Bob Schiffer filling in for Scott Pelley, apparently this is Bob's last time ever at the CBSEN desk. Wish he'd stayed on as anchor from '05 until his retirement.

I have returned to making Videos with a new Youtube Channel and working out the issues with the last channel. The First News open I uploaded was Today's WTOV 5 PM Open.

KIMA Action News at 11 on 12/18/2014. With anchor Terry Chick, who would be let go within a few months or so. Bare-bones as can be...I was so glad when this 'set' was sent packing. Terry pre-recorded a 11PM segment from Tri-CIties for the Yakima market. Scott Stovall still does the same thing today.

(Skip to 2:32) My knowledge of the Chicago market is still growing so I was  surprised to see the legendary Bill Curtis/Walter Jacobson pairing still intact as late as 2013. I wish stations weren't so averse to do male pairings these days.

By 2009, Rob Johnson was anchoring evenings solo, and ratings were rising. That fall, Bill was brought in to shoot some promos and feature some of his cold case investigations. At some point, Walter returned to do his commentaries. In November '09, Rob was off, and the station heavily promoted a one night only reunion of the legends on the 10pm news. It was well-received, and they were installed as 6pm co-anchors by September of 2010. Once their contracts ran out in (I think) February '13, they were "retired." Given a full farewell, but it wasn't really their choice.

WPLG News Clip 2024. Definately some essence of WSVN's tabloid feel. I wonder if the studio cameras are either low level HD, or the set is just badly lit. The anchors can come off sharp and grainy sometimes.

KTUL produced a special commemorating its 70th anniversary, which is somewhat bittersweet given what little respect Sinclair gave to the station since acquiring it in 2014, having run aground its news operation to where it’s now mostly farmed out to Oklahoma City sister KOKH last November (it was among the ~10 stations whose news programming or operations that Sinclair cut in 2023).

NBC Sports Chicago, ahead of it's sign off on September 30th, produced a special that aired after last night's White Sox/Orioles game looking back the top Chicago sports moments over the 20 yrs. NBSCHI was around when it was also Comcast SportsNet Chicago.

WJZ 2012. I'm surprised the CBS owned and operated television station was allowed to look this graphically horrendous as late

2012. These are college newscast quality lower thirds.

I had to record this from Friday night because 1... its WRAL. 2... its In-Sink. 3... the teaser and breaking news cuts together is just pure magic. More details are in the description of this video.
