jb542 13 Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 Newscast Studio Tweeted that "NBC O&Os will rollout "Look N" this weekend... maybe a new number "4" for one of them..."
24994J 5621 Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 Well, it's not WNBC, which leaves KNBC and WRC. That said, I wonder if LA and Chicago will possibly hold onto version 2 of Look F for a little longer, since that update's only 2 years old and they're not debuting anything Monday.
Greggo 358 Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 WNBC debuts tonight at 11, according to TVSpy http://www.adweek.com/tvspy/janice-huff-thanks-sue-simmons-in-broadcasters-hall-of-fame-induction/172332

rkolsen 1685 Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 I'm a bit puzzled about the white bar at the top of the screen.
24994J 5621 Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 I'm a bit puzzled about the white bar at the top of the screen. How are you watching?
Newscenter5WCVB 29 Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 How are you watching? http://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/local/WNBC-4-Livestream-News-4-Watch-Live-Coverage-200911691.html
rkolsen 1685 Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 It's like a great mashup between Hearst's diagrid with the backgrounds, and Gannett's G3. I'm not sure how I like the coming up bar at the top of the screen.
Georgie56 3324 Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 The white bar shows a TEGNA-like rundown graphic at certain times.
24994J 5621 Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 Damn, that's trying way too hard. Too busy, and the top bar is so stupid. If they're going to do a rundown, then why not periodically insert it on the constant bar at the bottom?
DMA 135 Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 I'm a bit puzzled about the white bar at the top of the screen. Agreed. It's only about 3px high but it is so distracting. I also don't find the weather info on the bug to be that useful, most areas have the same weather conditions?
B2r4a6n 103 Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 I'm assuming that the morning news ticker will be on that bottom white bar... Will have to watch in the morning to see.
Georgie56 3324 Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 I think they could've done without the white bar. It just looks tacky.
Jess 1116 Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 The white bar on the screen also displays information about the story's current topic: if an election story is playing, they'll have "DECISION 2016" on there. ...which kind of eliminates the purpose of having "DECISION 2016" on the bottom L3 as well, but didn't stop them from doing that anyway. I'm going to agree - it's good, but I think they're trying a bit too hard here. It's not as sublime as Tegna's graphics, and not as elegant as Look F. I think they're trying to cram in more information since they have more real estate to work with, but more does not equal better. The top bar will drive me crazy when 10 implements it.
Kev0170 14 Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 I LOVE the L3 though.. easily the best redone L3 in NYC.. The top bar needs to go its redundant... if you already have the topic at the bottom, why do it again for the top? Thats my only critique tbh
PAnderson1 27 Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 I like the graphics, but I don't think L.A. Groove fits the flow. They should've sped up the pace, changed it altogether, or updated the package.
rkolsen 1685 Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 I'm curious are the NBC Owned Stations included in the rollout of the VizRT system for NBC News and MSNBC?
rkolsen 1685 Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 Agreed. It's only about 3px high but it is so distracting. I also don't find the weather info on the bug to be that useful, most areas have the same weather conditions? I imagine the weather conditions bug was designed in mind for the affiliates that have significant variations in weather such as LA, SF and SD. I imagine NBC could probably get away with giving forecasts for NYC, Long Island, NJ and CT. I wonder how the header bar looks for persons who have the overscan feature turned off on their TV's. I imagine some of it will be cut off.
