Love how gung-ho Crossing Broad is in this article, not wanting to recognize KYW's news as it is, sticking to Eyewitness News, much like the person who started this thread, not changing the title. Heck, it sure sounds better than generic CBS News Philadelphia or whatever other O&O city it is, outside of the ones using call letters to ID their news.

After Midnight canceled; CBS leaves 12:30am slot
NYAZSporty replied to Horizon's topic in General TV
I'd probably feel it'd be more likely if it weren't for having WJZ in nearby Baltimore.- 64 replies

With news of CBS moving from WANF 46 to WUPA 69, here's a video from back in late 1994 close to the time WAGA, then a CBS affiliate would go to FOX, where they reported on who was planning to take over the affiliation in...channel 69, then WVEU after CBS purchased it, only for then WGNX 46 took over instead. So, ch. 69, after nearly 31 years, ends up getting CBS after all.

On the other hand, unlikely since they own the FOX affiliate there, but it'd be kinda cool if the Big 3 network stations in Tucson are owned by the same owner of the Big 3 stations upstate in Phoenix with Gray/CBS, Scripps/ABC, & TEGNA/NBC.

For all the instability surrounding Scripps, KNXV (ABC15 Arizona) seems to be handling it well even with the recent departure of Katie Raml.
-
Wouldn't surprise me if Scott becomes the chief at CBS New York & let Lonnie focus on CBS Evening News.
-
Katie Raml said farewell to the Valley today at the end of tonight's 6PM KNXV (ABC Phoenix) newscast after nearly a quarter-century there, seeing it rise from the bottom all the way to pretty the top if not close to it now. Considering how some of the corporate owners, particularly KNXV's owner, Scripps, have been handling things, we're lucky in this market that there hasn't been the craziness that has dumbed down news operations as we've seen elsewhere. And nice to see when the network acknowldeges it too seeing World News Tonight anchor David Muir recording a "Thank You" video for Katie, it's one thing if it's for a local anchor in NYC, where you might as well be a part of the network knowing how their news dept. operates, but another if it's for a non-O&O affiliate. https://youtu.be/DQpKmEIP6u8?si=m_yWzUOvx2wLBqTt https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1DfzqbwpFU/

Noticed Cox customers in SoCal, North of San Diego County, don't get the Dodgers RSN SportsNet LA, so Dodgers fans unable to switch last few yrs. to DIRECTV or Spectrum, will soon able to get SNLA.

For the Papal Conclave, CBS has sent Maurice Dubois across the Atlantic to Rome alongside Norah. Seeing the coverage right now amongst the networks, seems like NBC is soaking it in more in regards to not blabbering so much taking more opportunites to listen to the sights & sounds leading into the announcement than the other networks. ABC is utilizing Liz Nagy from their O&O in Chicago (WLS) for reporting from the Vatican. When the announcement was made, ABC & NBC had graphics up translating what was being said & also ABC for their coverage is utilizing for the text in the lower 3rds the font used by the O&Os as well as ABC News Live. ABC & FOX are first networks to sign off from coverage right at 2PM Eastern, interestingly KNXV (Phoenix) cut away & joined an ad in progress leading to the 11AM newscast. CBS & NBC are continuing, the latter makes some sense considering affiliates might be scheduled for NBC News Now. EWTN also signed off at the top of the hour.

Yeah, and it looks like based off of this, he'll be involved with network coverage of the funeral of Pope Francis late tonight/early tomorrow morning along with fellow anchor from sister West Coast flagship KABC (Los Angeles) David Ono, which makes some sense & even more worth ABC sending them out to help the main network out with coverage. https://deadline.com/2025/04/how-to-watch-pope-francis-funeral-online-1236375052/

It'll be interesting to see if any of the main evening news anchors are actually en route to Rome & considering the time of day the news broke here early in the morning, wouldn't be surprised if this is the case, that they're reporting from the Vatican in time for tonight's newscasts at 6:30 ET.

An unfortunate circumstance happened earlier today where KTLA's Twitter/X account accidentally put out the N-word due to a "technical error" which they apologized for. They were blocking ppl for a time after it was posted just for mentioning that it was a "technical error"

Don't be surprised if out of retaliation for this, CBS doesn't renew the contracts for the 2 game shows in the O&O markets that air it in Boston, Dallas, & Minneapolis/St. Paul.
-
I know WPLG also has correspondents in Washington as well as Havana, Cuba.
-
WBFS (CW/Miami) will be airing 15 Miami Marlins games, mainly Fridays, with a few Sundays sprinkled in.
-
Airing it in primetime wouldn't be unprecedented, they do that here in Phoenix (KTVK). It feels kinda awkward when it airs at the same time ABC airs a special episode for the network at the same time.

Seattle Mariners, despite still being on an RSN (Root Sports NW), they're using MLB graphics.

TEGNA Broadcasting and Digital General Discussion
NYAZSporty replied to ABC 7 Denver's topic in Corporate Chat
In addition to the D'backs, TEGNA has also secured rights to simulcast 10 games in local markets for the Colorado Rockies (KUSA/NBC Denver) & San Diego Padres (KFMB/CBS & CW on 8.2) https://www.9news.com/article/sports/mlb/colorado-rockies/watch-colorado-rockies-games-9news-ktvd/73-ddbcf589-9f61-443e-9ebc-4edb92f1fd3f https://www.cbs8.com/article/sports/mlb/padres/cbs-8-and-cw-san-diego-broadcast-padres-games-2025/509-ffaa3f54-ce7c-4b81-9bb4-ca3362865ec6- 3703 replies

Hehehehe, it ain't even breaking news!!!! Notice too the ticker has the station logo, wonder if affiliates can program the ticker to a point where the logo's insterted in instead of the ABC News bug or if this ticker is a varient that the local ABC affiliate is using.

This season will be the last for Bob Carpenter as the TV voice of the Washington Nationals & also the end, in all likelihood, of a great sports broadcasting career. He was the first host of ESPN's College Gameday & did other stuff for them & also was a voice for the St. Louis Cardinals. https://www.masnsports.com/blog/carpenter-reveals-this-will-be-final-season-as-nats-lead-announcer

Have a feeling when ABC's aboard, WSVN, when it comes to their newscasts, might be a bit more judicial when it comes to nat'l stories mixing in ABC along with CNN moreso than currently constitued btn. FOX & CNN. Also with this affiliation change, Miami joins Phoenix (KTVK) having both Jeopardy! & WoF on a non-network affiliated/independent station.
-
Shouldn't be too hard to find a channel for ABC Miami the way the TV dial is down there (unless a provider in the northern portion of the area also gets channels from WPB).
-
WSVN will be the new ABC affiliate carrying it on 7.2 while maintining FOX on the main 7.1 channel.
