1. Described it exactly right. Spanish is on par with English and WSVN usually likes to pre-empt FOX programming (except primetime) on weekends. Sometimes, they would delay a Bundesliga match from FOX and put it after FOX's Saturday late night programming. FNS was at 4:00am on Monday mornings for more than a decade, maybe 15+ years from my recalls with research and TV listings and living here all my life.
2. WSVN loves to pre-empt programming and FNS was no exception. It aired Monday Mornings at 4:00am prior to moving this. And now with FNS airing at 9:00am, TIF Sunday now airs in two blocks: 8:00-9:00 and 10:00-11:00am. But if you ask me, it should've been shifted to 7:00-10:00am so that FNS can air at 10:00am.
3. Good for him! He was likeable at WPLG.
4. Something I reported last week on my blog. Other notables from today on my blog: - WPHL 17's in-house morning newscast has expanded to 5:00am. - KTVZ 21 is expanding to half-hour news at 7:00pm. - KEZI 9 and KDRV 12 are both adding hour-long 4:00pm newscasts. KTVZ 21, KEZI 9 and KDRV 12's new newscasts all debut on September 12th, which is this year's day of "adding newscasts" left and right, across the country.
5. Sorry to triple post but... We already heard that Peter Mansbridge is retiring from CBC News and The National next year. Now, another one is deciding to call it quits... After 23 years at Sky News and 50 years total in broadcast journalism, Jeremy Thompson is retiring from Sky News: http://tvnewsroom.site/sky-news/sky-news-jeremy-thompson-retire-end-year-146127/ After the US Elections, he's gone from the network. He's the second high-profile anchor to announce he's leaving from the network after Eamonn Holmes announced last week he would step down from Sky News and from anchoring Sunrise after 11 years. He's gone by October 13th.
6. I think CBS is finally doing its morning show right. So much so that I may just turn to them instead. I can't stand GMA since its going to its entertainment-driven fluff. I can handle Today but only like maybe the first hour if I do watch. I think CBSTM will soon take over GMA for second place and I hope they do. GMA just sucks now.
7. Today, franceinfo: launched at 8:00pm Paris time/2:00pm Washington time. It simulcasts the French version of France 24 overnights starting at 12:00 Midnight. franceinfo: is owned by the Government of France which also owns France Televisions, France 24, Radio France, RFI and Institut national de l'audiovisel.
8. Nor will WCPO since Scripps is still headquartered in Cincinnati plus the "C"incinnati "PO"st, a newspaper that Scripps founded, was huge in that area until its folding in 2007.
9. Commercials are getting kicked out from CBC Radio 2 and ICI Musique, according to Northpine.
10. Sorry to double post, but here are other stories I've made... WBRE 28 has expanded to 4:30am. KFDA 10 is expanding to 5:00am. WHNS 21 has expanded to 4:00am. WALB 10 is adding a half-hour 4:00pm newscast. KVLY 11 will add a 9:00pm nightly newscast for KXJB-LD 30.2 (The CW; CBS on 30.1) WPLG 10 is coming back to 9:00am. WMC 5 is shortening the noon newscast to a half-hour, again. KCPQ 13 is adding weekend morning news (6:00-10:00am) on KZJO 22 - JOE TV. KSDK 5 is expanding the noon newscast again to a full hour. WSFX 26 is adding a half-hour 7:00pm newscast. All of these have either debuted this week or is scheduled to debut next week or in less than two weeks. I've done so many stories that I don't wanna post those tweets, but just list them instead. Just check out my blog for more details and again, I always let this forum be the first to know.
11. I messaged WVLT Local 8 on Facebook a few days ago and WBXX CW 20 responded to me. In the end, that's how this story was made:
12. And Bob Leider is returning to Sunbeam to that exact job.
13. I was never a fan of GMA anyways but this makes me deflect over to CBSTM, big time!
14. An ex 'SVN-er. Neat. Shows you how much I love WSVN when I recognize a former employee working somewhere else. She did become a fill-in on 'SVN from time-to-time so this is nothing new for her.
15. Indy had three 24-hour local news OR weather channels: 1) WTHR's "SkyTrak Weather," which is now Me-TV. 2) WISH's "Local Weather Station," which is now GetTV. 3) WRTV's "HTSN," which will soon be Grit. Pretty sad to me.
16. I think that The CW will be on 21.2 with NBC on 21.1 and TMD on 30.1
17. Well according to Wikipedia, Telemundo is on Channel 30 and The CW is on Channel 21.
18. Unless if KNPN moves the 5:00pm news back to 5:30pm and lets KNPG have the 5:00pm timeslot.
19. And KNXV is currently the ONLY local station to be on Roku. For NewsON, its different with KTVK and KPHO on that service.
20. It seems like KNPG-LD would move to Channel 21 from Channel 30 and that Channel 30 could get the KBJO-LD call letters, unless if those change too. The way I read this is NBC on 21.1 and The CW on 21.2, but that could be changed.
21. Yep... the 10:00pm news is just moving up two hours earlier to 8:00pm.
22. And they're gonna have more once it becomes an Independent in less than a month.
23. The only permanent weekend news pairing I've ever known and watched at WGN Television, Robert Jordan and Jackie Bange, is about to be broken up. Robert Jordan plans to retire after 43 years with WGN-TV next month, September 25th. http://www.robertfeder.com/2016/08/14/wgns-robert-jordan-to-retire-with-profound-gratitude/
24. When will that happen? I need the deets!
25. Go to the "Local News on Roku" thread in the "Breakroom" section. I've been posting news about stations joining NewsON and stations creating their own Roku channel. The latest add was like 15 stations from Sinclair including 5 new cities.
