  1. Meteorologist Jaden Knowles is joining Tegna's KUSA & KTVD in Denver in early April, as part of their Weather Impact Team. He has spent the last 2 years at American Spirit Media's KAUZ-TV "News6" in Wichita Falls TX as morning meteorologist.
  2. Per KOB's website KOB4 is off the air in Southeastern New Mexico, due to high winds that apparently knocked the dish out of alignment at the microwave site. So KOB is unavailable over the air in: Alamogordo Silver City Las Crusis Truth & Consequences Ruidoso & Deming The station is waiting on tower climbing crews to fix the issue. Original article here: https://www.kob.com/news/top-news/winds-knock-out-kob-4-antenna-signal-in-southern-new-mexico/
  3. I'm sure it had something to do with it wasn't and still isn't technically a legal duopoly. At one point not sure why it didn't happen but in the late 90s the F.C.C. ordered Waterman Broadcasting Corp to spin off WZVN to a 3rd party but it didn't happen.
  4. Effective today: NBC2 NEWS (WBBH-DT) & ABC7 (WZVN-DT) are now operating under one brand & one website. NBC-2.COM & ABC-7.COM now redirect to: www.gulfcoastnewsnow.com, the 2 stations will still have separate newscasts & anchor teams but one brand. Below is the new logo for the 2 stations. Here is the article talking about the switch: https://www.gulfcoastnewsnow.com/article/gulf-coast-news-nbc2-abc7-fort-myers/63677491 IMAGE: WBBH / WZVN.
  5. The Eaton fire is currently threatening Mt. Willson & the TV Transmitter sites for KNBC,KABC, KCBS, KKTV, KTLA, & KCAL. And probably transmitter sites for local radio stations. So quick question: where is the backup site for the L.A. TV stations? Thanks..
  6. Spring Weather, I saw that FOX Weather was kind of on this strange loop yesterday. The Weather Channel & Weather Nation TV were both on top of the multiple alerts as they were going out. FOX Weather finally started to show alerts 20-30mins after TWC & WN, SAD situation for FOX Weather.
  7. MidwestTV is right, they do it all the time outside. Usually when it's in studio it's for the A-Block hit on the newscast, TODAY Show Weather Updates & NBC News Daily weather Updates. What they don't use as much anymore is the camera shot from the main Weather Center that's out in the Information Center.
  8. KMGH / KCDO Chief Meteorologist Mike Nelson retires today after a 48 year career, his final newscast is at 5PM. He came to KMGH in 2004 from KUSA where he was the chief meteorologist from 1991-2004. Here are some articles on his retirement. https://www.denver7.com/news/local-news/colorados-weatherman-colleagues-reflect-on-mike-nelsons-nearly-50-year-illustrious-career-on-tv https://www.denver7.com/news/local-news/watch-mike-nelsons-first-denver7-weather-forecast-from-20-years-ago https://www.denver7.com/weather/from-denvers-first-weather-computer-to-training-al-roker-mike-nelson-helped-transform-forecasting https://www.9news.com/article/entertainment/television/mike-nelson-denver-meteorologist-weatherman-retiring/73-0417844f-e608-44cd-9853-6b617ebacee8
  9. Tegna's ticker does look a lot like what Hearst uses for it's stations, KUSA & KTVD have been using this style of election ticker since 2020.
  10. CNBC Said on air early today, that most of the cable networks mentioned, especially MSNBC were loosing money. And that according to comcast, MSNBC has been loosing money for quite some time.
  11. WINK says in its own article, they thought they would be moving into there new studio space within a year, that article is dated August 3, 2023. So at this point we are beyond a year. And would Sun Broadcasting's WARO, WHEL, WSFX & WXCW move with them into the new space?? I'm guessing yes, because it's a side car operation.
