Honestly, I hope Mission gets stuck with this station.

As much of a hot mess Kevin Adell is, I think Nexstar got in way too deep after getting full control of the CW.

Unless Nexstar sells off 7-8 percent of  population reach, they're stuck with a station that can't even air the entire CW output.

That's probably a good reason Sinclair hasn't bought a network (like MyNetwork).  Surprised it hasn't hit Ion/Scripps as well since they're way over the line in reach.

Getting the CW in Detroit is going to be even harder than CBS had to scramble in 1994.  At least they stayed on Channel 62!  So far, CW has bounced from WKBD....to WADL....to WMYD...and who knows after that?  (WDIV as a subchannel is probably the likeliest....)

Here are the options:

Any Windsor, Ontario stations are an big NO.

WJBK is an bit of an problem, they could put the MyNet program service on 2.2 or an its main signal on late nights.

WDIV is the most likely.

WXYZ, WKBD, WWJ, WADL, WMYD, or any other station won't be an option.

WDIV will probably get the affiliation it’s kinda impossible to land somewhere else. So I see why Mission wants to close.

Okay question, what if WDIV declines to put the CW on one of it's digital sub channels?  Then what does Nexstar do?

Pretty simple here: the CW winds up without a Detroit affiliate.

It's complicated.

The CW / Nexstar could ask cable companies in Detroit to put stations like WLAJ-DT2 in Lansing, Michigan, WBSF in Bay City (Michigan Thumb), or WTVG-DT2 in Toledo, Ohio.

On-Air; Well, good luck with that.

They could also launch their own cable-only station with the Plus feed and have someone handle advertising.

Kevin's letter is nothing but a word salad and begging Nexstar/Mission to close the deal which Nexstar will let the agreement expire at the end of June. Kevin sells it to a religious broadcaster for less than $75 Million. I could see Nexstar putting CW+ feed in Detroit if they can't get WDIV although would have to find something else for TMZ & TMZ Live I think WJBK airs both those shows in Detroit.
