The voice over is a real person her name is Posy Brewer and from what I could find on her is she’s a vo that is over in the UK.

That explains why she doesn’t quite sound right. Her American accent is a put on most likely. I hope we keep Brian Lee here in Detroit if the alternative may be that sort of thing. We had Sonny Warner doing a few promos about 15 years ago or so… but she sounded reasonable.

It feels more jarring to me because WTMJ had Black VOs the last few years like Mia Bankston that worked perfectly for them, so I just don't like the idea of them being replaced by flavorless neutral voices.
