Kate Snow announced this evening she will be leaving “Nightly” Sunday next week to focus more on “Daily.”

The tape delay ratings in the Indy market still beat out the live ratings in other markets. So for WISH, it would give them a huge boost.

Speaking of CNN, anyone surprised no one in ATL has tried, at this time, to get Robbin Meade?

Eight CBS Stations to Ditch CW and Go Independent This Fall
EVVTV12 replied to AKA's topic in General TV
“Adell told B+C he did not have an affiliation agreement with The CW, but agreed to air the network as an “accommodation” as he awaited the FCC’s signoff on the sale.” Someone just needs to get this boy away now. If he is “accommodating” them, like he says, he has a contract with them. How is Scripps and WMYD breaking anything? The CW/Nexstar had to go to them, not the other way around. -

Well, it’s happening at WPVI.

I couldn’t find any previous topics for this, so I made one. The BBC has once again released its annual pay list. This is only for those getting pay from the BBC more than likely from the tv license fee. Gary Lineker still comes in on top with £1.35M ($1.74M). Everyone else is below £1M. BBC News main anchor Huw Edwards is still between £435,000 to £439,999 (roughly $563,000 to 569,000), which is way below what the big three network anchors make. Full list from the BBC: https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-66156287

I know we have talked about this before for previous years, but why hasn’t the BBC, ITV, and Channel 4 tired to sell some of their shows to the US syndicate market? I’ll say it, I will watch Countdown, Pointless, and Tipping Point before I watch another newscast.

KRON will add a 2pm newscast and will rejoin everyone else at 11pm. Safe to say the 8 and 9 will be axed. https://www.kron4.com/news/bay-area/kron4-to-become-cw-affiliate-this-fall/

Add another one to the list: WISH-TV meteorologist Randy Ollis announced this morning he is leaving the station at the end of August. https://www.wishtv.com/news/local-news/randy-ollis-to-step-away-from-wish-tv-in-august/

Streaming? That’s just a fad. Betamax, that is the future.

Well, well, well. This gonna be great for WOOD-TV. I’m pretty sure they are happy about this and celebrating in the newsroom. https://www.woodtv.com/about-us/wood-tv8-launches-two-hour-delayed-news-stream/ If you listen carefully, you can hear Fox17 and WZZM putting new promos together.

Hopefully, Deathstar… err Nexstar is smart and will still let stations live stream in real time severe weather. But this is the same company that didn’t have their cable channel break into programming for the death of Her Late Majesty The Queen. I do want to know how many current stations still don’t have live stream of any kind. I know in the past two years, one of the stations I grew up watching finally got live stream, but for some of their newscast. And that is if they remember to turn it on.

EVVTV12 replied to Georgie56's topic in General TV
Lisa: All right! It's time for ABC's "TGIF" line-up! Bart: Lis, when you get a little older, you'll learn that Friday is just another day between NBC's "Must See Thursday" and CBS' "Saturday Night Craporama". -

NBC Considering Giving 10pm/9pm Back To Affiliates
EVVTV12 replied to Georgie56's topic in General TV
Something I’ve been thinking the past few days: Keep Nightly News at 6:30, but add a 30 minute prime time newscast at 10:30 after local news at 10. If that is done, hopefully Nightly News isn’t rushed and more time can be given for different stories. Also, big breaking news event or just a major event of the day, push the Tonight Show back by 10, 15+ minutes. For the State Funeral of The Queen, BBC News at 10 was an hour long. -

NBC Considering Giving 10pm/9pm Back To Affiliates
EVVTV12 replied to Georgie56's topic in General TV
Global at 6:30 (30 minutes), CBC at 10 (hour), and CTV is at 11 (30 minutes) and is the number one newscast in Canada (well, for now; see Lisa LaFlamme for more). Why are the networks given only 30 minutes in the evening? At one time NBC planned on having Nightly News go to a full hour in the early 80s, but nothing happened. -
NBC Considering Giving 10pm/9pm Back To Affiliates
EVVTV12 replied to Georgie56's topic in General TV
I guess I’ll ask this question: Has NBC considered moving Nightly News to 10 instead? From my understanding, the US is really the only country where a major broadcaster doesn’t carry a nightly evening newscast in prime time. -
