  1. Put this under the note of I didn't see that one coming... Stacia Naquin has left WSYX as of today. https://abc6onyourside.com/news/local/stacia-naquin-signs-off-at-abc-6fox28?fbclid=IwY2xjawHkNztleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHXXV5P9Rs7REP9mKu59zEHz2N1ofvWEIsRRlv5CxwVcUDWbqW4yDFvoPng_aem_26oOkPh7RKcX04S1FOYQug
  2. As of today, KUNP La Grande/Portland is no longer Univision. It is now KUNP Portland, an English-language station that is the new flagship home of the Portland Trail Blazers. Not only that, countless repeats of The National News Desk are in, as are some of KATU's local (mainly AM Northwest and Afternoon Live) and syndicated programs, as well as simulcasts of their weekday 4, 5, 6, 11 p.m., and all weekend newscasts. Two new newscasts are coming in on weekdays only, which creates a great excuse to invite the ARC brand to Rose City. Therefore, ARC Portland begins on Friday on KUNP from 7:00-9:00 a.m. and 10:00-10:30 p.m. with ARC Portland Sports at 10:30 p.m. (according to TV Passport).
  3. A new year means new lineup pairings at WTVG Toledo now that Diane Larson has retired. Kristian Brown has taken over Diane's 11:00pm and now, it'll be Sashem Brey who'll trade her longtime morning post for the evening post at 5:00 and 6:00pm (Kristian continues at 5:30pm). https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.13abc.com/2024/12/31/13-action-news-announces-new-anchor-lineup-2025/%3foutputType=amp
  4. I'm not surprised. He's wanted to go back to Indy for quite some time.
  5. It looks like WBBH and WZVN are merging what was their separate weather teams into one. One example... Rob Duns in the new year will stay on WBBH at 4:00 but will then switch over to WZVN at 6:00, 7:00, and 11:00pm. https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1264728761283664&id=100032396576813
  6. Bob Lindmeier has closed off a 45-year career as being Madison's weatherman at WKOW... and all of those 45 years at WKOW, a real rarity in today's business. https://www.wkow.com/news/retiring-bob-lindmeier-says-goodbye-to-wkow-viewers-after-45-years-of-service/article_9b6e5844-c48a-11ef-bc17-1f70693dfa0f.html
  7. Its been officially known as Gray Television for quite some time. I think though that we'll soon have to rebrand this thread as the official company will become Gray Media, Inc. on New Year's Day at 12:01 a.m. ET. https://graytv.gcs-web.com/node/22976/pdf
  8. Its official and it will happen on New Year's Day. First gone was the historic news/talk format which led to a lackluster sports betting format. Now, the call letters are going away with it after nearly 101 years. 560 will be KZAC. https://www.insideradio.com/free/so-long-kgo-historic-call-letters-to-vanish-from-bay-area-radio-dial/article_4f902a52-c6fa-11ef-be92-4bcc08318652.html

  9. Did you read my post above? I said that both KTTV AND KTLA are providing coverage this year.
  10. Gray + ABC = Renewed until 2028. https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1063303115810240&id=100063916838737
  11. We just lost a part-time (controlling stake) owner of MSG (the arena), Radio City Music Hall, the Knicks and Rangers but also, the founder of... HBO (some say, the greatest network to have ever existed) Cablevision AMC The News 12 Networks A TRUE visionary and pioneer in the world of broadcasting, Charles Dolan was 98. https://apnews.com/article/charles-dolan-dies-obituary-hbo-cablevision-bc5b48318f336f633b7df006afcd60c4
  12. At first I thought KTTV took the local rights back, but actually it's both KTTV and KTLA providing coverage this year.
  13. Canada Ben Mulroney is back on Canadian airwaves hosting his national radio talk show. It is on the following... AM 980 CFPL London: 9:00am-12:00pm QR Calgary - 770 CHQR: 12:00-2:00pm 880 CHED Edmonton: 12:00-2:00pm 680 CJOB Winnipeg: 02:00-04:00pm 980 CKNW Vancouver: 06:00-08:00pm https://globalnews.ca/national/program/the-ben-mulroney-show
  14. Oh wow. I'm saddened and stunned to learn of his passing. I agree with David when he said that you won't find a much finer gentleman in all of television than him. You gotta feel for Bryant too, man. He just lost a legendary brother. A truly sad day in the world of sports and in broadcasting in general.
  15. WSVN has done normal newscasts on Christmas for years except for 5am and 12 Noon to air a local boat parade special (Winterfest, 40 years now).
  16. Tom Skilling's first of his many reapperances on WGN-TV post-retirement. Enjoy!
  17. The annual Christmas Day tradition at WABC-TV... the Christmas morning broadcast of Channel 7 Eyewitness News This Morning (the only news broadcast on WABC-TV this year due to the Disney Parade and the NBA on ABC going until 1am ET). Because of Hanukkah also following on the same day this year, both Bill Ritter and Lauren Glassberg (both Jewish) had the day off. (EDIT: If I'm wrong as to why both Bill and Lauren are off, please correct me.) Instead, it was Pedro Rivera (solo at 4:30am) and Tanya Rivero (joining from 5am onwards) anchoring with Lee Goldberg, the chief and the only usual one this year from the normal three, as part of this year's telecast. Of course, holiday greetings and more as NewsActive3 captured it this morning for us to now enjoy. If you don't know how this tradition came to be, NewsActive3 on YouTube explains it: "This was an annual broadcast that was done every Christmas Day since the September 11th terror attacks in 2001."
  18. I saw in a NewsActive3 video that they're also sharing weekend mornings (8:00-9:00am).
  19. Australia We're about to have DAZN Cable. News Corp. has sold FOXTel to the owners of DAZN in a USD$2.4 billion (A$3.4 billion) deal. https://variety.com/2024/tv/news/dazn-acquires-foxtel-news-corp-telstra-1236257581/
  20. 52 years in television news (mostly in Buffalo) ended today for Don Postles. He's now off to retirement.
  21. His final sign off...
  22. A good point to note from the story on their website... rightfully so this move. Over the next few days, you may notice national news programs or syndicated programming in place of local news while ABC13 grieves our loss.
  23. 89.1 WUFT-HD4 Gainesville-Ocala is the launch (and flagship) station for BEACON (Broadcast Emergency Alerts and Communications Operations Network). This is the first I've ever heard of something like this attempted, especially with the use of AI to provide a 24/7/365 channel, even when not in an emegency. It does have an app and has targeted streams across Florida (for now) but is pushing for a nationwide expansion next year. https://futurimedia.com/press-release-futuri-fdem-and-uf-launch-first-ever-ai-driven-emergency-broadcast-system/

  24. Carol Clarke has come up with a plan for retirement... next year at WYFF which will be 40 years (no firm date just yet). For her last year, she's transitioning to dayside to do more reporting from the field, and keeping the 6:00pm anchor chair. She will give up the 11:00pm to Sydney Shadrix. https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1121531476261934&id=100052152768666
  25. By this Friday, KBAK/KBFX's Chief Meteorologist will be off to television retirement... Miles Muzio's last newscast will be 6:00pm on Friday. https://www.facebook.com/miles.muzio/posts/pfbid02jFPWjaDoVRuygzJ4Y8FwbWfQqvjy6ZpC7SMmQvXrWZkQSD8ydmKZPjF9yvWuB8NYl EDIT: Also, ARC Reno is here, and it debuted this week.
