  1. 8NewsNow.com should be the primary URL (which it once was before the Nexstar acquisition), since "Las Vegas Now" is also the title of the station's pay-to-play lifestyle show. Heck, I'd even settle for KLASTV.com

  2. As I said in the MLB Thread, the National need to somehow find a way to get off of MASN and onto NBC Sports Washington, where they would have a chance to get games OTA via WRC and in market streaming. The Nationals have been treated badly by the Orioles since they moved from Montreal in 2005. As for MASN, is it me, or are they the Nexstar of RSNs?

  3. It's not a newscast, but one listen should explain why I put it here...

  4. Which is one of the problems facing broadcast televison. Do millennials care to watch live news when they can just learn everything on their smartphones on their own time?

  5. Ah! What a year it was for my marlins. Yippee!

  6. It appears WMC and reporter Brix Fowler have parted ways. His bio is no longer on the station's website. Additionally, weekday morning reporter Jerica Phillips, who has been filling in on weekend mornings for the past several months, has been officially promoted to anchor of those newscasts (which were also recently expanded). She will continue to report during the week as well.

  7. Also, this... That’s “The Ticket”, isn’t it?

  8. All of that could be true. But it's also probably easier for management to get other anchors to sub in for the 5 than the 11. So, if she asked for a reduced schedule, she may have been told her option was to sit out for the 5 and do the 11.

  9. "Many thanks to WBZ-TV Creative Services Director Peter Masucci who dreamed up the idea; to Promotions guru Sean Barnacoat who produced it; to photographer Sean Collins who shot every scene; and to editor Michael Ruzicka who spent hours bringing this together." Make sure you add comments in the bottom of the article to express appreciation. Amazed the archives even still exist, let alone they spend months producing it. My favorite detail is how they managed to get a sales guy who looks just like the old fisherman.

  11. CBS must have thrown enough of a fit about golf preemption for both WJZ and WUSA to drop local baseball

  12. Maybe they made the price exhorbanant to keep it all in house. The Nationals are now MASN only as well. Edit: Sounds like the decision was made by MASN. And we have a quote from our Helvetica Chief KC. http://www.baltimoresun.com/entertainment/tv/z-on-tv-blog/bs-fe-zontv-orioles-masn-wjz-20180327-story.html

  13. And that's too bad because people that have dropped cable deserves better than that. I think the only time WTTG/WBFF will pick up games involving either the Nationals, Orioles or the combination of the two is if one or both teams appear on Fox's Baseball Night in America other than that, that'll be the only time Antenna/Streaming-only viewers will be able to watch either the Nationals, Orioles, or both.

  14. KLAS could probably get by with its current URL, since LasVegasNow.com has at least some tie-in with the "8 News Now" branding.

  15. It works fine for me - it is not a private video. Are you located outside of the United States? That’s the only reason why I would imagine it would be blocked for you.

  17. KCTV is doubling down on bringing former TV personalities back to TV. They got former KMBC meteorologist Erin Little earlier this year. Now former WDAF traffic anchor/producer Bill Hurrelbrink has joined the KCTV morning show.

  18. They currently do not have a general manager or news director. I don't think it's likely they're "trying" anything. I think they're probably in a state of leaving everything where it is and keeping the engine running until someone is in charge.

  20. Holy crap that is really awesome. They picked the right promo to redo - One 4 All is one of my favorite promos ever to begin with - and they completely nailed the execution. They actually posted a story on their website about the reshoot. It's a must-read: http://boston.cbslocal.com/2018/03/26/wbz-one-4-all-promo-remake/

  22. Cecilia seems like too valuable a player to be doing a diminished GMA news anchor role. She should stay in Washington and build her cred as a leading political correspondent, and then a few years down the road move on to anchoring full time. I think it's time GMA drop the news anchor role like Today did. Also, I'm sure Amy will still fill-in for Robin when she goes to 20/20. Elizabeth has all these years.

  24. "Steve" on WEWS is now going up against "Family Feud" - hosted by Steve Harvey - on WOIO. So it's Steve vs. Steve in Cleveland!! Weren't both shows not supposed to air opposite each other?

  26. No, WKBW and WMYD were sold by Granite to Scripps months before the Journal merger.

  27. You can still see Nexstar influence over the organization. From taking away employee benefits to cheap sets and graphics, to forcing stations to use Stephen Arnold themes.

  28. It seems as if Media General bought Nexstar and not the other way around because if you notice not only did the former MG stations retain their websites but the executives of Media General (and LIN before Media General acquired LIN) has taken over Nexstar. I actually think that Nexstar has changed for the better post-Media General merger and I hope the existing Nexstar stations (including the legacy stations) do away with "localhomepage.net"

  29. Kristen Nicole is the name that you're looking for. Maybe she takes over for Anita (who then goes back to just reporting) or Kristen goes back to GDC Weekends where she started when she came to WFLD. They needed another guy on the mornings and Anthony is a solid pick.

  35. It looks like these were mostly non-news positions in production, really.

  36. That’s sad to hear especially the loss of technical positions. Were the positions specifically in the production unit or included possible automation for Un Nuevo Dia, Al Rojo Vivo and Noticiero Telemundo? I am not sure about bilingual actors I imagine native bilingual journalists could be a differentiator in a job application for dual language duopolies (which of course is NBC/Telemundo). I wonder if they are paid more? I’ve noticed some photogs in Chicago and Boston swap back and forth between WMAQ/WSNS and WBTS/WNEU. NBC has been sharing lately - I forget the woman’s name - and in their coverage of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico. Also at the end of Telemundo’s superseries they have the Telemundo endcap along with Getty Hispanic. I can only find information about their stock / news images in Latin America. Could Getty be used just to set the scene?
