KTRK (ABC Houston) installed a new 13 Alert weather radar, although it's nowhere in the Houston DMA, but at Texas A&M university, which is in Brazos County, just outside the DMA in the Waco-Temple-Bryan market. https://abc13.com/post/abc13-alert-radar-network-expands-college-station-new-radar-top-texas-am-universitys-om-building/15239897/

Stella Sun, who joined KPNX (NBC Phoenix) as a traffic reporter on Today in AZ & recently became certified as a meteorologist & did weekend weather for 12 News, has left the station as of today. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/11MJDNkJZAcxXzsM/

At least unlike last year, DIRECTV & Disney deadline is set for Sunday so it won't affect fans wanting to see the first full Saturday of College Football, although if it does end up being like Spectrum & they do get dropped, I'd expect a deal to be done before the first MNF game Jets/49ers on September 9th. Nothing motivates a dispute to be taken care of more quickly than the NFL.

Especially considering for they studio setting, NBC Sports Chicago stepped it up with the sofa instead of the typical desk. -
Eight CBS Stations to Ditch CW and Go Independent This Fall
NYAZSporty replied to AKA's topic in General TV
If this sale goes ahead, I could see Cox Media Group wanting WUPA (Atlanta) to create a duopoly with WSB (ABC Atlanta) like they have in 3 other big markets in Charlotte, Jacksonville, & Orlando. -
Wonder if it's going to be separate from the College Football set as I know CBS uses the same studio for their college football coverage as the NFL & they've got coverage, at least on the main CBS network, starting in 6 days time.
-
Very likely, it's produced by KNBC considering the time it comes on after college football, similar to what we have here in Phoenix now apparently as KPNX has a new Saturday night sports show called 12 Sports Locker Room which actually starts tonight after the NASCAR race. Have a feeling in addition to being post-college football programming to keep sports fans tuned in afterwards, this also feels like a replacement for having lost the Cardinals broadcasting rights to KPHO/KTVK & hence the post-SNF programming as well alongside their Sunday night sports show 12 Sports Tonight.

In regards to WCCO (Minneapolis) & WJZ (Baltimore) as well, they're in markets where Drew airs on another station.

Eight CBS Stations to Ditch CW and Go Independent This Fall
NYAZSporty replied to AKA's topic in General TV
According to the TitanTV listings on both CBS Detroit & CBS Miami, the first programming they'll show from the CW is The Hill Sunday with Chris Stirewalt which will air at 10AM on WBFS (Miami) & at Noon on WKBD (Detroit). I'll be interested in seeing what kinda rebrand if any will occur, I'd think WKBD would stick with Detroit 50 while WBFS I feel is due for a refresh. -
Not sure if it's like this elsewhere, but here in Phoenix noticing for the DNC, like the RNC, ABC is slightly ahead of the other networks.
-
What happened in New Orleans was clearly more for corporate reasons being owned by TEGNA, they got away with airing Eyewitness Morning News under Belo. As for this 3rd hour of CBS Mornings, considering what kinda content is planned for the 3rd hour, I'd think KCBS (Los Angeles) which simulcast the live East Coast airing, will probably stick to their local news at 6AM which also airs on KCAL, & just show the 3rd hour at 9AM Pacific. Here in Phoenix, I could see KPHO air it & bump The Price is Right to an hour later at 10 with Hot Bench possibly going over to sister indy KTVK, which is where the AZ Family lifestyle show Your Life Arizona airs.

The Ever-Evolving Gray Graphics Situation...Thread
NYAZSporty replied to NEOMatrix's topic in Graphics
It was the logo WBRC once used as an ABC affiliate & for a short time when it switched to FOX thanks to the New World mass affiliation switch across many markets after FOX got the NFL in 1994. The '13' in the FOX 13 logo of O&O WTVT (Tampa) is another example of this predating it's time with FOX by a few years as a CBS affiliate. -
Interesting, unlike Arizona & Washington, which also left NBC affiliates for this preseason, albeit to CBS in their home markets, there was no PR about it, maybe it's a one year thing, although IMO, parterning with FOX & being the home of most Giants games would be ideal, not to mention having a sister station in WWOR to have Giants content air as well.

Audacy Enters LMA with Good Karma; WCBS 880 to Flip to Sports

In regards to meteorologist Craig Allen, he's posted on FB that he's going into forced retirement. Would be nice to see him take on a bigger role at CBS2, especially to lighten the load a bit on Lonnie Quinn considering he's going to do weather stuff for the network. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/J7rADdLv6mybHb1L/ -
No changes preseason graphics-wise for the Bills, Bears, Bucs, Chiefs, Chargers, 49ers, Jaguars, Seahawks, & Titans. Raiders using MLBN/NHLN type graphics, while the Vikings & Saints use the current FOX scorebar, & the Cardinals, having moved from KPNX (NBC) to KPHO (CBS) went with a new custom scorebar.
-
I like that at least here in Phoenix, KPNX, who usually puts a TOH ID on the bottom of the screen (sometimes also coming out of local breaks), are flexible & put it around when Gold medal events wrap up, saw it last night after the Women's 4x100 relay which was shown at 10, they waited until 10:04 after the race to put it up & today during the Women's football final putting it five minutes early at 9:55 so as not to get in the way of the moments of euphoria afterwards.
-
Houston Texans making a slight tweak with the color of the scorebar from last season, Pittsburgh Steelers no change, Atlanta Falcons follows suit with the Lions & Giants with the current NFL on FOX bug, while the Miami Dolphins, Philadelphia Eagles, & Baltimore Ravens remain unchanged from last season.
-
In regards to Savannah & Hoda, it actually was the reverse as I noticed the day before the Opening Ceremony, Savannah was still in NYC & they did do a report from the U.S. Olympic House in Paris & Hoda was there.

Good to see considering many of the FOX/My duopoly markets have already expanded on news in some form, wonder if sooner or later, we see a NYC-equivalent branding of FOX 5 Plus on ch. 9. Here in Phoenix, I know recently sister station to KSAZ, KUTP added simulcasts of FOX 10 News from 4-5:30 & 9-10 to their exclusive 7PM newscast as well as showing West Coast Wrap at 7:30.
-
Since I haven't seen anyone start it up yet, I will, here's the 2024 LocalNewsTalk preseason NFL graphics roundup starting with Carolina & New England (no changes it appears) & Detroit & N.Y. Giants both using the current 2023 FOX graphics set, the Lions going from Bally Sports Detroit while the Giants have switched broadcast rights from WNBC to WNYW. Have a feeling we'll see this change implemented on the Atlanta Falcons & Minnesota Vikings broadcasts with both being on FOX O&O's (WAGA & KMSP) & using their NFL grahpics in the past.
-
And as of yesterday, he's now on KPNX (NBC Phoenix). He'll be anchoring 12News from 4-5:30PM after the Olympics with Tram Mai (4PM) & Caribe Devine (5PM) as Mark Curtis cuts down his work, but will continue to anchor at 6 & 10. https://www.12news.com/article/news/local/arizona/troy-hayden-joins-12news/75-43c03ea9-34fb-4f59-bf49-fa359e8b9b40

In regards to Arizona, they do have a station in the one market without a presence, Yuma, KAZS 27. https://tvnewscheck.com/programming/article/arizonas-family-sports-launches-on-kazs-yuma/

Doug's a Chris Wragge-type going from sports (he was at SNY before Ch. 2) to news.
