NEOMatrix 1299
First, we have WMAR and the vehicle ramming and now this. I'm glad that stations are implementing security, otherwise this would've turned out worse than it was. nathannah 2436
The three stations are that close to each other? That must be weird. In Harrisburg WHP and WHTM can literally throw stones at each other; they're right across the street, while in Erie, WJET/WFXP and WQLN share a driveway south of town. Baltimore's situation is unique because all the stations outside of WMAR gravitated to that high point in the city to place their studios and transmitters. Eat News 4745
1. How accessible are these stations!? r In other countries if you violate the perimeter of the TV station or transmitter...they can mow you down with an M-16 machine gun. No questions asked. mardek1995 200
I get the idea that whoever that guy is that threatened WBFF was going to do the same thing to many other Sinclair stations (including WBFF's next door neighbor WJLA) Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/15109-fox45cw54my24-studios-in-baltimore-evacuated-after-a-bomb-threat/page/2/#findComment-150349 Share on other sites
Breaking News 829
Maybe it time for Sinclair to pony up some cash and move WBFF/ FOX 45 (which I take is their Flagship station) into a new building. The current FOX 45 building looks like a dump, and it looks very cramp too. nathannah 2436
WJZ's story has been updated with details of the suspect, including a statement from the father who said they had an attitude change in the last couple of weeks. I doubt they planned to target other stations outside of Baltimore or had any idea about station groups and ownership. DesertNewsGeek 47
Don't forget this Golden Oldie (in 4:3) from KNBC in the late 80's. Notice the pass on the shirt of the "gunman". ToriElectra 292
and pretty soon, ABC News will become conservative because of Sinclair. Um, how? It's not like Sinclair has influence at the network news level. How could they become conservative when FNC already has that angle well covered at this point? rkolsen 1684
On their 4PM newscast they showed how they got out of course they showed a security flaw. Their building is kind of on a hill where the second floor opens out onto a residential street. The reporter in the package showed how they walked out of the newsroom up a row of steps and out towards the second floor at grade exit. This exit is just a set of two glass doors with no security but right near the managers offices. rkolsen 1684
Thought I'd bump this thread because there has been an update on the case. Yesterday a judge found the suspect "not criminally responsible". The suspect was deemed to be showing symptoms of mental illness when he committed the crime. He will be placed in a state mental hospital until doctors determine that he is no longer a threat.
