  1. Yet another recording of WNEW-TV's sign off routine, this time from mid April 1984:
  2. Well darn. Sinclair said that if they got the Tribune stations, they would've expanded Morning Dose and possibly NewsFix to some of it's stations not carrying local news or Kids Click.
  3. Here's something cool, I have that exact same broadcast, which in this case is the NBC miniseries The 60's, on tape also from WTMJ! An almost complete KARK 5pm newscast from August of 2002, right after they moved into their current studios:
  4. When did you do it? I must not have seen it. But I know how much you hate when people post things you already did, so I'll delete if you want.
  5. I was about to post that KARK newscast, you beat me to it. And on that WJCL clip, the reason there was only a 5pm newscast mentioned because JCL didn't have late news back then (they carried Married with Children reruns at 11pm). The original Ellis/EQ Vance open to WUPW's 10pm news, were they possible the first non Hearst station to use Image News? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=Z-T1Q_bqfYA;m=1;s=10
  6. Even RT America is more of a news channel than CNN is!
  7. Amen to that Eat News. I think CNN realizes that people don't watch TV for news anymore, they get it all from the internet. That's why they've basically become MSNBC 2. So don't blame Jeff Zucker for CNN's downward spiral, blame progress.
  8. All I can say is, boy what a dump channel 69 was back then! We can all be thankful that Channel 46 caved in and let CBS make them their new affiliate. BTW, Channel 69's potential purchase by and affiliation with CBS went as far as having them running CBS' daytime shows (CBS This Morning, Price is Right and the soaps) in the weeks leading up to the switch (WAGA had already pre-empted them for an expanded morning news and talk shows).
  9. I know it was announced a month ago, but I think STIRR is a ridiculous name. Is it an acronym for something? I would also assume the entertainment shows and movies will be coming from MGM like Comet & Charge.
  10. Now Ken Owen has videos for every major Indiana market, he just uploaded some clips from Evansville:
  11. I fugured that WSYX almost became "Fox 6 On Your Side", as back in 1994/5 WTTE dropped Fox from their branding and went by TV-28 in preperation of becoming the new ABC affiliate had WSYX switched. The end of the KNBC Weekend Newservice and an NBC News Special on the "Saturday Night Massacre": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBkUtvYlEH4
  12. You should give credit to NewsActive3 if this came from one of his videos. Can someone ask this guy to upload complete newscasts?
  13. A rebroadcast of WFTV's Eyewitness News from November 19, 1998, leading into a half hour portion of World News Now (with the World News polka!):
  14. WISH-TV has the best news you'll get all day: The rare other version of We're 4 New York, WGRZ's It Takes 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=oUqCsPzn-E4;m=4;s=10
  15. There is, and I always thought it was used by KTBC (as sister stations KDFW, KTVI, WSTM, and WVTM all used Hello). Promos and ids from WMSN Fox 47 from 1990 to 1997, includes a pair of sign offs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8ZkH2K5fXY
  16. All are EQ Vance graphics in his prime! Clips of all 3 Boston TV newscasts in the days after Elvis' death (including Live on 4's predecessor First 4 News), not sure if there are any news opens in this video:
  17. I just hope you hate the really bad ones like everyone else..... Clips of the LA TV channels after the Northridge Earthquake (the first 14 min are from a camcorder recording a portable TV): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qyc9sCBegXs Believe it or not, this is my 300th post on this site!
  18. Boy, I just love being the first to post here after 9/11 clips have been posted. #sarcasm Here's some bits of news reports from all 3 Omaha TV stations from the early 1990's, all focusing on the U of NE at Omaha Mavericks. This shows how ahead of the curve WOWT was graphic wise compared to KMTV & KETV:
  19. From my neck of the woods, the open to WMBB's 10pm news from May 14, 1995, still using Peters' Strong theme: And a tiny scrap of WWTI's NewsWatch 50 from 1997:
  20. Here's another rare goodie, KAKE News 10 from October 2, 1995 anchored of course by Kansas TV legend Larry Hatteberg. The open and graphics are very ahead of its time (possibly a Vance package?), and makes Wichita look like a huge metropolitan city. And, Multimedia Broadcasting had a cable company?
  21. Many of these opens we've seen in NewsActive3 or Compubit compilations, while there a few that are completly new! Including this open from KMID:
  22. General Cinemas owned them back then. Here's a WBTV newscast from August of 1995, with their EQ Vance look: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMo_RTmpmhw
  23. Sorry to burst your bubble, but that's just an expanded edition of the CBS Evening News from August of 1973. Which is still good, as likely the only other existing copy is Vandy's B&W recording. I'm sure Rick will find something from The Big News soon, he's rumored to have over 4,000 tapes of old LA TV recordings!
  24. I've been downloading all of RIck's old LA TV clips so I can recover them all for you in the likely event of his acoount getting teminated. If it happens, contact him at [email protected] to convice him to open a new account (or to just send him a thank you letter for all the work he's done uploading these one of a kind videos!). And now, here's an overnight rebroadcast of News 4 New York from April 28, 1993, during it's tabloid phase:
