  1. It was the logo WBRC once used as an ABC affiliate & for a short time when it switched to FOX thanks to the New World mass affiliation switch across many markets after FOX got the NFL in 1994. The '13' in the FOX 13 logo of O&O WTVT (Tampa) is another example of this predating it's time with FOX by a few years as a CBS affiliate.
  2. Interesting, unlike Arizona & Washington, which also left NBC affiliates for this preseason, albeit to CBS in their home markets, there was no PR about it, maybe it's a one year thing, although IMO, parterning with FOX & being the home of most Giants games would be ideal, not to mention having a sister station in WWOR to have Giants content air as well.
  3. In regards to meteorologist Craig Allen, he's posted on FB that he's going into forced retirement. Would be nice to see him take on a bigger role at CBS2, especially to lighten the load a bit on Lonnie Quinn considering he's going to do weather stuff for the network. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/J7rADdLv6mybHb1L/
  4. No changes preseason graphics-wise for the Bills, Bears, Bucs, Chiefs, Chargers, 49ers, Jaguars, Seahawks, & Titans. Raiders using MLBN/NHLN type graphics, while the Vikings & Saints use the current FOX scorebar, & the Cardinals, having moved from KPNX (NBC) to KPHO (CBS) went with a new custom scorebar.
  5. I like that at least here in Phoenix, KPNX, who usually puts a TOH ID on the bottom of the screen (sometimes also coming out of local breaks), are flexible & put it around when Gold medal events wrap up, saw it last night after the Women's 4x100 relay which was shown at 10, they waited until 10:04 after the race to put it up & today during the Women's football final putting it five minutes early at 9:55 so as not to get in the way of the moments of euphoria afterwards.
  6. Houston Texans making a slight tweak with the color of the scorebar from last season, Pittsburgh Steelers no change, Atlanta Falcons follows suit with the Lions & Giants with the current NFL on FOX bug, while the Miami Dolphins, Philadelphia Eagles, & Baltimore Ravens remain unchanged from last season.
  7. In regards to Savannah & Hoda, it actually was the reverse as I noticed the day before the Opening Ceremony, Savannah was still in NYC & they did do a report from the U.S. Olympic House in Paris & Hoda was there.
  8. Good to see considering many of the FOX/My duopoly markets have already expanded on news in some form, wonder if sooner or later, we see a NYC-equivalent branding of FOX 5 Plus on ch. 9. Here in Phoenix, I know recently sister station to KSAZ, KUTP added simulcasts of FOX 10 News from 4-5:30 & 9-10 to their exclusive 7PM newscast as well as showing West Coast Wrap at 7:30.
  9. Since I haven't seen anyone start it up yet, I will, here's the 2024 LocalNewsTalk preseason NFL graphics roundup starting with Carolina & New England (no changes it appears) & Detroit & N.Y. Giants both using the current 2023 FOX graphics set, the Lions going from Bally Sports Detroit while the Giants have switched broadcast rights from WNBC to WNYW. Have a feeling we'll see this change implemented on the Atlanta Falcons & Minnesota Vikings broadcasts with both being on FOX O&O's (WAGA & KMSP) & using their NFL grahpics in the past.
  10. And as of yesterday, he's now on KPNX (NBC Phoenix). He'll be anchoring 12News from 4-5:30PM after the Olympics with Tram Mai (4PM) & Caribe Devine (5PM) as Mark Curtis cuts down his work, but will continue to anchor at 6 & 10. https://www.12news.com/article/news/local/arizona/troy-hayden-joins-12news/75-43c03ea9-34fb-4f59-bf49-fa359e8b9b40
  11. In regards to Arizona, they do have a station in the one market without a presence, Yuma, KAZS 27. https://tvnewscheck.com/programming/article/arizonas-family-sports-launches-on-kazs-yuma/
  12. Doug's a Chris Wragge-type going from sports (he was at SNY before Ch. 2) to news.
  13. In regards to Lonnie Quinn, since he'll probably just come on when there's major weather going on, he can maintain his WCBS schedule & considering he's planning to do weather segments a new AR/VR studio, perhaps CBS2 is going to get a similar weather upgrade to what KPIX in San Francisco has.
  14. To be fair, the broadcast nets as a whole like showcasing the NY-news anchors on a nat'l scale ocassionally considering its their home base. As they can "If you can make it there, you can make it anywhere", although it doesn't help some folks perception of the mainstream media being so NY-bias & all. That said, as a NY-expat living in AZ who moved just over 2 yrs. ago, cool to see familiar faces on the nat'l front. Also, reading off of the press release, it looks like in terms of weather, WCBS is going to get the KPIX treatment in regards to graphics.
  15. If Maurice is given this opportunity on even a semi-regular basis, he'd probably consider cutting back locally at WCBS in New York, perhaps giving up one of either the 5PM or 11PM or even both newscasts. More likely than not, we'll probably see Major Garrett & Margaret Brennan, 2 reg. fill-ins for Norah in the rotation.
  16. And the "2" isn't even their own, they took it from their sister West Coast flagship O&O KCBS (Los Angeles) that have ditched that in favor of "KCAL News". Wonder how long before WCBS ditches the CBS2 logo completely especially after WBBM Chicago just did.
  17. Bally Sports is back, good news for sports fans...Bad news, gotta pay up a bit more from the lower tier plans to get it. No surprise, now let's see if Stan Kroenke looks at this & gets a deal done with Xfinity before the upcoming Avs & Nuggets season to end a multi-year blackout.
  18. Most likely to make NBC happy during the Olympics showing the Peacock logo & the Olympic rings. Even affiliates not used to branding like this like Graham-owned WDIV in Detroit show off the Peacock & the rings albeit not alongside their logo.
  19. Noticed at the end of the special, David Muir brought up the fact that ABC was the one that hosted the pool feed of tonight's Biden presser, something we usually see/hear about at the State of the Union.
  20. Was gonna bring up the YT video, but I'll mention it here, if you see the graphics open, anyone who isn't like us into this kinda stuff, you'd think these would be the kinda graphics for a newscast from a FOX O&O especially with the way the FOX logo is shown on screen towards the end of the titles. Also, WXIN kinda being a bit of a copycat with the time/temp/station bug graphics to TEGNA which has a station there in WTHR (NBC).
  21. Noticing recently, WABC has started to emphasize more, like most of the other ABC O&Os the "Your Voice Your Vote" ABC News moniker for elections seeing it used in graphics more & more on their newscasts. In the past, they've been resistant to use that branding opting Vote "Insert year here' although it did have the slogan underneath whenever they opened up a segment talking about political news.
  22. On the latter point, not surprised considering the Olympics are starting up this week, I'm sure Bruce Beck & other sports anchors & other personnel at the NBC O&Os & stations lucky enough to report on the games are already or are enroute to Paris. I've seen on social media WFAN's Keith McPherson also doing sports for WNBC, don't be surprised if he pops up during the next few weeks.
  23. It might be because either WPLG aired it then or recorded it straightaway for airing at 6:30, but there are some ABC affiliates that air WNT on Sundays at 6/5c, while many others air it at 6:30/5:30c.
  24. They're airing a primetime special....
  25. Only 1 & it was a cross-flexed game at that Week 10 at the Chargers & it got Nantz/Romo on a rare singleheader week where the A-crew gets the late 4:05 ET game. Lions are scheduled for 2 this season including the early Thanksgiving day slot against the Bears.
