The Chris Sloan archive gravy train keeps giving. There's even some rare KHJ from 1988! The 9:00 VO at the time would later do a lot of ABC Sports work in the late 80s and 90s. The 1:00 one was a longtime station staff announcer. Also some Louisville, including a variant of the Copeland/Symphony opens and a longer TVbD open with the "neo Home Country" theme: And there's a cool Easter egg in this KCBS noon open from 1988:4 points

Philadelphia as a market is very geOgraphicaLly dIverse and vasT--not partIcularly easy to get to the Coverage area they serve--so you have to consider thAt they're in a Location two hours out from the big city as well as the state cApitol to the west, and serving an auDience that may be commuting to and fro each Spot throughout the morning.3 points

Michael Estime to leave WKYC around May according to FTVLive. That same article also touched on the station's ratings problems in February:3 points

I used to work there for many years. Not anymore. The downstairs control room came later after the ABC News Now launch in 2004. Before that, it was a conference room where the execs and producers had their 9 am meeting. It was called the "Crazy Eddie room." And yes, there were monitors in the room too.2 points

I'm thinking the same thing. If and/or when that starts, then those Talkback 16 segments will be must watch lol...2 points

Even as a local it makes me wonder how Scranton, of all markets, gets to keep its signature sound, but all the others stations needed to toe the corporate line. Is WNEP that special?2 points
-
I'm willing to bet that they are gonna only change the graphics and keep the music.2 points

I don't know if anybody know this, but today marks the 30th anniversary of KCAL 9 News (Prime 9 News).1 point

Well, can’t say we all didn’t see that coming.1 point

The circular desk is back and the "horizontal striped" desk is gone tonight. Norah also is standing at the beginning of the broadcast.1 point

Atlantic University Sport really likes Fox's old NFL scoreboard. In fact it's rather interesting to see on basketball...1 point

And on top of that, KCBS copied their news intro from CBS This Morning.1 point

The station is right downtown. There is no room for a helipad. Tune airport was the best option.1 point

Got more Albany goodies, here is a commercial break from February 1994 from WNYT, making me assume the now-current logo design debuted much earlier than I thought:1 point

I think it's a better fit here than the crazy over the top 3D package the Troika look replaced.1 point

That's what I've been told, too. The new website and app will launch in early April. My WBNS source wouldn't say outright, but seemingly implied the new stuff is coming soon.1 point
-
WBNS's current look is only just 3 years old for them that is young. I think they DON'T want to not break the machine in Columbus. WBNS is a beast in the market but not so much lately with WSYX and WCMH gaining on them fast... If Claps and Boops come to Columbus it will be interesting to say the least with Nexstar might want to do some new graphics for WCMH soon... (RUMOR AND SPECULATION from That source I said earlier. but I discount it hard) and WSYX actually putting up a competent news operation in Columbus. WTHR would probably go before WBNS in a lot of things.1 point
-
I wonder what the hold up is? Is it because WTHR and WBNS decided to join WNEP in the fight to protect their imagery and things that made them so successful for so long or is it something else?1 point

It'll be a three hour special in prime time two weeks from now and cause all life in SWB and the Lehigh Valley to come to a halt.1 point

WCSH/WLBZ kept "Good News" for their storm coverage, otherwise it's bleep-bloop all the way.1 point

Maybe no one else put their foot down. I mean, there is always going to be that station that goes a different route.1 point

None of that popping Sixeme theme (that their new sister station down 95 in DC uses....)1 point

That's probably a safe bet. I think that's what's going to happen also.1 point

I'm not seeing any indication WTVF itself has damage, despite the panic on the air. Undoubtedly based on the path the tornado came really close, or perhaps lifted over them.1 point

Just within the past several days, BTM0815MA has uploaded some of the best videos on YouTube. In fact, it is a channel that I visit everyday. I want to share this video with all of you from that user. Be sure you watch at 29:05, because you are in for a treat. At 29:05, you get to see the entire WTVF evening news intro from 1980 using TuesdayC by Tuesday Productions.1 point

Surprised that WGNO didn't opt for "Mardi Gras with a Twist".... Meanwhile over in Mobile, the "real" home of Mardi Gras, WPMI and WALA went with 4 hours of coverage from 10 to 2, and WKRG did their annual 9 to 5 coverage.1 point

Wow. I enjoyed watching Christine when I lived in Charlotte as she and John Carter made a great team. Looking forward to seeing her on FOX 5!1 point

WJRT from 1987 and a theme that sounds a lot like Newschannel: WRGB introduces closed captioned news: KCAL looks back on its first year of Prime 9 News: KEZI from 1977!1 point

BTM0815MA has been on a tear when it comes to rare news uploads. This leads me to most of a **RARE** WITN newscast from December 31st, 1980. And if you are a Weather Channel viewer, you may recognize this former OCM (on-camera meteorologist).1 point

Behind the scenes at Thames News. Going in, you might expect something special, even whimsical, in the news gathering process at the legendary Thames Television in London. If that's the case, prepare to be disappointed; Thames made news exactly the same way as, say, WSAZ or KFVS did here, stateside. I guess that's supposed to be expected; no point in reinventing the wheel.1 point

Yeah, that's the exact TVbD demo I had in mind myself. Tried to submit the theme to the NMSA twice, nothing came of it (though the WJXT and WFSB opens on the reel did get added fairly recently). There is also this...1 point
-
Our source needs a capture card, but apparently WDIV ran through news opens like candy in the early 80's... As seen on the first TVbD demo, they had a different open by 1983 but this music stuck around as a bumper. And all that, in turn, was gone by 1984...1 point

Speaking of KCRG, Bruce Aune’s last newscast is tomorrow. Bruce is retiring after 34 years at KCRG.0 points

I would imagine they are keeping the music for now. They don't want to overwhelm their viewers with too much change, after all. C-Clarity will probably start to creep into the shows little by little.0 points

I won't be surprised if that happens either. Honestly, MCTYW doesn't work well with the graphics at all. Kind of annoying, actually.-1 points
