It’s election time … and that means WSB is bringing back the 3p news to cram in as many ads as possible, starting Monday. With Kelly Clarkson ending, perhaps it’ll stick around this time.

Temporary once again.

"WSB-TV has decided to offer local news until our next program is ready to launch."

In other words, the newscast is most likely gone again by September.

Keith Cate officially signed off from WFLA last night after a wonderful 26 year run there. He now joins these three other WFLA legends in retirement.

These three others make retirement look good.

Another chapter in Mobile television is about to close as Darwin Singleton will be retiring from NBC 15 on May 29th...

Darwin started his career in his hometown of Hazard, KY at the old WKYH before it became WYMT.  He moved to Mobile in 1987, working for WKRG until 2001, and then with WPMI and NBC 15 since then.

After a 45-year career delivering the weather on TV, the last three or so at KXAN, and including a 17-year stop at News 8 Austin, Rich Segal has called it a career.

Two things were called into business:

WDHN in Dothan, AL was on the air covering a tornado warning that affected their own station as it flew overboard.
On-air, they didn't miss a beat, while the storm was doing some significant damage to their station and grounds.

And one of the casualties looks to be their roadside sign, a landmark since the 1960s on AL 52 outside their studios in Webb, Alabama...

My best wishes to Chris Parente, the KWGN Daybreak anchor alongside Spencer Thomas.

He announced his cancer diagnosis a few days ago. 🙁

Today is a big day in the WCCO household.

30 years ago, we got introduced to someone new. I think we've heard of her before... Amelia Santaniello.

She's become A Minnesota Original (a KTCA phrase) since then and has also given us the longest husband-and-wife anchoring duo as well with Frank Vascellaro (two decades now at the desk).

Cristina Rendon has spent 12 and a half years at KTVU Oakland.

On June 13th, however, she will spend her final day there before relocating to Texas to be closer to family.

she mentioned Dallas. I wonder if FOX will let her transfer and relocate to KDFW. She’s grown so much from Reporting to Anchoring.

Liz's retirement tour at WPEC continued with special appearances from former anchors Suzanne Boyd, Eric Roby, and former sports director Pat Murphy.

EDIT: Also, this is not my photo (found via Facebook), but the WPEC studios are now named after Liz.

Later today (as of this post), she'll deliver her last newscasts before signing off for good for retirement. If video of such a sign off shows up, you'll see it here.

HUGE loss in the NEPA TV market.

Andy Mehalshick, a longtime I-Team reporter and one of WBRE's longest-serving reporters and personalities who has been there since the pre-Nexstar days starting in 1985, has been forced to medically retire (from full-time work at least) after being diagnosed with prostate cancer.

He will remain doing part-time work as health allows.

41 years at WBRE. A lasting legacy left behind for this Hazleton native.
