I thought that Dish & Mission was dark since the fall of 2022 or was that DirecTV which is still dark. I think that has to do with the lawsuit once that gets settled maybe a deal gets done. I'm surprised that Dish didn't take Mission to court like DirecTV is doing.

Mission's stations were pulled from Dish in early January 2023, so 54 weeks have passed between the start and resolution of the dispute.

Mission's dispute with DirecTV began three months before the Dish dispute.

First it was Nexstar.

Then is was Tegna.

Now Cox Media is the next station group to potentially have a dispute with DirecTV.

WFXT was running a ticker during syndicated programming alerting viewers of a potential blackout:

White Knight Broadcasting's 2 stations remain dark on Dish, according to Dish Network. They were pulled the same day as the mission broadcasting stations. Friday January 6, 2023.   It must suck to be White Knight.

All told, a number of satellite viewers are going to be stuck watching the Super Bowl either on OTA or the Nickelodeon broadcast. (Surprised the CBS affiliate body allowed Nick to cut in on their biggest day in 4 years.)

Paramount likely figured the Nick simulcast would add viewership, boosting total ratings for the Super Bowl, rather than cannibalize the CBS viewership, given their different demographics.

So now both satellite providers do not have the Cox-owned stations on their systems. And I don't expect a quick resolution to this because the dispute with Dish has been happening for well over a year now.

Disney and DirecTV are going down to the wire for a deal scheduled to lapse on Sunday, in another referendum on the state of the pay TV business:

It wouldn't shock me if a new agreement ends up being similar to the one Disney currently has with Spectrum--Disney Junior and XD, FXM and FXX, Freeform, and Nat Geo Wild all dropped, and subscribers on the higher tiers (Choice, Ultimate, Premier) get Disney+ and ESPN+ for free.

At least unlike last year, DIRECTV & Disney deadline is set for Sunday so it won't affect fans wanting to see the first full Saturday of College Football, although if it does end up being like Spectrum & they do get dropped, I'd expect a deal to be done before the first MNF game Jets/49ers on September 9th. Nothing motivates a dispute to be taken care of more quickly than the NFL.

I'm a Spectrum customer, and I was just reminded that it's been practically a whole calendar year since the dispute between them and Disney.  Not only I lost the cable networks, but KABC as well, although disputes like these are a reason why I keep an antenna attached to the TV.  Fubo did offer a seven-day free trial for Spectrum to try out their services (and I've used Fubo in the past)...signed-up on September 9th, two days later Spectrum restored Disney Channel, the ESPNs, FX, Nat Geo, and the ABC O&Os, and I cancelled Fubo later that day.

The remaining customer base of DirecTV, being a satellite company, is overwhelmingly rural and more likely to be without viable broadband service. Those streamers wouldn't do that much for them.

It's unclear how relevant this would be to this board because it doesn't involve any news-producing stations, but Xfinity and the Big Ten Network are in a mini-dispute involving the regions of 4 programs that the B10 raided from the Pac-12:

Although both USC and UCLA have alumni up and down the West Coast, the real affect would be felt in Washington state and Oregon, as well as Northern and Central California (basically Fresno and everything north and west).  From Bakersfield southward to the Mexican border, it's all Spectrum with Cox sprinkled in. Cox's service territory includes SW Los Angeles County, southern Orange County, and at least half of San Diego County.

Aaron Rodgers got the doors locked for Disney & DirecTV like he did for Disney & Charter Spectrum last year LOL😂. I think a deal will be reached just in time for MNF next week I'll eat crow if it last longer and no deal reached in time for the Jets VS 49ERS Rodgers & The Jets.

The Disney channels are officially off DirecTV:

Another note is that DirecTV Stream users did lose access to their ABC affiliates because that's negotiated at the network level, not with station groups.
