atlnews2 591
I was going to make this thread about Bill O'Reilly's sexual harassment allegations, but seeing how there are now multiple lawsuits alleging racial and sexual harassment at FNC I thought it would be better to simply put them all under one thread. alex979 119
The Julie Roginsky story is baffling to me. She filed a lawsuit against Ailes, Fox News and current president Bill Shine on Monday. ns8401 941
why don't they fire bill O'Reilly ? Too easy... plus he's their big star... average viewer age for his program: 72... his "folks" aren't exactly getting younger either... it would be a big blow to their image I think in the conservative world... for most people it's probably a non-event either way. I'm sure liberals are thrilled by the news... Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/15644-fox-news-harrasment-controversy/#findComment-170573 Share on other sites
Action Newsroom 1281
why don't they fire bill O'Reilly ? Because he's a man. Plain and simple. In this case, no matter how heavy and damning these court cases allegations and settlements get and are, the Fox execs will fight tooth and nail to keep him, their top host, on the job (like they did with Ailes) as long as possible until it gets really ugly. If a woman did this (highly unlikely) or spoken out if it happens to her, she's thrown out immediately. It's a very sad reality, but is considered normal at this network and company. CircleSeven 1955
I was going to make this thread about Bill O'Reilly's sexual harassment allegations, but seeing how there are now multiple lawsuits alleging racial and sexual harassment at FNC I thought it would be better to simply put them all under one thread. There's also an ongoing federal probe regarding the settlement payments towards the sexual harassment claims, and whether those payments should've been notified by the shareholders. From an article back last August, a "tipster" said 21CF was unaware of the settlement money paid by the former Fox News booker. Hush money: A media executive and Morning Media reader got in touch regarding Monday’s Financial Times article (http://on.ft.com/2aKiWlL) about the $3.15 million severance payment made to Laurie Luhn in 2011. The gist: “Corporate governance experts have questioned how Roger Ailes was able to use Fox News funds to buy the silence of a woman who complained about him, without it coming to the attention of Rupert Murdoch’s 21st Century Fox, owner of the news network.” Our tipster points out, “The parent company said they didn’t know about the settlement. That means the auditors didn’t know. Willful manipulation of financial documents [within] a publicly audited company is a crime. It’s a violation of securities law pretty clearly.” Translation: Will this shady payment, which Ailes reportedly directed in his former role as Fox News CEO, come back to haunt 21st Century Fox? So could someone or some folks be headed to jail, should the Feds find something unlawful in the probe? They can't say they want people to speak up about stuff like this one day and try to shut them up the next . FNC is in a no win situation here that's only getting worse each day. Eat News 4745
Hey guys... I hate to break this to all of you but it's a real good bet that plenty of the women on the FNC DID in fact sleep with Ailes and others. They are on the air every day. They are "sleeping their way to the top." There is one or two in every newsroom...along with a pervy ND or assistant ND. It's also very common in the same sex relm of TV staffing and management. Both sides play the game equally. Let's not all act so shocked. NEOMatrix 1299
Being that Old Man Ailes had done a lot of sexual harassment himself at Fox News, it's no surprise that this culture was permitted. With Bill O now the latest alleged sexual deviant at FNC, one has to wonder how much damage control Fox will have to do. Trevor Noah said that he's unf***able. How do you know that the leftist counterpart, MSNBC, or even CNN (which is supposed to be the centrist news network, but is as biased as Fox and MSNBC) isn't doing the same thing as Fox News? How do you know that the left wouldn't do the same thing as the neocons that are Fox News? For all we know, they coupd be doing it too, but unlike Fox, they might be still hiding it from us, but as far as most of you are concerned, they're not. Also, Fox News is free from demonetization on YouTube simply because they're a part of the MSM, meaning they can spew their racist, sexist (in some cases, rapey), and neocon bullshite on youtube and get away with it. And as of this past election, Fox News is a dead horse. nobody 20
yeah, not one woman in the biz would sleep with an ugly wealthy exec.... OMG, I've seen photog-F%#@&r reporters sleep with poor ugly photogs to re-shoot video and slap a reel together for them. are you kidding me? maybe the only women NOT talking about Ailes are the one's that actually slept with him - did anybody ever think of that? it's the ultimate kissing of butt. NYC is all about kissing butt and playing the game, little to do with talent. At this point -what woman on FOX with a cushy job and a hefty salary would come out and admit they slept with Ailes for the night to get the job? Not one, especially if they are now married with kids years later. Though Sexual harassment in TV News isn't a problem until it stops working in your favor. "It's not what you know - it's who you b*&%" applies to every industry but TV News? ha Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/15644-fox-news-harrasment-controversy/#findComment-170781 Share on other sites

Rusty Muck 4374
The problem isn't just the sexual abuse allegations. It's not just that O'Reilly is refusing to own up and apologize (which would have probably allowed those advertisers fleeing now after all of the other stuff he's said on the show over the past 12 years). It's not just their permanent mindset to editorialize over the actual news, no matter what the news reflects on their editorial stances. Rather, the REAL problem is that this is indicative of a system-wide failure in the entire operation. Ailes set up Fox News as his plaything and had total control; everyone on the network now is reflective of Ailes. Case in point: when O'Reilly gets forced out, his replacement will be his hand-picked successor, the blatantly unfunny (and blatantly racist) Jesse Walters. It's at the point where you have to wonder if the whole network is irredeemable. /soapbox Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/15644-fox-news-harrasment-controversy/#findComment-170875 Share on other sites

O’Reilly’s future is in the hands of the Murdochs. “It’s up to the family,” the senior Fox News staffer said. The Murdochs are presently divided over how to handle it. Two highly placed Fox News sources say 21st Century Fox CEO James Murdoch would like O’Reilly to be permanently taken off the air, while his father, Rupert, and older brother, Lachlan, are more inclined to keep him. (A spokesperson for the Murdochs declined to comment.) That dynamic — James pushing for swift action, while Rupert resists — played out last summer in the Ailes scandal. James, of course, got his way with Ailes. ... Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/15644-fox-news-harrasment-controversy/#findComment-170891 Share on other sites
