LiveFromDelaware 7 Posted November 3, 2023 Posted November 3, 2023 Looks like WABC is inching closer to rolling out... 7

Here's one from WTAE Pittsburgh (Hearst-owned ABC station) And here's another one past the 3:38 mark from WEWS Cleveland (Scripps-owned ABC affiliate) Watching that Brian Taff/Rick Williams promo did give off that vibe for me 2 1

Nick 94 Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 (edited) One thing that is not on the horizon is any standardization of ABC O&O graphics. CBS, NBC and FOX affiliates all have identical design. (I think local news is the poorer for that, especially CBS's rendering its stations to the "CBS News (insert market name here) " generic quality. WABC, KABC, and WLS, to name the three biggest ABC markets, are their own tooling and bear little resemblance to one another in font and design. KABC and KGO are mostly similar, except for differences in L3 color and a few other details. KABC by the way is working on the same graphics and set that made a debut in October 2015. That is some kind of record maybe. Edited November 12, 2023 by Nick 3

Nick 94 Posted November 16, 2023 Posted November 16, 2023 I think CBS News and Stations got the new look done in a hurry compared to ABC O&Os 3
ekt8750 50 Posted November 21, 2023 Posted November 21, 2023 WPVI is getting closer. They've updated the graphics for their syndie programming to the new look.

And let's hope those Happy People visuals don't go away either. All in favor of those new ABC O&O graphics for WPVI newscasts. Remember 1996 when all of Philly went apeshit over the symphonic version of MCTYW, which lasted five days on the air? Let's hope there are no riots in the streets when WPVI makes a visual refresh. 4 1 1 1 1

If they're going to standardize, might it be the music too, except for the open? 1
Weeters 1969 Posted November 22, 2023 Posted November 22, 2023 Oh, this again. Fun fact: It's been longer since WPVI tried changing music (27 years) than it was from when they started using MCTYW to when they tried changing it (24 years.) Only on TVNT will a graphics package or set that's older than 5 years be declared "ancient", but a music package used for 50+ years is something that shouldn't be touched. A lot has changed in the last 27 years (namely declining viewership!) and I suspect that a subtle modernization of the music (the 1996 version was anything but subtle, it was a drastic change that tried to make MCTYW into a serious, The Mission-style orchestral news package, which it is definitely not) wouldn't result in the "riots in the street" people around here like to imagine happening. We know they have selection of 615-made cuts they've been using for a few years now, I would imagine most viewers are now used to hearing "the music" that's not specifically the 1972 version. 14 1

I observed a few days ago that KABC in Los Angeles had a "Live with Kelly and Mark" promo with the new graphics, though I don't foresee a graphics change on its news broadcasts anytime soon. Vlad 330 Posted November 22, 2023 Posted November 22, 2023 (edited) KABC did change their on-air "bug" though it now just says "abc.7.com" and they updated to the new smaller ABC ball. Edited November 22, 2023 by 24994J

The new logo on the bug has been used since August. But you only see this version for online videos after it airs.
wofchristian 46 Posted November 23, 2023 Posted November 23, 2023 Did anyone else notice 6ABC changed to the new bug in the middle of the parade? They are certainly close to switching over to the new graphics. 3
24994J 5621 Posted November 23, 2023 Posted November 23, 2023 Finally switching to the new logo, during a parade, 2 years after network's initial rebrand rollout isn't really a sign of anything. 7
Flyer78 66 Posted November 26, 2023 Posted November 26, 2023 Conspiracy: they did that on purpose during high parade viewership, hoping it would go unnoticed. 6
EJ Velazquez 52 Posted November 28, 2023 Posted November 28, 2023 HEADS UP: Watching KFSN (ABC30) Fresno’s streaming shows and this happened. As you guys like to say, *cough cough* It’s happening! *cough cough* 1
EJ Velazquez 52 Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 Looks like ABC 30 (Fresno/Central California) has officially made the switch! Streaming the Live @ 3 now! Tried getting my best screenshots from premiere evening. 4
wofchristian 46 Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 Here’s a look at KFSN’s new graphics. https://youtu.be/nhhx5jvSTIw?si=lTnl45xkE6Nd_KRs 1
EJ Velazquez 52 Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 Looks like KGO (ABC7 News Bay Area) may be cooking soon, at least in the AccuWeather department; here’s what their new 7 Day Forecast looks like on their website, they may be debuting their first piece really soon, finally!
CircleSeven 1960 Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 (edited) Is that Arial I see? Hope this is a test and not made it on the air. Edited December 6, 2023 by CircleSeven 1

Looks like it is, this might be a prototype but we’ll see if they stick with Arial, I like the default Proxima Nova font though. The weather maps on their website and app also use Arial for LiveDoppler 7.
