With Betty Ellen Berlamino coming on board from WPIX what are chances of her bringing on board former and/or current on air talent such as Jim Watkins, John Muller, Peter Thorne or Kaity Tong? The new morning news anchor team has yet to be announced so I could see a nice team of talent coming from PIX.

I don't know if it's full-time, but Muller's been with ABC News for about a month now.

On the WLNY part of CBS New York.com, people want three things back right away. They want Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, and they prefer TV 10/55 News at 11 with Richard Rose over Cablevision's News 12 Long Island.

And speaking of Cablevision, MSG Varsity (a high school sports channel that they own) is showing a preview of their channel every Saturday at 3pm. Ironically, Cablevision refused to carry channel 55 during the first few years because Cablevision claimed that WLIG added nothing to the service they already offered (N12LI).

Legally, they can't put those syndicated shows on anymore and as for wanting news at 11, those viewers are going to be very confused when they with find out the newscasts are slated for 9pm so as not to compete with CBS primetime or their own 11pm news.

It looks like we have a launch date for the WCBS produced newscasts on WLNY: July 2. The morning program, airing from 7-9am, will be called "The Couch." Still no anchor team for the morning team announced, though.

See below for the source of this info:

In response to a post on WLNY's new Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/pages/WLNY/345395675521469), someone at WCBS/WLNY posted the following:

I'm sorry that you don't like us, Kevin! BUT, we are now owned by CBS Corporation and we are changing a lot of programming on the station. Be sure to tune into our new morning news program, "The Couch," weekday mornings at 7am starting 7/2...as well as our new prime time newscast weekdays at 9pm starting 7/2! It's a totally new station, with a totally new look and totally new programming!

I can't find the article but I already have a clue of who they will have on the morning show because he just left St. Paul/Minneapolis market saying he is heading to the NY market and nothing else is open but for Sue leaving so maybe he's the new morning anchor.

The Couch? Really? How about "WLNY 10/55 News This Morning" or "New York 10/55 News This Morning"? Why don't they just name Rob and Mary anchors of this program already? Make it an extension of the 4:30am-7am newscast on 2 but with lighter fare. Also, wouldn't be a bad idea to drop the 10 or the 55 from the branding, it just seems like to much of a mouthful to say.

I'm not feeling the name either. It is going to be lighter fare, so a newsy kind of name doesn't work either. How about The Breakfast Club or WLNY Morning Mix? As for the 10/55 I do think it's a bit clumsy, but I can look past that cause I like what they've done with the graphics. It does surprise me though they they can get on cable and satellite "10" across the board with their clout and cash.

I still think they just ripped the new WCAU "10". -_-

That said, there's precedent for this. Sacramento's one of their better performing duopolies right? Because that's the one where they run a traditional morning show on the CBS, and the more freewheeling "Good Day Sacramento" on CW. Both shows feel a lot different from each other. I'm guessing that's the format they're gonna try at WLNY. I don't know if that's the model I would have gone with but that facebook suggests a "young, hip" station and that's more the vibe they tend to give the CW station at least here.

I guess the idea to not run a "regular news program" is because of the competition, right? I know there's New York 1 (is that as popular as it seems in NYC?), but how newsy are the WNYW and WPIX morning shows? I'd have to think a straight extension of the morning news would be better counterprogramming...

It seems that they want WLNY to be more of a hip station compared to WCBS. I think 'The Couch' can be promising for the few details that I heard. Can't wait to see who they add to the team. I think a show like the old '2 Crew' would be a great fit for WLNY.

I go to wildwood NJ alot (part of the Philly market) and they have they have the CBS-CW Affiliation.. They basically just roll right over from CBS to the CW however the format becomes lighter after 7am.. And they do cut-ins on CBS.. Not sure if WCBS will do this.. Naming a show "the couch" suggests to me a very light, unscripted format which is the way to go because after a certain time in the morning most ppl dont want hard news.. They have no competition from WPIX but FOX 5 with Good Day NY will prove a strong competition.. Alex Denis should definetly be considered she has proven herself a strong anchor by being light and bubbly with the traffic to serious during the 5pm..idk anyone else there really but if it's gonna be a lighter morning show then they should consider a new team cause Rob and Mary don't seem like the most outgoing people

According to the Daily News, WLNY's has announced its staff for "Live from the Couch"

Carolina Bermudez from Z100’s “Elvis Duran and the Morning Show” will host WLNY-TV/Ch. 10/55’s new morning show, the Daily News can reveal exclusively. Joining her as co-hosts are John Elliott and Lisa Kerney, who will continue handling weather and sports, respectively, for WCBS/Ch. 2 during its weekday 4:30-7 a.m. newscast. The new show on Long Island station WLNY will be called “Live From the Couch” and air weekdays from 7-9 a.m., beginning in early July.

CBS acquired WLNY in April.

“ ‘Live From the Couch’ will be unlike any other morning show in New York,” says David Friend, senior vice president of news for CBS Television Stations.

“It will be a combination of news, talk and unpredictable fun,” said Friend.

“Carolina, John and Lisa are all very smart and have terrific personalities, so we’re looking forward to this being an informative and entertaining show.”

This has potential. I love Carolina from Elvis Duran, and she will make a great host as long as she doesn't try to hard. It will be a fun mix of things from what I can tell. I'll tune in.

Is Lisa going to be a co-anchor or is just gonna be a solo anchor with a newsreader? Also they are using their call letters to their advantage..I saw a picture promoting the station saying We Love New York..similar to what Channel 5 did with the What New Yorkers Watch campaign slogan.

There's one with the words "We Love New York" and below right of that in small red letters is "And New Jersey and Connecticut too :)" seen in this video, featuring "Exit 10/55", a public affairs show hosted by Richard Rose & Jennifer McLogan replacing "TV 10/55 Focus".
