broadcastfan9751 150 Posted yesterday at 06:55 AM Posted yesterday at 06:55 AM Big news this morning. Comcast will split into two independent companies. One will include the media and entertainment business (including NBCUniversal) and the other will include the broadband and wireless business. https://www.nbcnews.com/business/business-news/comcast-spinoff-nbcuniversal-sky-split-two-companies-rcna352188
MD TV 406 Posted yesterday at 07:39 AM Posted yesterday at 07:39 AM So after all that trouble to have Comcast acquire NBCU it's effectively being reversed.
tyrannical bastard 4684 Posted yesterday at 10:56 AM Posted yesterday at 10:56 AM Good. This merger should have never happened in the first place. In saner times, Disney should be next, at least with Hulu & Fubo being under their total control now.

That could be trickier, since Disney is basically a media company with a theme parks division. 1
ABC 7 Denver 1895 Posted yesterday at 01:05 PM Posted yesterday at 01:05 PM You know what's going to happen in about 1 year before Trump leaves or is removed from office, right? The FCC is going to approve the acquisition of NBCUniversal by ParamountWarnerBrothersDiscoverySkydance. Functionally, Carr doesn't give a shit if CBS and NBC are owned by one company, especially because it will take Fallon and Meyers off the air and put Bari over NBCNews too. Why have any independent local media at all? 2

Megatron81 344 Posted yesterday at 03:36 PM Posted yesterday at 03:36 PM Not surprised I saw it coming when they split the cable channels last year.

This week, it appears to mostly be repeats of Ridiculousness, The Big Bang Theory, and The Office. So it's Comedy Central with a shorter name.
nickp 395 Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago My longshot pick is NBCU getting together with Universal Music 1

MTV is a dead brand in its current form since music videos are all over the internet and so many FAST channels do it way better.
ABC 7 Denver 1895 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago This seems to be the first time in a long time that a broadcast network will be publicly owned independently of a subsidiary. I'll have to follow up with a friend of mine, high up in management at Versant if she thinks the cable networks and NBCUniversal will remain separate.
