  1. Past hour
  2. Today
  3. TIL Rick Telander joined the station as a special columnist. (14 years at Sports Illustrated & the last 30 at the Chicago Sun-Times)
  4. I’m not saying it makes sense for the reason you stated, but they have a 6-hour morning show. Gotta fill it with … something
  5. Yesterday
  6. Paxton owns a number of newspapers in the Evansville area: Princeton, Vincennes, Dubois County, Warrick County, Perry County, Spencer County just in Indiana alone; Owensboro, Madisonville, McLean County in KY, and a newspaper cluster in the Illinois Tri-State counties. Hard to tell what would happen there.
  7. Having O&Os in NFC markets for sure. For example, Fox 32 has a 5-person sports team, Fox 9 has 4-person and Fox 6 and Fox 2 each have a 3-person team. These 4 stations also have their own weekly NFL/NFC North show (1st and North) along with other sports-related programming. That said, it appears that it's ultimately up to each individual Fox O&O to determine its sports coverage (how much/or little) and not necessarily the Fox corporate overlords.
  8. If anything, WOFL/WOGX's Sports segments could be taped and done by WTVT or at least their podcast "No Off Days" could be shown weekly. WTVT also co-produces Florida Tonight with WOFL.
  9. Part of ESPN's operations in New York are moving to WABC-TV/ABC News' headquarters at 7 Hudson Square. https://espnpressroom.com/us/press-releases/2025/06/espns-get-up-first-take-unsportsmanlike-moving-to-new-home-at-7-hudson-square-in-new-york-city/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=espns-get-up-first-take-unsportsmanlike-moving-to-new-home-at-7-hudson-square-in-new-york-city&utm_source=ESPN+Front+Row&utm_campaign=04ef203bf5-MediaZone_Daily_RSSFed_Digest&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_d3cee178e6-04ef203bf5-138324565
  10. Kinda wild Fox 26 is shuttering the sports department Mark Berman built
  11. Aside from the Astros, Houston is not a market that Fox has a vested interest in sports-wise. The Texans are an AFC team that's had some better years but that's CBS's problem in their eyes. Wonder if the same will happen in Orlando? Austin seems to hold on despite it not having any teams of their own, but feeds on the surrounding markets like DFW, Houston and San Antonio.
  12. Looks like Comcast wanted exclusivity for carrying CHSN; outside non-Comcast markets like Iowa, Indy and Milwaukee, CHSN is being taken off OTA as of Monday, including WJYS.
  13. “We did not eliminate the sports department — we eliminated the sports anchor position,” Keane said. “We’re still going to cover sports extensively both with a reporter in the mornings and we’re going to gather and distribute sports content across all sports whenever there’s breaking news." Typical corporate jargon speak. They did eliminate the sports department. If you let go of people whose job it was to do a very specific task, you eliminated the department and shifted the workload elsewhere. Also, specifically covering sports with a reporter in the morning? When nothing sportswise happens? Those reporters aren't going to have the same connections and relationships that the sports department will.
  14. I'm baffled by this -- Isn't this why they wanted O&O's in the major sports markets?? Interesting to see what their "long-term" plan is with this....
  15. As if this cursed deal and the people around it aren't enough chaos already, Shari Redstone has thyroid cancer, so once again it's another Viacom/CBS/Paramount deal where a Redstone's health is throwing a wrench into the works. I hope she gets well, but I'm sorry about what they're doing to your baby, Bill Paley.
  16. Last week
  17. Probably. But they could end up having their digital content team fully take over Sports coverage too. It appears to be a pretty large one (of 7-8 people).
  18. I agree. From what I read (from reliable sources) is that 'if' Clarkson were to end her show; it would be so that she can focus on her family. That's a more plausible reason (to end the show) to me.
  19. The source for the above is the Daily Mail and they have no idea what they (or the anonymous source) are talking about. There's a good reason nobody usually uses a Yahoo News syndication article that's from a pink slime SEO operation.
  20. Article in People Magzinehttps://people.com/tv-anchor-husband-dead-at-age-42-brain-cancer-chicago-11745142
  21. Let me guess, anchors give a few words with video, no in-depth coverage.
  22. More about that https://www.chron.com/sports/article/fox-26-houston-cuts-sports-department-will-kunkel-20362890.php
  23. Extremely disappointing decision since it's a Fox O&O. If more stations including O&Os join in eliminating the sports department, who knows what they could do...
  24. https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/articles/kelly-clarkson-tormented-talk-show-133000022.html Kelly Clarkson will reportedly leaver her talk show in 2026. If so that's a shame. She was one of the better daytime hosts. I really enjoy her and Sherri, Jennifer Hudson is okay too.
  25. Paxton, who owns WPSD, would be a good choice for WEVV. WEVV has had poor ownership going back for years. Paxton could save that station from the mess it's become.
  26. Wild that an O&O in such a major pro (and college) sports town would cut the entire department.
  27. WCPO's Craig McKee moves from WCPO to KNXV per FTVLive
  28. CHSN will be available for Xfinity Ultimate TV tier customers on Friday. https://chicago.suntimes.com/sports-media/2025/06/05/chicago-sports-network-comcast-xfinity-cable-friday-white-sox-bulls-blackhawks-marquee-sports-network-cubs