  12. Sports anchor Jacob Toby is leaving KUSA & KTVD his last day will be October 19th, he will be joining the broadcast booth for the San Antonio Spurs. https://www.9news.com/article/sports/basketball/jacob-tobey-new-announcer-san-antonio-spurs/73-8ae40bc9-cd4c-4a8f-961c-d1c464dff740
  13. Tegna's KUSA (NBC) & KTVD (My Network TV) will carry 20 Colorado Avalanche games over the air this season, on both channels produced by Altitude, according to an email I received this morning. KUSA & KTVD will also carry 20 Nuggets games. [ No word yet on coverage for the Colorado Mammoth (NLL). I'm going to guess Tegna will be involved somehow.] It's kinda full circle for KTVD as they carried NBA & NHL games in the mid 1990s, they were owned by Newsweb corp back then.

Former KUSA Anchor & Investigative reporter Ward Lucas passed away Sunday at 75, no word on his cause of death. He was part of a Netflix Documentary on the serial killer Ted Bundy, he worked at KUSA-TV from 1976--2009 when he retired, and before KUSA he started his career at Seattle's KIRO-TV from 1974-1976.. 15. KUSA has tweaked it's opening sequence a bit with the launch today of a new 3pm newscast, The Peacock while still white is bigger, plus the station is now using a V/O for the opening of the 3pm newscast & for it's long established 4pm newscast.
  16. Denver: KUSA is replacing Daily Blast Live with a new 3PM newscast M-F starting Monday September 9th. KTVD is adding True Crime News at 10PM M-F starting Monday. KMGH no Change. KCDO added Good Morning Football on Friday 9/6, it airs weekdays at 9AM, replacing Kelly Clarkson show. adds "The Flip Side" starting Monday September 9th at 10PM, replacing reruns of Family Feud. KDVR/KFCT: Apparently they are launching a new 3:30PM newscast, that will start Monday (9/16/24). (Their website said it was supposed to start 9/9/24) It will replace a 2nd rerun of Judge Judy. KWGN: adds the Kelly Clarkson show @ Noon M-F. On Wednesdays & Fridays adds a :30min paid program block at 1:00PM replacing a rerun of Friends.
  17. if I remember correct it didn't even last a whole television season. I believe it was on the air maybe like 5 months.
  18. This is just crossing the news wires: https://www.cnbc.com/2024/08/27/media-exec-bronfman-pulls-out-of-race-to-acquire-paramount.html CBS Corp & Paramount have been sold by National Amusements, Inc to Skydance Media, LLC. https://cordcuttersnews.com/sold-pluto-tv-paramount-have-been-sold-to-skydance-as-all-other-bidders-drop-out/?fbclid=IwY2xjawE6CvhleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHcPfkLCj7P_mYT5wi1UWShmtKftpxcF0oiG6mO2s1R9W3Tip0ZEnfXqWQg_aem_APDaa7BxPGjGFZUkrVdwRg
  19. The Graphics are okay, better than Tegna but nothing that stands out..
  20. Update: KDVR/KFCT has returned to FOX NEWS coverage the station, citing some technical issues with the FOX feed, they switched back at 1:30PM.
  21. Don't know if other Nexstar stations have done this or not but KDVR & KFCT dropped a FOX NEWS Special Report, during an interview with Kevin Corke, to go to local coverage for aprox 5 mins before throwing to News Nation to cover Mr. Biden dropping his re-election bid. I find the choice to drop network coverage strange.
  22. The 5pm newscast was the first broadcast from the new studios at least according to what they said at the top of the newscast.
  23. I wonder how this sky dance deal eventually affects CBS NEWS & CBS News & Stations? That will be interesting to watch.
  24. Sports reporter Arielle Orsuto is leaving KUSA & KTVD after this upcoming week. She will reveal plans on her future steps sometime next week. She has been with KUSA/KTVD for 5 years.
  25. Glad to see this sort of... I have always thought that KUSA/KTVD were kind of the odd ones out here in Denver as every other station has a name for there weather segment. Maybe KUSA/KTVD won't use the composite radar image as much after this change, they to are the ones here who don't usually show a live sweep during severe weather events, just that composite image.
