UPDATE (x2) As I suspected, WJAR's newscasts are now being simulcast on the new Coastal ABC. It looks like Karah Bailey (from Good Morning Providence) was the only one (as far as I'm seeing) retained by Sinclair for WJAR. Go to ABC6.com's live stream and its now airing WJAR's newscasts. https://www.facebook.com/reel/3800943630039012/?__cft__[0]=AZZo6LpD4Xnr_phIGhm9eSmFFv210VCtpyHuvl-poURyQbtj-jUyHahUTduHQFw6VhXBFvzurOVeCJJw0MKdNjt6E0i0JRSJoNQThyrKN3X5CM4oefpugqeCFmA_TczfBAXpmnfE0ul8F0Et-FpWXHAcmY9OSqilw4uDzg0PzwGyBFjLVuuq1yCCqUJiojm71AUwUU8ZU2dV-JagN0KT-3AK&__tn__=%2CO%2CP-R

UPDATE They may start simulcasting WJAR's newscasts very soon. I just checked ABC6.com and it hasn't been updated since Friday, WLNE's YouTube page had their last upload on Thursday, and their X and Facebook pages had an ABC6.com story posted from Friday but then, two days later, posted three hours ago (at the time of this post) with a TurnTo10.com story. My thinking is that WLNE's news operations have quietly shut down as of this weekend and could be simulcasting WJAR for local news at any moment now.

Me too! I've watched him since his WKMG days.

And it actually got Newt Gingrich to respond. The REAL Newt Gingrich too. https://x.com/i/status/2010436094068953303 Did politics play a part in his removal?

I am annoyed with this update as well!

I'm shocked. I really am. There must and WILL be more to this story. There has to be a reason for this.

In tie with John DeLuca's departure, it looks like this is the new logo for "WLNE" and say goodbye to "ABC 6" (WJAR 10.2). Its "Coastal ABC" now. They have quickly changed their social media presence to include the new logo.

When you watch ABC 7, you know it for its hard-hitting serious journalism. In the morning, its the same while WGN loves to have fun and poke and make fun at all different kinds. But don't be surprised if every once in a while, WLS does have some fun. Case in point: last night's 10pm news. Cheryl Burton got to wear... a cheese grater hat. With the Bears in the playoffs and playing against the Packers in the wild card round, Bears fans will have every opportunity to hate on the Packers and prove why they should win. Its a serious and bitter rivalry, but its good and nice to see media folks have fun every once in a while in a fun and light-hearted manner and setting and this was one of those times.

7 Skyforce is a Helicopters, Inc.-owned Bell 407 single-turboshaft copter tagged N21CL. They probably do use MetroTraffic in the morning since the last flight logs for N21CL showcase they mainly fly mid-morning (10am hour), midday (12pm hour) or anytime in the afternoon. They fly out of Hollywood's small North Perry Airport. Source: Flight Aware

Yeah. Marlins are out officially, meaning that Scripps can put it on WSFL if they get those rights or... put them on WPXM again. Unless CBS wants to play ball (since WBFS did a limited game package last season).

30 years ago tonight, a refurbished and relaunched version of 7:30 began on WSVN 7 with Kelley Mitchell and Jessica Aguirre. I'm not sure if anyone has heard of it but its called... Deco Drive. An entertainment news program that fits South Florida well. I mean, its survived 30 years at this point. https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1269520051663057&id=100058152218055

I get it. Its not his fault WLNE's news were unwatchable. But in all honestly, he was the last recognizable face of the station. All credibility for that station has been gone already, but whatever was left... Just left the building today. And I'm sorry, but I had to say it that way. I've watched him for years. He was committed to the station, even if it was in last place. He is absolutely fantastic and this doesn't sound like it was his choice to leave... it sounds like Sinclair forced him out so they can get closer to consolidating the news on both stations. I really do hope WJAR (main channel) or WPRI brings him along, unless he has decided to retire as a result.

This one hurts and hurts BADLY. He was THE face of "WLNE", especially within the last decade or so. First Kelly, and now John. Sinclair is EVIL, no matter what anyone else says. This is just one step closer to full simulcast consolidation with WJAR.

After 40+ years at WSVN 7 and the last 27 doing Help Me Howard, Patrick Fraiser has officially retired, but the franchise will continue with Brandon Beyer taking over with Broward County public defender Howard Finkelstein. https://wsvn.com/news/help-me-howard/help-me-howard-final-episode-for/

You know how the WGN Morning News keeps an eye on the TV industry. This morning, they held auditions for their new Morning News voiceover, now that Jim Cutler and that other V/O have been replaced.

It looks like WISH-TV has cancelled All Indiana at 4pm after a few years plus the two Focus shows they had at 3 and 3:30pm. Instead, as of yesterday, its another edition of Life.Style.Live! at 3pm (NEW too) followed by the new hour-long News 8 at 4:00. https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1467118608753144&id=100063650557055

ABC 7 Eyewitness News thread
TheRolyPoly replied to bogusabc7breakingnews's topic in Los Angeles News
That still makes no sense to me. Look at WPB for example. WPEC used Eyewitness News until 1998, at which by then, WPBF picked it up and used it until like 2000 or 2001, I believe. Its either that KGO doesn't want to use it or that KPIX still have local rights to the trademark or something like that. -
Only spent two years at "WLNE" but this week is Kristina Shalhoup's last. It looks like the last of the consolidation on the weather side between it and WJAR is about to be complete. https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1242958934316103&id=100058060239887

Outside of a year-long hiatus to anchor mornings at WKYC Cleveland back in 2008, Abby Ham has been at WBIR-TV Knoxville since 2006. What an impact Abby has made to mornings in East Tennessee which is hard to hear that today, she's announcing that she's leaving WBIR again and sounds like for good after an amazing 20-year run. Her final day is January 16th. https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1413583643455358&id=100044112082475

Wow. Umm... this one hits home, since I lived in Gainesville for almost three years. Former WCJB-TV 20 Chief Meteorologist Bill Quinlan has passed away after suffering from an unexpected heart attack. He was only 64. Spent 27 years there before leaving in late 2024, but was the chief at WCJB during my time living there so its sad to hear this now. https://www.wcjb.com/2026/01/05/former-tv20-chief-meteorologist-bill-quinlan-dies/?fbclid=IwY2xjawPJhBtleHRuA2FlbQIxMQBzcnRjBmFwcF9pZA80MDk5NjI2MjMwODU2MDkAAR5T7eIRCDsL6XUXy6xLSDlaHrEgLP_6sOXkNijOLtrpKwCcuYgZQWTv6A-2qA_aem_zeXKHVsgMV9KLh_jZxKf_Q

I'll break this down... Whatever it was before Meredith owned them... WHAE from 1971-1977 (CBN; Independent) WANX from 1977-1984 (CBN; Independent) WGNX from 1984-1998 (Tribune from 1984-1998; Independent until 1994, then CBS), the most famous era before all the Meredith stuff came through. Meredith's ownership... WGNX from 1998-2000 (CBS Atlanta - WGNX 46) WGCL from 2000-2021 (CBS Atlanta, Clear TV, CBS 46 - Atlanta's NewsChannel, CBS 46, CBS Atlanta, CBS 46, you know the mess) Gray's ownership... WGCL from 2021-2022 (CBS 46 during the transitional phase) WANF from 2022-present (Atlanta News First; CBS until 2025, back to being an Independent) I know... no bullet lists, but a point had to be made. I hope you enjoyed this little history lesson.

IMO, she will win that lawsuit and will be much happier at WSMV.
