  1. WPLG was inconsistent in rolling out new everything (except for music). New set came first, then new opens, and just within the last week or so, new graphics. Now I'm not saying that's the right or wrong way to do, but WPLG was inconsistent. At least WSVN's new everything back in 2015 launched everything new at the same time: new Newsplex at the time, new version of its music, new graphics, new opens, new everything. WPLG wasn't ready to launch everything obviously and it clearly showed over the last month or two.
  2. Y'all. That's it for Cindy Preszler. The trailblazing meteorologist has made Miami her last stop on her career. She is retiring after a legendary 42-year career that includes stops at TWC (the first woman to track a landfalling hurricane in TWC's history), KSDK (her longest stop of her career), WFTX, and in my home market at WFOR. https://www.linkedin.com/posts/cindy-preszler_big-news-after-more-than-four-decades-working-ugcPost-7239620719179968512-TQPg?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_android
  3. Umm... it looks like the PAC-12 could be coming back from the dead. For those wondering about the logos, that's Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, and San Diego State. (via a report shared by Yahoo Sports on FB)
  4. Obituaries are popping up on TV again and WLNS is doing so, three times daily. https://www.facebook.com/WLNSTV/videos/1721789708604870
  5. * Linnert. That's a surprise. She's been there for what seemed like forever but its been 18 years at WOOD and she spent 6 before that at WLNS.
  6. KTXL Sacramento is going the opposite direction in terms of the morning... they're starting earlier to 4:00am. Meanwhile, Studio 40 Live moves to 10:00am and the midday news shrinks to a half-hour. https://fox40.com/news/local-news/fox40-news-studio-40-live-changes-september-2024/
  7. An exceptional guest has returned to WGN-TV to celebrate 30 years of the Morning News, a broadcast he was never a part of but became more famous because of one legendary bit...
  8. 70 years of KOVR 13. They've been riding high ever since CBS took over and are now constantly getting into the top two of ratings in the market (obviously KCRA is the 1,000-lb gorilla that nobody else can touch).
  9. David Heckard is back on Orlando television. He previously spent time at Spectrum News 13 before leaving to join WJXT Jacksonville. I'm unaware that he left that station as he's now joining Tom Terry's team of meteorologists at WFTV Orlando. https://www.facebook.com/TomTerryWFTV/posts/pfbid02HiYwYXZHBhAWKBRp9f8K2ew4V5hRZDHBUZiPRL3UqQzacVmraVsRh9fUsGRo5vPhl
  10. The ghost of KidsClick has bit Sinclair, their sidecars, and six of Nexstar's stations in the ass when they least expected it. Fines have hit Sinclair, all of their sidecar stations, and Nexstar's KDVR Denver, KIAH Houston, KTLA Los Angeles, KTXL Sacramento, WGN-TV Chicago, and WGNO New Orleans for a program-length Hot Wheels commercial during the kids program Team Hot Wheels. TL;DR - Sinclair has to pay up $2.65 million, Nexstar's six stations have to pay up $26,000 each, and Sinclair's sidecars have to pay up $20,000 each. All in all, its a combined $3.3 million fine. https://docs.fcc.gov/public/attachments/FCC-24-88A1.pdf
  11. https://506sports.com/ once again breaking down maps for the upcoming season in terms of TV coverage and its freaking amazing. Here are some updates though for Week 1 (I'm only doing week 1 as an example)... Yes, tonight's game in Brazil is only available on Peacock, unless you live in Green Bay (WGBA), Milwaukee (WTMJ), or Philadelphia (WCAU). FOX has the doubleheader this week to kick off the season: FOX Early Houston (KRIV) and Panama City (WPGX) switched on Thursday from the Steelers and Falcons to the Panthers and Saints. Providence (WNAC), Springfield, Mass. (WGGB.2); Portland (WPFO), Bangor (WFVX), Scranton (WOLF), El Paso (KFOX), FOX Alaska (KTBY/KATN.2/KJUD.3), and all Montana FOX affiliates switched on Thursday from the Steelers and Falcons to the Vikings and Giants. Des Moines (KDSM) switched on Thursday from the Vikings and Giants to the Titans and Bears. FOX Late Tallahassee (WTWC.2) and Baton Rouge (WGMB) switched on Thursday from Cowboys and Brows to Commanders and Buccaneers.
  12. I just checked TV listings... The ARC brand has been expanded to Chattanooga on WTVC 9.2 - FOX Chattanooga. ARC Chattanooga airs from 8:00-9:00 a.m. The brand also expanded to Rochester on WUHF but airs from 8:00-10:00 a.m., expanding their morning news to five hours (5:00-7:00 a.m. WHAM and 7:00-10:00 a.m. WUHF).
