MorningNews 1711 Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Sam Champion announced the name of his new show as AMHQ, it will run from 7-10 AM.
24994J 5890 Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 For some ungodly reason, I kinda like it. I might need to lay off the wacky tobacky...or start, I'm not sure.
Jase 1164 Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Stupid title. They should have came up with something people can remember or at least with the word weather in it. Good luck trying to promote 'AMHQ'.
mightynine 307 Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 Depending on how the rest of it looks, this might be the quickest I've seen a network introduce something that goes against a brand new on-air look.
BehindNYNews 147 Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 I don't like the name but the graphic is nice.
Jess 1115 Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 "AMHQ" sounds like one of the many, many, many formats CNN would try so they would actually have at least one person watching them in the morning. I liked the name "Morning Rush", and that was kinda new... they should have kept that... And yeah, the logo looks weird, since TWC uses primarily red in WE'RE GONNA DIE MODE...
Big Country News 435 Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 AMHQ sounds a lot like FNC's default news show, ANHQ (America's News Headquarters).
MorningNews 1711 Posted February 3, 2014 Author Posted February 3, 2014 I believe he said it stands for America's Morning Headquarters. Not all that inspiring.
Action Newsroom 1376 Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 I believe he said it stands for America's Morning Headquarters. Not all that inspiring. Since when does a name for a news program have to be "inspriring"? it's just a name. Nothing to whoop about.
MorningNews 1711 Posted February 3, 2014 Author Posted February 3, 2014 Since when does a name for a news program have to be "inspriring"? it's just a name. Nothing to whoop about. Looking for a bit more originality. Something that hasn't been done before.
Jess 1115 Posted February 4, 2014 Posted February 4, 2014 Since when does a name for a news program have to be "inspriring"? it's just a name. Nothing to whoop about. I'm not looking for an inspirational name, just an accurate one. AMHQ sounds like a news show - it's a decent name, but if you don't mention that Sam Champion's hosting or it's on The Weather Channel, everyone will assume it's something on CNN or Fox News. It's the same thing I've complained about with WTXF's Good Day Philadelphia. That show's pretty much well known now for the Ryan Lochte interview in which Lochte pretty much proved himself to be the dumbest interview subject of all time. But that name was used to brand all five and a half hours of Fox 29's morning news output, and up until 7am it was pretty much straight news. As of today's expansion to 4am, they fixed that by finally renaming the first three hours "Fox 29 Morning News".
MorningNews 1711 Posted February 18, 2014 Author Posted February 18, 2014 The show will debut March 17 and Sam has uploaded a concept design for the new studio on his Instagram. Pretty ugly to be honest. http://instagram.com/p/kj4gVSjm9A/
todayshowproducer 25 Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 I'm one of the lots of unlucky ones who have DirecTv and dont't have the Weather Channel. Can someone/s please post caps and show notes from the debut show tomorrow?
MorningNews 1711 Posted March 17, 2014 Author Posted March 17, 2014 Me too. One of the few things I'm pissed at DirecTV about!
kcnewsjunky 16 Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 So well his "SET" double as the main Weather Channel set?? also what has happened to their set that they just built they are in the temp. set looking area.
todayshowproducer 25 Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 His part of the studio is in the main Weather Channel set in ATL, but to the right of the main anchor area. They have their own anchor desk (sits up to like 6 people), there is also an interactive/soft area, as well as Mike Bettis' corner, the Storm expert center. http://www.newscaststudio.com/2014/03/17/amhq-with-sam-champion-debuts-on-weather-channel/
MorningNews 1711 Posted March 18, 2014 Author Posted March 18, 2014 Ratings actually managed to decrease for yesterday's debut compared to the 4 week average. Check it out on TVNewser.
kcnewsjunky 16 Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Wait I'm still confused why they are in their little side anchor area rather to their original anchorning spot?
todayshowproducer 25 Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Wait I'm still confused why they are in their little side anchor area rather to their original anchorning spot? From pics and clips I've seen...they use it as almost a couch substitute during some of the lighter segments.
MorningNews 1711 Posted March 20, 2014 Author Posted March 20, 2014 Some reports of conflict already between GMA and Sam's new show. Apparently the AMHQ bus was positioned outside in Times Sqaure and was positioned to be seen in GMA's broadcast on Monday. ABC producers quickly realized and changed camera angles to avoid giving AMHQ any air time. Sounds like a silly report and I question it's accuracy but if true kind of funny but a bit immature of TWC. http://m.nydailynews.com/1.1724860 Sorry for the mobile link.
ns8401 995 Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 Not at all immature, if that is immature so are all the ads hanging in time square. Pretty clever really.
MorningNews 1711 Posted March 21, 2014 Author Posted March 21, 2014 I don't think it's clever to park your advertisement bus outside of your former employers studios to try and get some ABC airtime, especially when the attempt was unsuccessful.
nynewslover 283 Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Not at all immature, if that is immature so are all the ads hanging in time square. Pretty clever really. You mean the ones that are paid for to be there?
ns8401 995 Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Lighten up guys, I'm just saying it was mildly funny.
