Eat News 4745 Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 What would a FOX Olympics be like? Bong hits and strippers...all paid for by "the Chairman".
mardek1995 200 Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 I don't know; Curt Menefee, Joe Buck, and Erin Andrews hosting daytime, primetime, and late night respectively? But seriously, Fox already spent enough for UFC, U.S. (Golf) Open, and the FIFA World Cup to go along with NASCAR, MLB, and NFL; they're not going to blow several billions for the Olympics...even if they have FX, FXX, and FS1. Besides, Comcast (and by extension, NBC) also has spent quite a bit on NASCAR and NFL on top of the olympics (both summer and winter)
PitCleTV 9 Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 WPXI is sending reporters Gordon Loesh and Damany Lewis. http://www.wpxi.com/sports/olympics/follow-channel-11-for-inside-access-to-the-rio-olympics/386076316 You can follow the two photogs on social media as well. If I recall correctly, Ch. 11 didn't send anyone to London in 2012; can't remember for sure tho. Unsure about WKYC. After the convention, they might not have the budget!

I don't think they sent anyone to London, but they did do a PXI Live broadcast on their website during the Sochi games.
AaronQ 288 Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 WCNC is gonna send Beth Troutman to Rio for the Olympics. They announced it during the 11pm newscast tonight.
NBC 5 Chicago 196 Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 Looks like Siafa Lewis is going for WMAQ. Jeff Blanzy mentioned that he was getting ready for his trip to Rio during Sports Sunday.
JoseRM303 171 Posted July 30, 2016 Posted July 30, 2016 KING is sending reporter Allison Morrow and sports anchor Chris Egan to cover the Olympics.
PitCleTV 9 Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 I've been looking around on Twitter, and it looks like most reporters and crew left for Rio on Saturday. Also, WKYC sent 6 & 11 p.m. anchor Sara Shookman and reporter Will Ujek.
ATL46 11 Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Sister station WXIA -- who was the host station for the Olympics here in Atlanta 20 years ago -- may send either David Wilkinson or Kim Smith to Rio, but we don't know yet. Reporter Matt Pearl and Weekend Anchor/Reporter Blayne Alexander are going down to Rio for 11 Alive
Eat News 4745 Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 My question is if any of these stations are sending any actual crew? (no the network does NOT just provide a crew for affils free of charge) Do all these reporters and anchors have to Iphone it...or are they using local crews. I bet it's a facebook/Iphone affair...I also bet the stations will "cheap out" and do a lot of skype and facebook live. So while you enjoy the olympics in stunning HD... Your local station will be filing via crappy pixally smartphones. (I made up pixally)
Eat News 4745 Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 I've been looking around on Twitter, and it looks like most reporters and crew left for Rio on Saturday. Fresh Selfies by Monday??? I can't wait for all the fun filled candid shots of our favorite NBC Zekafiles. These Olympics promise to be worse than Sochi.
rkolsen 1697 Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Fun fact: NBC sent Brian Williams to Rio for the Olympics. Unfortunately it's a different Brian Williams - KNBC's head of field operations. I'm

CircleSeven 1963 Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 KPRC sent Rachel McNeill, Keith Garvin, Andy Cerota & Dominique Sachse to Rio.

Greggo 362 Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 KXAN in Austin sent morning reporter/MMJ Alicia Inns. In addition to KXAN, she'll also be reporting for a dozen other Media General stations around the country, working 14-16 hours/day. Sounds intense, but she seems really excited. http://tvradio.blog.austin360.com/2016/08/02/kxans-alicia-inns-heads-to-rio-to-cover-olympics/
TriangleTriadMediaNews 267 Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 WRAL sent morning co-anchor Renee Chou, evening co-anchor Debra Morgan, and sports director Jeff Gravley.
Georgie56 3349 Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Women's soccer prelims are on NBCSN right now. Mike Tirico is hosting. Looks like we're doing what we did in London and Sochi by using a revised version of the current NBC Sports look.
Viper550 294 Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Oh, and the actual Olympics graphics ... these are probably, by far, the worst design I've ever seen. They're seemingly a modification of Sochi/London, except with this ugly teal color and well...

Viper550 294 Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Thats CBC's olympic graphics, but what about NBC's? Uh, no, those are the world feed/OBS graphics that are used in-event. You'll see those on NBC too (in studio, as mentioned, its using the normal NBC graphics) I don't know what CBC's actual graphics look like yet (this is off their web stream), as they officially kick off TV coverage with the Canada/Australia game later

I dont know what they were thinking when they put those graphics into use. By the way, I dont know why, but I'd like to see the olympics on ABC (winter olympics at least) even if I have to wait until 2034 for that to happen.
Georgie56 3349 Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Here are some snaps of the NBC graphics from the Sweden-South Africa halftime show (excuse the left part of the screen, this was taken from my dad's TV)
Viper550 294 Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 CBC coverage just started. Very sharp intro, plus a new remix of their traditional Olympics theme. They're not in their studio, yet (Scott Russell's doing the pre-game for CAN vs. AUS on the roof of the consulate building) Much like Sochi, they are using the OBS L3s (bad typography and all, but at least animated), and some of the other graphics follow elements of it with a much better design (CBC Sports has had a fixation with light Gotham recently, for some reason. Still better than Arial).
