  1. People are on vacation or took a long weekend. It happens. They are allowed. Viewers probably are more focused on a familiar anchor than a replacement. That's whose opinion counts - the viewer.
  2. Does WMAQ have an equivalent to NY Live at 11:30 am? My question is if they do, are they using the exact same graphics package or is it modified?
  3. WNBC last night - which was primary day in NYC, used a mix of looks. Election coverage included many elements of Look S, while maintaining Look N for regular stories. What I noticed, now that we saw the Chicago roll out, is the promo for the new 7 pm news program includes a lot of Look S elements. I'm not sure why Valerie Staub did not decide to completely roll out Look S with the election coverage - it would have been perfect timing.
  4. Because it is not necessary and redundant (the anchors always introduce themselves).
  5. Definitely evolutionary, which is appropriate. We'll see when WNBC switches. So far the previous graphics.
  6. Actually the use of stand up shots and using the back screen for graphics is.a positive change and probably will continue. If you notice Lester stands most of NN now too just down the hall. Will they eventually change the desk, probably. Should they add more large video screens, definitely.
  7. Honestly, it will probably not be noticed by most viewers being so subtle. It makes you wonder why go through the expense if there is no real return.
  8. Wow, the fact he does not know the difference between excepted and accepted should concern any journalist.
  9. Last night Chuck and Natalie were standing next to each other behind the lucite desk. This morning Michael and Darlene were sitting on stools behind the desk. Both Maria and Lauren were standing next to them. They mentioned it was the first time they were all close to each other in a long time. WNBC ended the social distancing yesterday pm. Adam and Janice were standing next to each other to introduce weather segments. They "promoted" the 7 pm newscast last night, but did not say anything about anchors. The basically showed a graphic and said a new way to watch News4 begins Monday with News4 at 7. That was it. The lack of promotion, no statement on anchors makes me wonder if this is just a filler until they find a more permanent solution for the fall. This is a big departure from how they launched the 4 pm newscast. The last time they had the 7 pm, it moved to Cozi and used a range of reporters as anchors. I guess we won't find out until Monday.
  10. Ellen is ending her show a year from now. NBCU has not said yet what they plan to use as a back fill - I suspect they will move Kelly Clarkson up from an earlier time on most NBCU stations. Isn't this shuffling a result of the cancellation of All Access? Many of us in larger NBCU O&O markets are waiting to see what NBC plans on doing with the 7 pm hour. It has long been rumored that WNBC may return a 7 pm news program and shift Access Hollywood to 7:30. With a little over a month to go before All Access ends its run (it is only shown on NBCU O&Os), no announcements have been made except in San Francisco now.
  11. Warner Media provides HBO Max for free to most subscribers to HBO across the country. It is not unique to AT&T Uverse or DirecTV customers. It's the model Paramount+, Peacock, Disntey+ etc should also follow. Cable/Sat customers aren't going away and are alway paying for content. If someone cuts the cord then yes, it is appropriate for them to pay.
  12. CeFan Kim, will be reporting for ABC News, while still doing some reporting for WABC.
  13. 6 foot rules still apply inside. Some are returning to sets, but not the full compliment. That will take more time once more people are vaccinated.
  14. https://www.nexttv.com/news/reham-aslam-named-vpnews-director-at-wabc-new-york
  15. No I can see Nexstar branding local newscasts with the NewsNation name and city if they think it can draw viewers. I hope not, but I would not put it past them considering the investment for all 67,000 viewers.
  16. I noticed the promo this past weekend. I suspect Nexstar is going to be pushing the Nation and News Nation branding on their stations going forward hoping (wrongly) it will get a few people to even notice NewsNation. Is NewsNation NY in the future?
  17. There are markets where the main anchor team is Sunday though Thursday. When I lived in St. Louis, that is how KSDK operated. Felt odd.
  18. Who knows? It also happened from 11-3 yesterday, plus at 5, as well as today at 5. Rana Novini has been substituting for over a year on various newscasts, so if it was permanent I would think it would have happened already.
  19. They have been on the air continuously since 11 am. Beginning with TINY they have had 2 meteorologists on continuously. Matt is the only one not used today so far, but I suspect he will be on later.
  20. Where do you live? I'm in NJ and News 12 NJ still is very NJ centric though more regional/national stories are mixed in. But its focus remains on NJ which is severely underserved by the O&Os, not to mention Fox being in violation with Channel 9. I do find News 12+ to be useless in in its current form. It is NY, especially LI, focused and that is a turn off. It's probably a single feed across the Altice territory so that is why it carried Cuomo even in NJ. Gov. Murphy's briefings are on the regular News 12 NJ channel.
  21. Yes, they did. One of the two hotels I stay at when in Providence still carries whatever useless stuff is on 28. No CW. Begs the question, does DirecTV or Dish carry the CW for the Providence market?
  22. Optimum too. Says The 6 O'Clock News. Still can't watch.
  23. What I find interesting/concerning with WPIX is technically it is owned by Mission Broadcasting. However the not so well done website modification and the end of news bumper all say Nexstar. Talk about blatantly thumbing their nose at ownership regs. These sidecars are a scam and Pai's FCC just lets it happen.
  24. yes, NBC O&Os include the Olympic Rings from January through the Olympics in Olympic years. They were part of the lower thirds last year until the Olympics were postponed. It does mean they will be included two years in a row assuming this year's proceed as planned.
  25. Natalie has been as well. they have probably needed to reduce the number of folks in the studio because of the rise in infections.
