NBC O&O Graphics (2016 Look N)

Which font did they use for the Look E (block) package? I thought it looked very sharp and was disappointed that they didn't use it for other graphics packages.

 

I should be more specific and say that I'm referring to the font used for the L3's

Look N Update

Weather icons have been overhauled and have been animated like Tegna. The rain and snow, however, are at a moderate speed where it’s noticeable that it will rain. (Small change but noticeable)

The old weather graphics remind me of the problems with The Weather Channel's first HD look that got an overhaul fairly soon after it launched. All of the detail in the rain and snow looked great on a big HD screen or the designer's computer monitor, but on anything else, they just turned into smudges.

WCAU has changed the font used on insert graphics from DIN to Hurley Sans. Not sure about any other O&Os following suit but I looks really good:

 

 

As you can see the weather graphics haven't been changed but that may follow:

You can also add WRC-TV to the list. I have no doubt all the O & O will be switching to this font by September if not earlier.

Will the font also be changed for the weather graphics?

 

I'm glad the NBC O&Os are still using glossy graphics and not flat ones, even/especially when you consider this package came out in 2016.

Woah, is it really Hurley Sans? The spec sheet looks kinda different from the typeface being used here. (And if that's not the case...then why would they go for a typeface that has one sans serif weight?)

Looks like it might actually be Compasse, especially because there's only one weight of Hurley Sans. But they're all just variations of DIN anyway. I could barely tell the difference.

Almost, actually! The ascender in Compasse is slightly different.

Could be a custom font based off one of these. NBC is famous for taking typefaces and customizing them to their own liking.

I wish they could change the graphics for a better picture and I like the previous version 2012-2016 better than the current one, it just isn’t the right fit

Bingo. Not only has 'Arthouse Owned' rolled out on the NBC O&O's, but also on the network-owned Telemundo stations.

I've noticed the Time and Temp is more bigger on KNTV’s bug

 

Especially the 6 and 9 is different and you can see the difference with the time and temp and the weather graphics since they still haven’t updated the font yet.

Hey guys I didn’t approve one or two posts relating to the new font roll out. There’s no need to list each station it’s appeared so far.  We know it’s going to replace FF DIN on all the Look N’s and Gotham for Look T on Telemundo.

Looks like WTVJ here in Miami, has switched over to the new teaser graphics like WMAQ in Chicago has today. And WNBC has switched up their weather graphics headers to match, well on some graphics.

WMAQ uses a different teaser for the 4pm news, but this newer update for other shows.
