PhillyWatch 240 Posted May 4, 2022 Posted May 4, 2022 Was this in the first half hour or second? (Or both?) This could have been a staffing/covid or studio issue, OR perhaps they're thinking of adding CBSEN after the first half hour instead of replaying it.

I didn't see any mention on Ukee or Jessica's Twitter about it.
PhillyWatch 240 Posted May 4, 2022 Posted May 4, 2022 Abrupt cut to SVU from CBSN at 11 on WPSG, meanwhile things seem to be running as usual on KYW... Quite the mystery
phillynewslover 135 Posted May 4, 2022 Posted May 4, 2022 (edited) A couple weeks ago they ran Inside Edition in the 10:30p slot for no apparent reason. Edited May 4, 2022 by phillynewslover

SF1964 65 Posted May 21, 2022 Posted May 21, 2022 Tammie Souza was off today, so Mary Ours from KDKA Pittsburgh did the CBS3 weather this morning.

And what does it say about CBS that they are importing their Philadelphia weather forecasts from Pittsburgh? 3

NYPhillynews 103 Posted May 23, 2022 Posted May 23, 2022 The revolving door continues at CBS 3. That station is used as a pit stop for Anchors/Reporters headed to National or NY, LA, Chicago. Not saying that’s the case with Lauren, but there are a lot of KYW alumni on National Networks. 7

Oh, it looks like KYW isn't just importing their weather from Pittsburgh, you can add KTVT Dallas Meteorologist Jeff Ray to this list. https://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2022/5/24/what-the-hell-is-up-with-that. How does this happen in a Top 5 market like Philadelphia? WCAU has had some guy in Dallas doing the weather weekend mornings while Krystal is filling in on weekday evenings for Brittney who is on maternity leave. Honestly surprised they just don’t have their NYC station meteorologists fill in as they are the closest. 2

I wonder if cost has something to do with that decision as well.
TVJayFOX 10 Posted May 24, 2022 Posted May 24, 2022 Lonnie Quinn has filled in on CBS 3 late news in the past . (It looked as though it was recorded) 3
SF1964 65 Posted July 1, 2022 Posted July 1, 2022 Reporter Ryan Hughes, who worked for WFMZ in Allentown a few years back, has joined CBS 3. 1
newsdude 61 Posted July 11, 2022 Posted July 11, 2022 Longtime WCAU assistant news director Kathy Gerrow is the new news director at CBS3. https://www.paramountpressexpress.com/cbs-news-and-stations/releases/?view=100531-kathleen-gerrow-named-vice-president-and-news-director-at-cbs-news-and-stations-philadelphia-properties 4

She was also a high up staffer at KYW back during their News Tonight era in the early 90s. It's a good hire as she knows the market inside and out so she can at the very least make the station watchable again. 2
rear_flank 43 Posted July 12, 2022 Posted July 12, 2022 3 could really use a new meteorologist or two. Andrew Baglini has been filling in since the weekend and he seems like a good fit. I wouldn’t mind if he stayed. 1 1
Action Newsroom 1299 Posted July 13, 2022 Posted July 13, 2022 (edited) As featured in this article from NewscastStudio, there were plans to transition the weather segment branding from 'Eyewitness Weather' to the "Next Weather" branding currently used at WFOR, WBZ and WCCO in the near future, but they were put on hold due to the hiring of Kathy Gerrow as news director. "NewscastStudio sources say that KYW in Philadelphia was also preparing to switch to “Next Weather” as well, but a recent news director hire may have put a halt or pause on those plans" Also in the article is this tidbit about the new set: "KYW is also anchoring from a temporary location as a new set is installed in its primary studio, but that debut may be delayed as leadership changes." Another mention in the article that I agree with is that CBS didn’t go with a unified branding, particularly Next Weather as not many stations use it.

The set has been under construction for awhile now and Kathy's been in the position on an interim basis for much of that time. I'm pretty sure she signed off on it. That said, with as much as the station is bleeding money, I doubt they'd rip out a set this close to the finish line. 3 1

rear_flank 43 Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 The new set is debuting TODAY (7/18) at NOON, according to Jim Donovan.
PhillyWatch 240 Posted July 18, 2022 Posted July 18, 2022 And naturally CBS News Philly is carrying the VP speaking from the NAACP conference in Atlantic City, so no catching it on the stream...
