  1. Past hour
  2. North Platte is the smallest market that still puts out newscasts of their own. Even Alpena has largely ceded their news to Traverse City and Sinclair, with just a short local blip in the "B" block of their 10pm show. What's the smallest market with an all-local operation these days? May be Victoria, TX since Presque Isle's WAGM now simulcasts WABI's morning show from Bangor. The buyer of KXGN would likely turn them into an affiliate of all 4 networks, much like WBKB in Alpena. Surprised Morgan Murphy hasn't taken the plunge..yet.
  3. Yesterday evening, Veo7 relaunched on DTT, replacing Gol Play.
  4. Today
  5. It seems he still appears on the 10am but it seems lately the days vary. It used to be Tuesday Wednesday Thursday, but I’ve seen him on Fridays recently too. I have not seen him on the 6am hour of the morning show in quite some time though, and his picture was removed from morning newscast video thumbnails.
  6. I noticed Sam is on GMA this week and not filling in for anyone. Has he still been on the 10am newscast?
  7. RIP to the Glendive market.
  8. I am hoping that Scripps (yes, them.) would aquire KXGN-TV to fit in with the Montana Television Network.
  9. France TF1 + Netflix = A huge landmark deal starting next year will see TF1's live TV channels and on demand content from TF1+ to appear on Netflix. This could be the start of a huge trend worldwide. https://about.netflix.com/en/news/netflix-and-tf1-group-join-forces-to-bring-tf1-to-netflix-members-in-france
  10. WBNS 1988 weekend newscast. The set was short lived and replaced shortly after this. Current WFLA anchor Keith Cate at the anchor desk:
  11. KULR is basically ran, news wise, from Missoula and Spokane (in WA). Evening news now comes from Missoula and morning news comes from Spokane (but is marketed as local). It’s been a bare bones operation for a handful of years and is getting worse by the year. KXGN is going to be a repeater for its new buyer, most likely.
  12. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh okay. I got confused. I think he meant 4 am-7 pm, outside of GH on WABC-TV, all coming from 7 Hudson Square. Yes... that is true.
  13. 40 years ago yesterday (at the time of this post)... June 17th, 1985 at 3:00 p.m. ET:
  14. WNBC 4 Gilma Avalos subbed for someone at TELEMUNDO47 last week They're integrated already side by side
  15. Like in the early years of the Times Square studio era, I wonder if "GMA" will incorporate an outdoor concert series on the rooftop of 7 Hudson Sqaure sometime in the future. Of course, with more space limitations than in Times Square, it would need to be intimate, but I feel that it would be provide the program a great opportunity to showcase some of the gorgeous sights from that roof of Lower Manhattan.
  16. That's quite something! The Walt Disney Co. will certainly be getting its money's worth out of that production facility, to say the least.
  17. Ian is likely on Paternity Leave… Steve Bender might just be on vacation?
  18. I'm guessing OP didn't mean live tapings in that window, just that the shows that air then are all from that building. GMA3 isn't live at 1, either, if we went by your thinking.
  19. I did some research... according to this website, TVTaping.com, Tamron Hall tapes her show at 8:15 a.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. In other words, there's a 2-4 pm break, I assume. https://www.tvtaping.com/tvshows/tamron-hall
  20. Another thing I noticed, on a positive note, is that when Haley Meier fills in earlier during the day, they're now having fill-in hosts (notably Ari Sarsalari) fill in on Fox Weather @ Night, rather than skip that program all together.
  21. Two departures in the Harrisburg/Lancaster/Lebanon York, PA market, both announced today (6/17). Anne Shannon is leaving WGAL, after 25 years with the station. Her last day is Friday. https://www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=1287192696306556&set=a.253106666381836 Also, Jasmine Brooks is departing WHP-TV for what appears to be a job in another market (Philadelphia perhaps?). Her last day is a week from Friday. https://www.facebook.com/JasmineCBS21/videos/1081628803818139
  22. Yesterday
  23. Without question, sets with very little physical elements are the future (whether it's at the national or local level). I think in GMA case, more tighter shots and less wide shots would lessen the studio's cavernous feel. Plus, leaving certain pieces in place (chairs, tables, etc... instead of moving them in/out) would help create some depth. Kudos to them for adding some plants, but a painting, a credenza (or two) and some vases wouldn't have broken the budget...
  24. Yeah that is a cool effect, taking cues and probably tech from the Depth Wall on ESPN.
  25. Eva Pilgrim presented a report in the 7:30 half hour this morning.
  26. I will say ESPN's video wall sets are way better done than anything on network or local news.
  27. Is it possible they're both off this week? Ratings have been solid/stable, so there's no reason to get rid of them. Missing premiere week of the new studio may be 'suspicious', but it could be mean nothing at all....
  28. Sadly, that's just time just getting away from the model that morning news, local and national, should just start your day with light fare and very short mention of the crime roll, including a softer theme. Once the Fox/Tribune morning news model became standard, the calm model has disappeared to get you out the door like a triple Red Bull shot (remember how their ESPN counterpart Get Up had the original slogan of 'get up, get sports, and get going'? Has not been that way for years), with the light themes all but gone and just as aggressive as they are at 6pm. It was clear when Kimmel switched from a structured duratrans background to a full screen, along with ESPN's digital center that this would be the future for all set design; less physical pieces, more screens. But even though it was from my most loathed segment, I do love how it's possible to frame each screen in the background to make it feel fuller, and create space like seen below.
