NEOMatrix 1307 Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 I could see WISH taking on some kind of brand like INDY 8 since "Indy" can refer to both Indianapolis and the station's soon-to-be independence. How about "WISH 8" with the tagline "Indy's Indy"
who?cares 255 Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Can WISH employees apply for jobs at WTTV or will the non-compete clause still be in effect. I've heard that the station is not letting people out of their contracts; and that the non-competes are being enforced.
who?cares 255 Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 It's the very best they can do, since CBS is the whole reason this switcheroo is taking place. I could see WISH taking on some kind of brand like INDY 8 since "Indy" can refer to both Indianapolis and the station's soon-to-be independence. Indiana's Own, WISH-TV?
Samantha 2902 Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Indiana's Own, WISH-TV? Heh, I was thinking that myself. They actually used that slogan in the 80s and 90s.
who?cares 255 Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 Heh, I was thinking that myself. They actually used that slogan in the 80s and 90s. They had a nice square dance and jingle to go with it. (I wasn't alive in the 80s, and was too young to remember it in the early 90s.)
TexasTVNews 1378 Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Tribune's soon to be CBS station WTTV has announced its anchor teams come January 1, 2015. Former WISH-TV anchor Debby Knox and WXIN FOX 59 anchor Bob Donaldson will be the station 5:00, 6:00, and 11:00pm anchors for CBS4 News. Knox was previously retired from WISH, while Donaldson will continue to anchor FOX 59 News at Ten Weeknights. Former WTHR lead meteorologist Chris Wright will be the new Chief Meteorologist for WTTV. Marlanne Lynes, Tim Doty, and meteorologist Lindsay Riley (Formerly at KXAS NBC 5) will anchor the 5:00-7:00am and Midday Newscasts. http://www.mediabistro.com/tvspy/wttv-announces-new-anchor-teams_b133838
justin2kx 240 Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 So debby knox is basically back at "CBS", no? circle of life I guess.

A familiar face for a new news operation.
Samantha 2902 Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Well, having the right names is a step to success for any news operation (several of the new Big Three stations of the 90s — WPTY, I'm looking at you — failed to learn that lesson). Knox and Wright are huge gets for WTTV.
NEOMatrix 1307 Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Does WXIN plan on keeping its 5-7am, Noon, 5-6:30pm and 11pm newscasts or will they all "move" to WTTV?
TexasTVNews 1378 Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Does WXIN plan on keeping its 5-7am, Noon, 5-6:30pm and 11pm newscasts or will they all "move" to WTTV? Will local news on WTTV and WXIN be the same? Larry Wert (President of Tribune) said a news organization will be built to accommodate local news and local programming on WTTV. "At this stage of planning, I can tell you that there will be a separate focus, news wise, for WTTV," he said. "But we certainly will be resourceful with the current news organization at Fox 59."
TexasTVNews 1378 Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 That is the ugliest CBS4 logo I've ever seen. Why can't they use the KCNC logo better?
Samantha 2902 Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 I think that might be their existing 4.
Mrtraveler01 738 Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 A pretty good article about WISH losing the CBS affiliation appeared in today's Indianapolis Star: http://www.indystar.com/story/entertainment/arts/2014/12/06/wish-faces-future-without-historic-cbs-ties/19959993/
Georgie56 3326 Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 I think that might be their existing 4. It is. But that CBS4 logo bites, however.
Breaking News 839 Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 After the Jan 1, switch maybe 6 months down the road they could use WBZ 4 logo.
NewsMaster 226 Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 That is the ugliest CBS4 logo I've ever seen. EW. Maybe it will look better on-air. That's disgusting at first look though.
The Frog 435 Posted December 8, 2014 Author Posted December 8, 2014 This TV has moved to WXIN 59.3. WTTV has started simulcasting 4.1 on 4.2. Looks like they're both 1080i.
Mrtraveler01 738 Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Nope it doesn't. I've seen previews. Anyway you can post those online. Curious to see what they look like.
Rusty Muck 4405 Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 That is the ugliest CBS4 logo I've ever seen. Why can't they use the KCNC logo better? To be fair, if they used the CBS standardized "4", people would likely complain about Tribune's lack of imagination with logo design that they had to flat-out rip off another station's logo. But that WTTV "4" is pretty ugly.
mre29 1563 Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 It is. But that CBS4 logo bites, however. They should take the above logo, slide the 4 over to the right and shrink it down a bit, add the CBS eye, and redo the background so that the torch appears in the space between the eye and the 4.
tyrannical bastard 4036 Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 This TV has moved to WXIN 59.3. WTTV has started simulcasting 4.1 on 4.2. Looks like they're both 1080i. That sounds like a picture quality disaster in the making. 1080i suffers tremendously with added subchannels. Putting two of them together is going to make CBS and their programming look horrific.
Devon 37 Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 WISH-TV has announced their post-CBS program lineup. http://www.indystar.com/story/entertainment/arts/2014/12/11/wttv-cbs-indianapolis-network-shift-fox-wish/20248393/

This would'be been a perfect time for WISH to run a CHCH-like news schedule (ok maybe not THAT far but they could've put more local news on 8).
