mardek1995 200
I don't know; Curt Menefee, Joe Buck, and Erin Andrews hosting daytime, primetime, and late night respectively? But seriously, Fox already spent enough for UFC, U.S. (Golf) Open, and the FIFA World Cup to go along with NASCAR, MLB, and NFL; they're not going to blow several billions for the Olympics...even if they have FX, FXX, and FS1. Besides, Comcast (and by extension, NBC) also has spent quite a bit on NASCAR and NFL on top of the olympics (both summer and winter) Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/12022-olympics-broadcasting-thread/page/5/#findComment-155134 Share on other sites
PitCleTV 9
WPXI is sending reporters Gordon Loesh and Damany Lewis. http://www.wpxi.com/sports/olympics/follow-channel-11-for-inside-access-to-the-rio-olympics/386076316 You can follow the two photogs on social media as well. If I recall correctly, Ch. 11 didn't send anyone to London in 2012; can't remember for sure tho. Unsure about WKYC. After the convention, they might not have the budget! PitCleTV 9
I've been looking around on Twitter, and it looks like most reporters and crew left for Rio on Saturday. ATL46 11
Sister station WXIA -- who was the host station for the Olympics here in Atlanta 20 years ago -- may send either David Wilkinson or Kim Smith to Rio, but we don't know yet. Reporter Matt Pearl and Weekend Anchor/Reporter Blayne Alexander are going down to Rio for 11 Alive Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/12022-olympics-broadcasting-thread/page/5/#findComment-156322 Share on other sites
Eat News 4745
My question is if any of these stations are sending any actual crew? (no the network does NOT just provide a crew for affils free of charge) Do all these reporters and anchors have to Iphone it...or are they using local crews. I bet it's a facebook/Iphone affair...I also bet the stations will "cheap out" and do a lot of skype and facebook live. So while you enjoy the olympics in stunning HD... Your local station will be filing via crappy pixally smartphones. (I made up pixally) Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/12022-olympics-broadcasting-thread/page/5/#findComment-156333 Share on other sites

Greggo 356
KXAN in Austin sent morning reporter/MMJ Alicia Inns. Georgie56 3307
Women's soccer prelims are on NBCSN right now. Mike Tirico is hosting. Viper550 291
Oh, and the actual Olympics graphics ... these are probably, by far, the worst design I've ever seen. Viper550 291
Thats CBC's olympic graphics, but what about NBC's? Uh, no, those are the world feed/OBS graphics that are used in-event. You'll see those on NBC too (in studio, as mentioned, its using the normal NBC graphics) I don't know what CBC's actual graphics look like yet (this is off their web stream), as they officially kick off TV coverage with the Canada/Australia game later Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/12022-olympics-broadcasting-thread/page/5/#findComment-156545 Share on other sites

I dont know what they were thinking when they put those graphics into use. By the way, I dont know why, but I'd like to see the olympics on ABC (winter olympics at least) even if I have to wait until 2034 for that to happen. Viper550 291
CBC coverage just started. Very sharp intro, plus a new remix of their traditional Olympics theme. They're not in their studio, yet (Scott Russell's doing the pre-game for CAN vs. AUS on the roof of the consulate building) Much like Sochi, they are using the OBS L3s (bad typography and all, but at least animated), and some of the other graphics follow elements of it with a much better design (CBC Sports has had a fixation with light Gotham recently, for some reason. Still better than Arial). Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/12022-olympics-broadcasting-thread/page/5/#findComment-156560 Share on other sites
