet still good enough to pull third in the ratings at the time (and beat WFOR).

ET and Inside Edition are still on at 7 and 7:30pm, respectively. Not only that, Ginger and Matt also do the traditional 10pm online. I mean, WTH WKMG? You know you got Lisa Bell, right? And she's only on at 5pm? Don't get me wrong, Ginger and Matt have fantastic chemistry, but come on, they can't do them all. You gotta put Lisa Bell in there too in the mix, right?! As of this month, I believe, Martha and Greg now do all WFTV/WRDQ evening newscasts from 4-6:30 and 10-11:35pm. You're right on WOFL, and it seems like WESH has the deepest of benches, which makes it work to mix in their newscasts, same with their morning crew.

iHeart Sports D.C. is now off the air from 1190 WTSD though it does continue on 101.1 WWDC-HD2. iHeart declined its option to purchase the station and as a result, WTSD has gone silent due to financial difficulties. https://dcrtv.com/1190-am-goes-dark/

Wow. For the first time ever, Gainesville will have their own weekend morning news (no I'm not counting WOGX's simulcast of Good Day Orlando from sister WOFL Orlando or WJXT Jacksonville's weekend morning news on Cox Cable). WCJB is launching the Weekend Wakeup on Saturday, January 24th and will air on weekends from 6-8 a.m. Hawah Ezell anchors, forecaster Matthew Clark delivers the First Alert forecast, and Laura Iglesias (new hire, new to the business) delivers the latest headlines and live reports. https://www.wcjb.com/2026/01/16/wcjb-tv20-launch-weekend-morning-show-weekend-wakeup-jan-24/?fbclid=IwY2xjawPXTjNleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETFRWnJpNFVvbkdZV1Azbndhc3J0YwZhcHBfaWQQMjIyMDM5MTc4ODIwMDg5MgABHn0h4BJ9XrkmzmNi3Yan8uU5yrdg-I7jObT5boj0fPygWRT3-zlidPb0Z6d2_aem_g_wEMsZbq63jnQznrgCprw

Today was her final day and here is her goodbye from WBIR-TV. She has not aged a day.

It was like a year or two ago when Kelly Costa left FOX Weather to join WHDH 7. Now, its time for Melanie Black to do the opposite effect. She has left WHDH 7 to join FOX Weather. https://www.boston.com/news/media/2026/01/15/melanie-black-fox-weather/?utm_campaign=bdc_facebook&utm_sf_post_ref=652167295&utm_sf_cserv_ref=6879409364&s_campaign=bcom%3Asocialflow%3Afacebook&fbclid=iwy2xjawpw3mblehrua2flbqixmqbzcnrjbmfwcf9pza80mdk5nji2mjmwodu2mdkaar41lrwib6edt43y4hj7osogkwyu_gvsgbihhaopnjwavhqsn8nupmvkr4wgua_aem_sf6m5bhupplq_c29nghmja

This is amazing KOMO during their longtime locally-owned Fisher days. This is KOMO 4 News at 11am in full from Tuesday, October 4th, 2005 (got the day from a brief Wall Street market check during the news). KOMO legend, anchor and Problem Solver Connie Thompson anchors the newscast. She would join the station in 1974 and spend the next 46 years there until her retirement during COVID in 2020. She is truly one of KOMO and Seattle's greats. You'll also see Rachelle Murcia very early on, who's now the main evening anchor at KBAK/KBFX Bakersfield (since 2015), as well as Meteorologist Todd Johnson, who spent 13 years there at KOMO before leaving in 2008. Finally, Cindi Rinehart, the unofficial Queen of Soaps, gives a daytime soap preview at the end to also help promote KOMO's longtime afternoon program Northwest Afternoon, which ran for nearly 24 years from 1984 until fierce competition from syndicated programs at the time (Dr. Phil on KING, Rachael Ray on KIRO, Maury on KCPQ) forced its cancelation in 2008 (Cindi was the only one there for all 24 years of NWA; KOMO would replace with a new syndie at the time, The Doctors). First News at 4:00 would always air after NWA. KOMO was really really solid during these days. Its too bad Fisher took the bait and sold it to Sinclair out of all companies and now we know how that turned out. Also to note... - KOMO 1000 News, that was a thing. An interesting name but I always loved it before they would add Radio to the name a year or so later in 2006. Obviously, they no longer own it because its now Lotus who has KNWN AM 1000 and 97.7 KNWN-FM as Northwest Newsradio. - The newscast is still an hour-long to this day, and still on at 11am, though I think they once stopped it before bringing it back later down the road. - KOMO didn't own KUNS at the time. Someone else had Channel 51 before selling it a year later to Fisher which would turn the station into Univision Seattle. Its today's current owners at Sinclair who stopped that and turned it into arc Seattle in 2024 with CW programming mixed in. Enough analysis, context, and history lessons here. Here's the newscast in full, local commercials, KOMO promos, and all. Enjoy!

What was 88.1 KDHX in St. Louis is now KLJT 88.1 Worship One. https://radioinsight.com/headlines/315951/worship-one-to-launch-in-st-louis/ However, the spirit of KDHX will soon, once again, live on with the February 1st launch of Community Radio St. Louis (CRSTL). https://www.facebook.com/LOVEofCRSTL/posts/pfbid0y6R22Jt2WPCCMdjVKh3oUCzpH1nDMm1N7NtRXnwtz9ssp3hkbSCLA1GhGa6btHPRl

After 3 decades as one of KNBC's current long-serving reporters, Ted Chen has decided to call it a career and retire from KNBC yesterday. He will now venture into full-time ministry with his Master's in christian studies. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DTjETAxgnpH/?igsh=YTAzYWk5cXp1dTE2

This means that MASN is a fully Orioles network for the very first time. MASN and the Orioles wanted this all along and they finally got their wish.
-
I can agree with that, though I wish all networks would drop the BREAKING NEWS tag for mostly every story that they showcase... when it clearly isn't.

Gray gets another Telemundo affiliate. On New Year's Day, Gray got the affiliation from Delta Media (where it was on KLWB 50.2) for themselves on KNGC-LD 25.2 in Lafayette, La. 25.1 is home to GCSEN, the last Louisiana market without the 24-hour sports network. This is in addition to the awaiting FCC approval of Gray getting KATC from Scripps, KADN, and KLAF-LD from Allen.

I KNEW IT! I knew it was coming. I predicted this years ago on Radio Discussions but hey... better late than never.

Sydney Scofield left WTVD a few weeks ago to return home. Home is Spokane and she's about to do main evening shifts at TEGNA's KREM 2 Spokane. https://www.instagram.com/p/DTb97PuFMyI/?igsh=MWlhaWE1cm15NDl0aA==

WINK-TV/Fort Myers Broadcasting Company new facilities
TheRolyPoly replied to LocalNewsNerd7000's topic in Sets & Studios
Yeah. I posted it too on Out and About but he's dishonest and stupid. Its a sidecar company for FMBC and the McBride family donated to his campaign for Congress last year! (link is there on O&A). -
To the moderators... if you wanna find the WINK-TV and Matt Devitt posts and put it in a new thread, that would be great. I have more to showcase. Is anyone shocked that the McBride family (WINK) donated to Jim Schwartzel (WXCW and Sun)'s campaign for Congress? I know I'm not. https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1483850663740884&id=100063478933238 And boy is he dumb, stupid, and dishonest. Of course he has no role in FMBC but still has a role inside WINK operations because its a sidecar company for FMBC! Boy does he think we're dumb but we can see right through it. https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1483537757105508&id=100063478933238 The scandal continues and I'm all in on these latest developments.

Back on WINK... Nikki Sheaks is leaving the station to join WBBH/WZVN's sister station, WPBF. Her last day at WINK is January 25th. https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1281548090465123&id=100058298310328 EDIT: She spent 15 years as a journalist, the last 10 at my NBC O&O WTVJ and she really did make a mark on the station and South Florida as a whole. I know because I've seen her various times over the years on air at WTVJ. I always thought she was solid. However, this week will be longtime reporter Amanda Plasencia's last and it'll be sad to see her go as she will exit TV news for a job outside of it. https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1264523395493077&id=100058062851149

I wonder if other Hearst stations with local news on subchannels will do the same move (its been done before when WCVB initially launched its 10pm news on Me-TV). Starting tonight, Jan. 13th, KOAT is expanding its weeknight 9pm news, Action 7 News at 9:00 on True Crime New Mexico (KOAT 7.3), to an hour. They have moved Sasha Lenninger, their weekend anchor for the past seven years, to the newly expanded hour.

The experiment continues for Gray's Local News Live on over-the-air broadcast television. I just found out that WBXM-CD Selma, already the home to Telemundo Montgomery and WSFA's sister station, has added the 24/7 news network on digital channel 5.2. I have mentioned three others before that are all in Texas (College Station, Lubbock, and Odessa/Midland) that also have stations carrying LNL on a subchannel. The question is... is this something Gray is willing to take nationally for their stations or just keep it for a select few until its ready for a possible OTA launch down the road?
-
WBBH/WZVN has beaten WINK in the ratings for a number of years now and it looks like that will continue. I see their ratings tripling over WINK with this news.

After a decade at WAFB Baton Rouge, including the last five anchoring with Matt Williams in the morning, Liz Koh will be leaving at the end of the month. https://www.wafb.com/2026/01/12/anchor-liz-koh-announces-departure-wafb/?fbclid=IwY2xjawPSgLpleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETFaQnVNelZxcm9VU1ZpcXQ0c3J0YwZhcHBfaWQQMjIyMDM5MTc4ODIwMDg5MgABHvpEKmSvxpIVE2XSasKlTF-rB9UwZ_ZLseyfMl0rEz5tVgeljwlihIHD3Gvf_aem_8JYoJ2d4hIW3vSwSr3nwYQ

UPDATE (x2) I'll leave this for what it is. From X but it comes from @NewtGingrich. I don't know if all of this is 100% true, but if this is what he got fired for, then SHAME on WINK-TV for doing so.
