Any chance David Bernard would come back to New Orleans after leaving WVUE?  It seems like he was done with TV when he left.

And as much as I would love to see Bob Breck back on TV, he's been active as a pitchman and is probably done with TV as well...

David is doing social work and is done with TV. He was pretty adamant about that.

Former WDSU evening.anchor and soon-to-be former councilwoman-at-large Helena Moreno is projected to avoid a runoff and become New.Orleans' next.mayor.

Lauren Melendez from NBC 10 Boston anchored her last weekend morning newscast yesterday. Not sure on what she is doing next but she did a good job co-anchoring over the last 3 years.

Missed this one from a few weeks back, and for a Sinclair station, it's a nice surprise.

WFGX launched "The Morning Current", an hour-long extension of WEAR's morning newscast that airs from 7-8am, finally giving WALA some local competition in the morning ever since WKRG dropped their 7am newscast almost 20 years ago (at CBS's behest during another ill-fated relaunch of "The Early Show)...

https://weartv.com/news/local/wear-news-to-launch-new-show-the-morning-current-on-wfgx

Color me surprised since I thought Sinclair was done adding secondary news shows on their secondary stations, relegating that to "TND".  They dropped a 9pm show in favor of this when it was starting to take hold...

So while Pensacola is still Sinclair's favored child, WPMI and WJTC in Mobile are being pillaged as the red-headed stepchildren of the market, and a case study in why Nexstar should NOT buy Tegna, and any top-4 mergers being proposed should be scuttled.

And stay tuned, because I'm hearing "NBC 15" might be moving soon...much like other Sinclair sidecar stations have done in recent years...so get ready for "NBC 15"....on WEAR?

We shall see.  Gracenote data uncovered on AVSForum has Roar starting on WPMI 15.1 next Monday (it's currently WEAR 3.2), so could a swap be in the works?

Expanding on my previous post...

Looking at the Zap2it listings for October 20th....
Beginning at 6am CT for WPMI 15.1, the listings change to those like "Roar" just on an hour delay of what's listed on WEAR 3.2.

WEAR 3.3 (Charge!) has "Channel No Longer Available" on that date.

So it looks very much like "NBC 15" is on the move.....

As of September 29th, the NBC American Crimes diginet is now NBC True CRMZ. Yes, that's exactly how they spell Crimes in their name.

True CRMZ

I saw that during a bandscan and was puzzled and read it as 'True Crimzzz' or 'TRUE C13IVIZ' because of how poor that font is. Just use regular letters, folks.

Larry Burns must have been in charge of the rebrand 🤣

Wasn't "Sleuth" a distant reboot of the "Trio" network?

It's sad to see what's happened to all of the "Arts and Entertainent" networks over the years.

Especially Bravo morphing from a  somewhat highbrow channel into the reality slop that it's known for today.
Another of Jeff Zucker's crimes against humanity.

It's the "Real Housewives of...." that I"m referring to...not their first reality shows like "Queer Eye" that began to shift the channel.

This is a Karen we can all love... 30 years of Karen Borta at KTVT Fort Worth is today.

October 16, 1995 was her debut. I was born 10 days later. Her tenure there is older than me. 🤣😅😂

Birmingham's "most improved" station, WIAT, is celebrating 60 years on the air...
https://www.cbs42.com/video/celebrating-60-years-of-cbs-42/11176687

Given it's tortured history during it's days at WBMG, I'd say they did a good job covering it's past before it was literally "blown up" by Media General as WIAT.

New Vision and LIN had some great years when Media General traded up to (tank) WVTM, but it's recovered nicely under Nexstar's ownership to become a fixture in the market.

Hearst undid Media General's damage at WVTM, while James Spann 33/40 soldiers on with him still doing the weather despite Sinclair's ownership.

I'm very late to the ballgame on this one, but today, I happen to be on a mini vacation back to Central Florida, go to a hotel with Spectrum on it, have Bay News 9 (also had News 13 as it was the main market for it) and guess who I saw... Erica Riggins.

For those unfamiliar, she was a household name at Bay News 9 for nearly two decades in the morning until she left in 2022 to be St. Petersburg's Public Information Officer.

Apparently, she only stayed there for 18 months as in May of last year, she went back to the place that made her famous in Tampa Bay: Bay News 9.

I saw her anchoring this morning so while its not the former weekday morning gig she once had, I was pleasantly surprised to see here there again.

Changes at WKYC starting tomorrow...

• The stupid name of GO! is finally being retired.

• What's Next becomes 3 News at 11:00

 A new half-hour newscast at 6:30pm on WKYC+.

• The morning news will start at 5:00am, no longer at 4:30am, but will continue there if breaking news or severe weather is warranted for it.

• The biggest change of them all: for the first time in 25 or so years... 3 News at Noon, airing from 12:00-1:00pm Mondays-Thursdays and 12:00-12:30pm on Fridays.

I mentioned this in the Sinclair page but once again KTUL is looking for a Chief Meteorologist as they have released Jason Nappi who had only been in the position for about 3 or 4 months.

Posted (edited)

Also in other Tulsa tv news… KOTV meteorologists Stacia Knight and Alan Crone announced they will be flipping schedules. Alan has been on 6 in the morning for 19 years while Stacia who was originally on 6ITM then went to evenings for the past 8 years on the 4 and 9pm shows rejoins the 6ITM team from 4:30am-8am (Stephen Nehrenz will remain the 8am and noon meteorologist) and Stacia will do the 9am show. This will take effect November 3rd. https://www.newson6.com/story/68f6374fbb2704d102dce12f/alan-crone-stacia-knight-swap-oklahoma-weather

Not only was it a double-header for the (re)debut of NBA on NBC, but the last game also went into double overtime.

This caused local 11p/10p shows in ET and CT to start around 12:53am/11:53pm.

Which meant more OT for the poor local news staffs staying awake to do a late show, if they even bothered to do one live....

Sadly, the stations these days are more likely to squander the OT and just pre-tape the show...

I don't think it's squandering by not doing a live show at midnight unless you are a market for one of the teams (Which in Cali, where both late teams are, it was regular late news time). Those who just casually wanted the headlines and weather found another station to watch, or looked online, and went to bed.

Would be interesting to see who did pre-tape. In many cases, it makes sense to tape- I think of some of the Gray Duos in my area (KSFY/KDLT, KVLY, KBJR) who normally simulcast, they likely ran the late news live on one channel and aired the tape on NBC after. How many also ran the news on their website/streamer live and taped for broadcast after the game?

In DC they did indeed run the 11pm newscast live on their streaming channel and reran it after the late game. I wouldn't be surprised if the the other Eastern/Central time zone O&O's went that route too.
