And now I present to you, back from the dead...the oldest KIMA NewsBeat clips I have! And of course, thanks to Eric and the AVTB folks for giving me some storage space back on YouTube.

Some KCRA footage from what looks like the late '70s (I don't think the year 1982 is correct) showing off their transition to tape and live microwave technology.  I love how Bob Whitten is showing off the LiveCamera 3 van and it's microwave equipment... but it looks like its not even installed yet. 😁

Cool find - those styles look more like mid 70s. For a history museum you’d hope they get dates right - they’re almost 10 years off on this one!

Looks like they've updated it to 1974 for the thumbnail.

Local morning opens from the 90's are typical hard to find, but here's 2 from Chicago (1998).

Robin Meade on WMAQ:

Mary Ann Childers (and Dave Price) on WBBM:

Meanwhile, back to nightside opens (1997).

Guess they created that set out of a bed bath and beyond catalog. 😆

Reminds me more of the TV-AM set

Here's 2 hours of KUVN from 1996 which features NOTICIAS 23.

I also want to share this, a rare news open of KVEA from 1989:

Easily the best looking news open for a Telemundo station at the time.

1993 WFLA "NewsWatch 8" Update using the 1992 graphics that would get dumped in August of '93. The backdrop behind Diane is unusual and I suspect this might be just before the switch to "NewsChannel 8"

WTSP 1993 morning news promo with Al Ruechel and Madeleine Holland:

Back in the late 1970s, stations like KSAT in San Antonio, TX and WPLG in Miami, FL used Klein&'s "The One & Only" music package. Well, did you know that Guam Cable TV used that theme for its newscasts?

We take you back to 1990 where Guam Cable TV used Klein&'s "The One & Only" to introduce their local news.

WALA using THEIR OWN Take on the NBC News 1983 Graphics Package for the open and close. Not to mention using the NBC Nightly News electronic theme from that time period. WALA is now FOX 10, while NBC is at WPMI 15 (aka NBC 15)

Several minutes of KAPP Local News at 11, from 1/8/2003. Anchor is Janice Miller

Meanwhile, that night's 'Up Close' from ABC has been reposted. This was the short-lived filler program that aired at 12:05 in between the end of Politically Incorrect and before Jimmy Kimmel went on the air. One person of interest was interviewed for the whole half-hour timeslot.

Time to go back to some childhood memories. Dan & Kathi...the best TV news anchors in Seattle. Ever. Kathi, you are forever and ever missed.

Meanwhile, I just reuploaded this rare 1995 KRCR newscast that looks like it's 5 or 6 years behind the times. Small town TV at its finest, and crude graphics especially in the WX forecasts.

And back to Seattle for part of KSTW's 10 O'Clock News from Feb 6, 1993.

Is this specifically "news"? Not really.

Is it a clip from just this week? Technically.

Is it funny and less than 2 minutes of your life you won't mind not getting back? Yes.

KTVM clips have returned from the dead, nearly-complete 9/17/91 newscast and a clip from 1989.

And current "Wait Wait, Don't Tell Me!" scorekeeper Bill Kurtis on this clip of the CBS Evening News from Labor Day 1984.

From Papua New Guinea's first television network, EMTV (at one point owned by Nine Network Australia):

A history of their news operations, including audio of their version of the "Who's Who of News" campaign, plus shots of their news set:

A 1989 tape consisting primarily of advertisements, but glimpses of the title sequences for National EMTV News (one segment showing that they too used Nine Network's version of "Tar Sequence" and the ABC News globe - they're still using the 2000 National Nine News version of that theme to this day, actually) and Bisnis (a business program in Tok Pisin, a creole language) plus their version of "Still the One" (also in Tok Pisin) and the open of a weather bulletin from former Nine affiliate QTV in Queensland near the end of this video:

And as a bonus, a 1987 promo from that campaign:
