tyrannical bastard 3951
What I would love to know is who is STILL in 4x3 SD! I think these days, the HD launches of the past would be a major embarrassment if done today, unless it's some itty bitty market like Glendive where transitioning to digital was a herculean task in itself.... TheRolyPoly 2415
Sorry to bump this thread that is months OLD! But, WSTM Channel 3 and WSTQ Channel 14/Cable 6 are FINALLY going to be in HD after broadcasting in 16:9 widescreen SD for nearly 6 years! As you can see on this link, a new set will be constructed as well. Plus... get ready for the Sinclair-ization graphics. http://cnycentral.com/news/local/watch-high-def-facelift-for-nbc3-cw6-news-studio-begins Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/2281-the-hd-news-thread/page/47/#findComment-147639 Share on other sites

Viper550 291
CKCO has apparently gone partially to HD. Studio shots are widescreen SD but some remotes and the graphics are in HD. Conrad 113
Bumping a thread that hasn't been updated in nearly 5 months, but has WIVT gone HD or widescreen SD (considering they introduced new graphics lately)? Another thing is that with the new ATSC 3.0 standard, there might be stations broadcasting local news in 4K in the next decade or two. Conrad 113
Bumping this thread to say that KETV went HD in October 2015, when they moved into their new studios. Conrad 113
Sorry to bump a thread that is close to 2 years old. Weeters 1916
Can't confirm this directly, but according to this post from a retired engineer, as of September 5th, Two Thousand and Twenty, almost 14 years since this thread was created... WDSU-TV New Orleans is finally HD, debuting a new fully-HD control room. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1425282661005351/permalink/1548173738716242/ Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/2281-the-hd-news-thread/page/47/#findComment-250637 Share on other sites

Although through online viewing, (and watching prior to today for the past several months) it's harder to tell if the online compression is making it look below HD, or if it's really high quality standard definition. So this means that WGNO should be fully HD by the year 2029? Maybe WVUE goes 4k in 2027. I should've been more clear in my original post as I wondered whether Hearst converted WMTW's news to HD when they moved to Westbrook. ME.
