kfc513 245 Posted December 28, 2017 Posted December 28, 2017 Found this while looking around Vimeo last night. Looks like it's going to be a version of the graphics that WXIN, KSWB, WGNO and others are using. https://vimeo.com/242694792 I checked their live stream, and they're not using these yet.
AJClementeFan69 477 Posted December 29, 2017 Posted December 29, 2017 Only to be replaced by the Sinclair graphics a year down the road. :/
Info Junkie 1286 Posted December 29, 2017 Posted December 29, 2017 Only to be replaced by the Sinclair graphics a year down the road. :/ Can we stop speculating please? Who even knows if Sinclair WILL get Tribune? It seems like every Tribune-related thread gets a Sinclair reference here and there.
Georgie56 3350 Posted December 29, 2017 Posted December 29, 2017 The next person to even mention That Broadcasting Group That Shalt Not Be Named in a Tribune thread gets one in the throat.
Info Junkie 1286 Posted December 29, 2017 Posted December 29, 2017 Yeah, let’s see, that would make WHO-TV the 11th Station in Tribune’s portfolio with the new graphics. I’ve made a list of all the debuts of these graphics right here: WXMI - April 22, 2013 WXIN - June 17, 2013 KSWB-TV - July 29, 2013 KTXL - September 23, 2013 WPMT - October 4, 2013 WTIC-TV - October 30, 2013 WGNO - April 2014 KFSM - Early 2015 KFOR-TV - August 20, 2017 KDVR - October 16, 2017 And now, WHO-TV. Seriously though, WJW, WDAF, WGHP, KSTU and especially WITI need these graphics. And they need them BADLY.
who?cares 256 Posted December 29, 2017 Posted December 29, 2017 Something tells me WXIN will be dumping this package when the new set launches.
NEOMatrix 1308 Posted December 29, 2017 Posted December 29, 2017 Something tells me WXIN will be dumping this package when the new set launches. Why would WXIN dump this package when it's still being rolled out?

I guess that would be for KDSM.
who?cares 256 Posted December 30, 2017 Posted December 30, 2017 Why would WXIN dump this package when it's still being rolled out? They’ve had it for almost 5 years. Just because it’s still being rolled to some stations doesn’t mean they can’t ditch it.
Jess 1115 Posted December 30, 2017 Posted December 30, 2017 I'll make a point here. Just because Sinclair is buying Tribune doesn't necessarily mean this package is going in the trash. Sinclair might opt to keep the Tribune graphics hub and packages, and maybe even offer some more variety to their looks ala Gray or Nexstar. I know, wishful thinking, but it's not a given that Sinclair's lousy graphics package will spread to the Tribune stations. Underailing this thread now! Graphics seem nice - they do a good job taking graphics meant for affiliates of one network and changing them up for more generic usage. I think I like it more than the Fox version.

Count me in as being pleasantly surprised with how well this package has worked outside of Fox affiliates.

I want to say I read somewhere years ago that the Sinclair execs were very unimpressed with the final product of the current glass and curves packages that the Sinclair stations use. It was designed by a Canadian firm or something. Apparently what was promised animation wise wasn't delivered or something and they just decided to use what they got because they already paid for it.
Conrad 113 Posted January 22, 2018 Posted January 22, 2018 Bumping this thread, but are those graphics on WHO yet?
kfc513 245 Posted January 25, 2018 Author Posted January 25, 2018 Bumping this thread, but are those graphics on WHO yet? Nope. Still on the same ones that they've been using.
RGSJenkins 435 Posted June 12, 2018 Posted June 12, 2018 They finally have them, when I don't know; they ditched Tower V.1 for V.6. Open: Bumper & talent open:
ABC 7 Denver 1743 Posted June 12, 2018 Posted June 12, 2018 They finally have them, when I don't know; they ditched Tower V.1 for V.6. Open: Bumper & talent open: Blah!
RGSJenkins 435 Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 Here's a cleaner look uploaded by WHO in May.
MichiganNewsGraphicsJunkie 986 Posted June 15, 2018 Posted June 15, 2018 I'd like to know why WHO's & KFOR's weather graphics didn't switch over... both their current graphics do not mesh well at all.

FWIW KTXL has been using the Fox version of this look and the weather computers are still using the same original HD look from 2009.

Big Country News 435 Posted June 16, 2018 Posted June 16, 2018 I'm sure it costs big money to get the WSI boys in just to click a few buttons.
WestleyWolf 123 Posted June 19, 2018 Posted June 19, 2018 Their still using a virtual set for weather. (like WSVN/WHDH)
AJClementeFan69 477 Posted June 21, 2018 Posted June 21, 2018 In clips I've seen of the new graphics in action, it seems as if some of the full screen graphics have this not-fully-rendered quality to them that I can't fully describe. Anyone else notice it?
