I'm split on this because as an objective journalist you can't rant personal political opinions on social media. This would be less consequential if it were an MSNBC or Fox commentator.

 

That being said, it's tough not to rant. Trump is unique in that we've never seen a president and his administration blatantly lie, bully journalists, threaten democracy and form a cult of perosnality to this degree. How can journalists tow the line of calling this out while staying objective in reporting and minimizing personal biases? It's hard!

 

Doing what Moran did however serves no one. Losing your job to rant against Trump, Miller, or anyone else in the administration on social media isn't worth it when there are thousands of opinion commentators who can do that for you. I think this warranted a conversation and a social media break not a firing however.

 

It's a shame because Moran was very good. His political analysis always did tow the line of commentary however, so it's not surprising to see him take it a step further on social media.

KGTV San Diego just moved World News Tonight on weeknights to 5:30 p.m., ending a 22-year run (starting in 2003) of carrying WNT in the 6:30 timeslot. The 6:00 pm news is now an hour and thus gives KGTV two 90-minute local news blocks in the early evening. The first from 4:00-5:30 and another from 6:00-7:30 p.m.

 

It also ends an era in San Diego as, at one point, all three network newscasts aired in different timeslots with KNSD's at 5:30, KFMB's at 6:00, and KGTV's at 6:30. That changed when KFMB moved theirs a few years back to 5:30 (more likely did so after TEGNA started owning them), and now KGTV just did the same for theirs.

Longtime WDIV reporter Hank Winchester had his home searched on June 13th and he has been placed on administrative leave. Apparently he was studying massage therapy and made unwanted sexual advances towards a man during a massage. He’s been at the station since 2001.
