The new lower thirds look like a version of the "America's Newsroom" design. Right now, the breaking news lower third is like the previous.

Can I unequivocally say, ewww! These shapes they use! What the...? Who decided that the 'Coming Up' shape in the top left of the 4th picture was in anyway attractive? The turret graphics idea they have here look way better on Media General stations!

This Critic gives it two thumbs down!

They would have been better off melting a box of 64 Crayola crayons with a magnifying glass aimed at the sun.

Even by Fox standards, this is utterly hideous.

FNC has officially* dumped both old L3rd Designs for the new ones.

Here's the Shows who dumped the ond L3rds:

  • FOX & Friends First
  • Happening Now (Graphics Overhaul)
  • Your World
  • The Five
  • Special Report
  • O'Reilly Factor (Just added a shine to their old L3rd)

These Shows already had the design:

  • FOX & Friends
  • The Real Story
  • On The Record
  • The Kelly File
  • Hannity
  • A Healthy You
  • #Media Buzz

*I say officially, but it's only for a few shows. These shows kept their design:

  • America's Newsroom
  • America's News HQ

Fox News needs a straight-up graphics overhaul, period. But these are a big step ahead.

But would you disagree with the fact that these graphics are distinctive? Isn't that the point? Like WHDH/WSVN, Fox wants to have a unique look. Sure they look gaudy, but no one will forget on what network they exist.
