WFLA has done this for quite some time now with WFLA News NOW at 11am, doing it from their WFLA NOW streaming studio.

Definitely worth mentioning his announcement on the national level, but did the need to mention on GMA Saturday and GMA Monday, as well as WNT Friday and WNT Monday?
- Today

Not sure I get that complaint really. Stepping off the desk was overdue for Bill and that had become obvious to anyone watching. That said the abruptness of his finale was jarring, I mean it was tough watching him on GMA with those notes in his hands. It even seemed at one point the hosts had to guide him back on track. Tough to process that his decline wasn’t just ordinary aging but actually a debilitating cognitive decline. I think it’s perfectly acceptable for him to continue working in some capacity so long as it’s not a distraction to the viewer like his nightly anchoring had become. Especially given the scope of his reduced capacity which will be focused on Alzheimer’s. He’s earned that.

Why should they do anything but what he, his employer, his family, and his doctors agree is best for all involved?

Ok now that’s a little much. Cue him live in studio saying he works for a different station or is in a different city or is a plumber or something. He should just gracefully be gone into the sunset. If they assigned another reporter to check in with him and did a series of reports in his honor that would make more sense.

Yes they have had separate newscast just share reporters.

Has KODE always had separate(ish) newscasts since they consolidated with KSNF? These shows are much more efficient and cost-effective than full blown newscasts. Hosts run their own graphics, roll their own video, etc. And the components are likely a fraction of the cost of traditional broadcast equipment. (PTZ cameras, podcast mics, Elgato controllers, etc...) The cost is high for what they blew up to replace them with. But the return on investment may be just enough to be a second voice in an ecosystem Nexstar created for themselves through relentless cost-cutting and consolidation. It's not prime time, but it's certainly better than simulcasting or giving up local content altogether...

WFRV has a 3:30 show that is very podcast-esque called "Local 5 News Off the Desk."

Beginning Monday, September 14th, WLWT will become the first station in Cincinnati television history to go a full hour of weeknight news at 7:00 p.m. It also becomes the first station, at least that I'm aware of, to announce that it will replace the now-canceled Access Hollywood (currently there at 7:30 p.m.) with an extra half-hour of local news. https://www.wlwt.com/article/wlwt-announces-newscast-expansion-730-pm-coming-this-fall/71590477

Liz Cho is anchoring solo tonight by the way for the 6pm. A teary Liz acknowledged Bill's departure today and she emphasized on how he will move on to a new role of doing reporting on Alzheimers from this point on. So tough to watch. . At least he will still be there with them for the time being as long as he's able to.

Bill McDonnell started following Fox to buy Roku for $22 billion

They're going to have to sell more than just two or three channels, especially since Paramount is, I believe, currently set to have the largest number of cable channels of any company. I'm thinking at least 10-15 channels. Also, they should be forced to choose between HBO (and HBO Max) and CNN. If anything, that requirement would reveal what David Ellison considers to be more important. Does he want to have the major premium channel and its associated streaming service, or does he want to appease Trump?

KODE in Joplin cause they have posted this. Also KFOR’s 6:30pm newscast is now a podcast style newscast called The Breakdown. https://www.youtube.com/live/GkIyMCz78zk?is=RAbqmpLz6SNVSuBl

World Cup causing some odd gaps in the usually continuous 4-7 block... whoever was anchoring the 4pm hour (on 9 due to the soccer) was cut off mid-trying to tell viewers presumably to turn over to 5 by the beginning of Family Feud (9 airs 8 episodes of Feud an evening, although I believe the only new episodes come at 7/7:30) This would be fine if the game hadn't run late and delayed the start of the 5 O'clock by 8 minutes, thus giving 8 minutes for people to end up finding and sticking on other newscasts or shows. Certainly they could've started on 9, simulcast up to, say, 5:30, then 9 could've left for Feud?

Brheanna Boudreaux is leaving WWL-TV at the end of the week to head back to Houston and this time, join KHOU 11 as evening anchor, mainly at 4:00pm. https://www.chron.com/news/houston-texas/article/brheanna-boudreaux-khou-11-22305865.php?utm_campaign=trueanthem%2B3985&utm_medium=social&utm_source=instagram

DOJ Clears Paramount/Warner Megamerger
ABC 7 Denver replied to ABC 7 Denver's topic in Corporate Chat
I doubt the EU will approve it. -
Avery Cotton, longtime anchor and reporter at WFLA, is stepping down on Friday after 10 years at the station and it also sounds like she's leaving the business entirely. https://www.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1568416177983037&id=100044440089563

The title should say 22 billion. I knew it couldn't be for that little.

Fox buying Roku for that much is wild

It's official. Milwaukee's "Worst Kept Secret" has been revealed. Ousted WISN Meteorologist Lindsey Slater officially joined TMJ4. She will be on 4-6pm with Chief Met. Brian Niznansky during the week and aid with severe weather coverage.

The EU will prove the merger as the land down under Aussie has already approved the deal. And I believe that Ellisons will sell the some of the cable networks as I have heard there willing to sell nick or Cartoon Network.
-
I thought it was going to be Comcast that was going to be buying Roku. I didn't think it would've been FOX since they own Tubi I see them meagering Tubi & Roku in my opinion.
-
I initially disclosed it, but retracted it, as I forgot that I received it as kind of private info. I will say that it's debuting today at 5 CT. I'll post about it then.

And that station is...?
