It looks like for the first time ever, KSAN will have their own weekday morning and midday newscasts. West Texas Today will air from 6-7am and 11:30am-12pm. It all begins tomorrow. https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1652649092678611&id=100038006093289

Plus Cincinnati, home to Sinclair's WKRC-TV.

It looks like Gray is ending the partnership between WCTV and WTWC-DT2 to provide 7 am and 10 pm news there. However, don't fret because they are moving those two newscasts over to sister WFXU Channel 57 (same timeslots, too: an hour at 7 am and half-hour at 10 pm). WCTV Eyewitness News - The Good Morning Show at 7:00 a.m. and WCTV Eyewitness News at 10:00 on WFXU begins tomorrow, Monday, January 5th. https://www.wctv.tv/video/2026/01/02/two-new-newscasts-coming-wfxu/ Also starting tomorrow, no more weeknight 5:30 news in Bend from KOHD. Instead, KOHD and sister KBNZ will now simulcast together at 5:00, go to national news at 5:30 (ABC WNT on KOHD, CBS-EN on KBNZ), and then simulcast again for an hour at 6:00. Previously, the 5:00 p.m. was an hour-long and exclusive to KOHD, while the 6:00 p.m. was exclusive to KBNZ. https://www.centraloregondaily.com/news/local/central-oregon-daily-news-abc-cbs-schedule-jan-5/article_e6f04c69-76cc-4d77-b46c-bf949d5058f5.html

Yeah. Its clearly Miami if a green screen is used.

I would rather have PBS's rules than CBS's. There's another rule with PBS's values... "I am not in the entertainment business."
-
They will. WLII was an Indie from 1960-1981 (went dark during this time) and from 1986-2002. Granted, times have changed since then, but I think WLII is capable of it, just like the 10,000-ton gorilla that is WAPA.

Speaking of WFTV... After 15 years in journalism and the last four at the station, weekday morning anchor Kirstin Delgado has signed off for the last time. She previously worked at WLTZ, WOFL, and WINK. https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1438783921587548&id=100063678604993

Actually, I got another retirement... the amazing, legendary Beau Weaver. The voice of Good Day Sacramento, WPLG in my market of Miami, KDVR Denver, and others is retiring and was featured on GDS as a result.

Our first big retirement announcement of 2026... WTVT's Lloyd Sowers. This comes from the BIG 13 Facebook group and will be leaving on January 5th, just one month shy of 39 years there. During his time, he's gotten to work with a legit WHO's WHO of WTVT and Tampa Bay television veterans.

UPDATE NO. Turns out, I was wrong. Instead, starting tonight, KDSM will continue to air a local newscast at 9:00 p.m., but it will come from KCCI 8. KCCI 8 News at 9:00 on FOX 17 will air for an hour on weeknights and a half-hour on Sundays (yep, no Saturdays for some IDK why reason).

If you're unaware, Paramount is shutting down all MTV-related music channels around the world, but NOT MTV itself, as the reality crap we all come to hate will still be around. Now that its New Year's Eve 2025, some have begun to shut down entirely, such as MTV Hits in France.

January 8th is Nick Vasos (WDAF Morning anchor) Day in Kansas City as a result of his work with MASL's Kansas City Comets. https://fox4kc.com/sports/kansas-city-declares-jan-8-2026-as-nick-vasos-day-heres-why/?fbclid=IwY2xjawPBUxpleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBzcnRjBmFwcF9pZA80MDk5NjI2MjMwODU2MDkAAR6q4lXgWFXFMNmXfw5vGQ3sHAOXVI1Kh70TMoWM8eRB672RP_dEz5zx8LWo7w_aem_N0YueE0eVZ18mXXvFZGpdg

Its about damn time WCVB Boston expands its weekday noon news to an hour. NewsCenter 5 at 12:30 begins next Monday, January 5th, 2026 with Jessica Brown anchoring the whole hour. Antoinette Antonio will only remain for the first half-hour at 12 Noon. https://tvnewscheck.com/journalism/article/wcvb-boston-to-launch-newscenter-5-at-1230-on-jan-5/

Thanks for letting me know. I'm half Puerto Rican (Boricua!), so this is HUGE news.

Jim Castillo will be leaving KSDK at the end of the year (which is only a few days now) after six years to become the new Chief Meteorologist at KSBY San Luis Obispo/Santa Barbara/Santa Maria. He replaces legendary local weatherman Dave Hovde, who spent 23 years there before leaving a few months ago. https://www.ksdk.com/article/news/local/working-at-5-on-your-side-an-honor-says-meteorologist-jim-castillo-as-he-prepares-to-sign-off/63-bad33423-e3c0-47cc-ac69-86e38935148c?utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook_KSDK_News&fbclid=IwY2xjawO-bxlleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBzcnRjBmFwcF9pZA80MDk5NjI2MjMwODU2MDkAAR4hr4s6xchzbJOVV3UPB4v-PnHvhSLfhc8C_k7TEPVJCR8ILmvz2b7IVBT8vQ_aem_Dq8Oo0zIaSileKDIfKmaeQ

Fox Television Stations - General Thread
TheRolyPoly replied to ColDayNews's topic in Corporate Chat
Could this be the start of a trend? KRIV Houston, which has aired midday news in the 12 Noon hour in some form since 1986, has aired its last midday newscast on over-the-air television. Starting Monday, it moves to streaming only via FOX Local, and moves a half-hour earlier to 11:30 a.m. In its place on OTA television at 12 Noon will be back-to-back episodes of Chattin' with Chelsea, one of their locally produced programs. -
Merry Christmas.

Merry Christmas! It does look like Nexstar is becoming the next group to launch streaming weather channels. After posting on WIAT, it looks like these are two new examples I just discovered: WKBN: https://www.wkbn.com/weather/?ipid=navlinkweatherstream WRIC: https://www.wric.com/weather-update-livestream/

UPDATE He has since passed away. A giant in hurricane forecasting, he was 94. https://www.khou.com/article/news/local/dr-neil-frank-dies/285-26cc29fe-18ee-4e47-bdf3-5039367c021a

Please put Dr. Neil Frank in your thoughts and prayers as the longtime former Chief at KHOU 11 and former director at the National Hurricane Center has entered hospice care at home. https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=912110128139820&id=100080225237074

I'm actually watching it as we speak. Thanks, Reddit!

I'm going international on this one... Great Britain Today, December 23rd, 2025, marks 20 years to the day that the ITV News Channel went off the air for good. This was the final programme:

WHO's long-running nightly 9 pm newscast, produced and aired for KDSM, is being transitioned to streaming. Sinclair will more likely replace the newscast with The National News Desk, as usual. https://who13.com/news/who-13-news-at-nine-moves-to-streaming-a-new-way-to-watch-local-news/?fbclid=IwY2xjawO1zhJleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBicmlkETFpMFZCeGhJeWJFdTJzNG9Ic3J0YwZhcHBfaWQQMjIyMDM5MTc4ODIwMDg5MgABHtqaJ-PYPWbQpSTb_HofBXu8CLYlB1TlYZwr6GDuO3wnJKvIR-XRlN2TBecH_aem_kuaQVMuprD-2245NbCAMDA

Once again, a Christmas tradition at WABC-TV is coming with the 24th annual reading of Christmas messages and greetings on Eyewitness News This Morning. With Bill Ritter now in semi-retirement, he's no longer doing it, so this year, its David Novarro, ChanteƩ Lans, and Lee Goldberg (the usual one) who'll be a part of the broadcast. If you wanna send your message in, here's the link and form to do so: https://abc7ny.com/post/send-christmas-morning-greetings-eyewitness-news/18272088/
