10 years in, KGO has decided to refresh its news set starting today.

It was just mentioned in the 6pm show that they are getting a set refresh and will be temporarily broadcasting in various parts of the newsroom until the remodel is finished.

Here’s a look at the current set now under a refresh

And just a little throwback, sometimes I wonder how their lofty secondary studio would’ve looked like if they were not in the newsroom during this transition since they are leasing it to KRON.

Looks like something Tegna based their entire set design on except, you know, well done.

Agreed that the The 7 live studio gives Tegna vibes.

The main studio looks very NBC O&Oish.

Same designer. Clickspring Design.

This set has been one of my favorites for a long time, and I think it aged really well.

It’ll be interesting to see the refresh. Since a new GM has taken over, KGO has taken a more traditional, meat and potatoes approach to news, so I’m guessing the end result will be pretty conservative in design.

I way loved that WTVJ set, though I wished the monitor on the front of the anchor desk wasn't just 22".

The updated set debuted at 11am today. They added a big video wall next to the weather center for weather, and it looks like they added a similar video wall to the demo/interview set. Otherwise, everything looked the same from what I saw.