  13. Here's something you don't hear much of anymore... CIII Global Toronto is expanding its newscasts. They're going 90 straight minutes starting at 5:00 p.m. starting Sept. 16th. TL;DR because I was unaware of some changes until now at CIII: Alan Carter has left the station in July after a 25-year run. Antony Robart moves from their morning to the new 5:00 p.m. news and will co-anchor with Tracy Tong at 6:00 while she remains solo at 11:00 p.m. Miranda Anthistle will now handle national news during their morning news and joining Candace Daniel on the broadcast. Finally, ex-CTV weekend anchor and current Queen's Park Bureau Chief Colin D'Mello will host Focus Ontario, taking over from Alan Carter. https://broadcastdialogue.com/global-news-toronto-to-add-half-hour-to-early-evening-newscast/
  14. Since The Buffalo News is on a paywall, I used this link to go around that... Another new newscast from another TEGNA station and... Buffalo's third 7:00 p.m. newscast starting next week. https://clearthis.page/?u=https://buffalonews.com/life-entertainment/local/movies-tv/wgrz-7-pm-newscast-maryalice-demler-dan-russell/article_86a5f15c-69f8-11ef-ac57-433bcdcf2cf4.html
  15. Scrippscast has arrived at WTVR Richmond. Its Noon and 7:30pm newscasts are its first casualties and just by watching this, you can see why this kind of format is no good.
  16. WBBM, KPIX, WWJ, and my hometown CBS station WFOR will all give up their 9:00am news to carry the third hour of CBS Mornings, known as CBS Mornings Plus. KCBS is the other one carrying it but local news there in the morning is on KCAL instead. https://www.nexttv.com/news/tony-dokoupil-adriana-diaz-to-host-cbs-mornings-plus?utm_source=Listrak&utm_medium=Email&utm_term=Tony+Dokoupil%2c+Adriana+Diaz+To+Host+‘CBS+Mornings+Plus’&utm_campaign=TVB's+Abby+Auerbach+To+Retire
  17. Happy 70th birthday, KTBS. https://www.ktbs.com/70th-anniversary/ktbs-celebrates-70-years-with-a-look-back-at-stations-history/article_776b0fe0-6a4a-11ef-beef-c73304c7915a.html
  18. I don't think WTVG was ready for that since they were brand new under Gray ownership back then.
  19. It is over for Hollie Strano at WKYC. She is no longer there as of today. https://www.cleveland.com/news/2024/09/meteorologist-hollie-strano-says-she-has-been-let-go-by-wkyc-channel-3.html
  20. Woah. One of X's top markets is BLOCKED by Brazil's top court. No, it's not gone permanently. Just suspended for now. https://apnews.com/article/brazil-musk-x-suspended-de-moraes-46c9d5c5c895e17d9adfac43e6ac20fd
  21. By the way, she's keeping the Chief Met Morning trend going. She's staying on their morning and noon news, which means that Meteorologist Blake Hansen will take over their 5:00, 5:30, 6:00, and 11:00 p.m. news come late November (more likely after Thanksgiving) once George retires. A better explanation can be found here...
  22. Umm... something is defintely going on at WFTV Orlando because George Waldenberger, their longtime weekend meteorologist, is leaving as well. https://www.facebook.com/story.php/?story_fbid=938444928090829&id=100057759922361
  23. Keep your eyes peeled on WHEC-TV Rochester. There could be a new look coming to them shortly. No, its not on the air yet, but they have already debuted a new logo that appears online. Its their first new logo in 20 years.
  24. Starting Monday, September 9th, WFXT is going all out for local news once again which I'm not so sure will work considering the amount of people who continue to leave the station. Regardless, WFXT is doing it. They're cutting the 4:30am half-hour of their morning news so it can then air from 5:00-11:00 a.m. (leaving WCVB all alone at 4:30am), plus all brand new: two hours of midday news from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. They're also bringing back their hour-long 4:00 p.m. news after a years-long hiatus, returning the local news block to three hours. Finally, its all-night news starting with their usual 10:00, 10:30, and 11:00 news, then National News Tonight at 11:35, then Gray's Investigate TV+ (repeat from 1:00pm) just after midnight, and then... repeats of their 10:00 and 11:00 p.m. news from 12:35 a.m. until the morning news begins anew at 5:00 a.m. No, this is not a joke or a made-up schedule. This is according to TVPassport and partially confirmed by Zap2it as of this post. WFXT is really gonna go with this.
  25. T.J. Springer is moving from Hearst's WGAL to FOX's WOFL/WRBW/WOGX. https://www.facebook.com/tjspringerwx/posts/pfbid02zLD3RFWn3TS5RLzzaQ4nPUen6yvUDoLp6kfdFUeqBwyDjhz3L8gSYBoNoSiDQhUpl
