  1. It wasn't funny when it was a fake on YouTube, and it's not funny now. Reporters are trying to do their jobs, and creeps like this make it that much harder for them. Hopefully he's found and charged seven different ways to Sunday. Do these people not realize they're on tape?!

  3. Judging from this promo, it was in May of 1987 when KOVR debuted Earwitness News: Don't think theres much or any of KGTV from this era: This KOA-TV newscast was also among Pannoni's uploads today: As well as KDKA's coverage of the Challenger explosion:

  5. I would love to know what these fools are thinking when they pull this crap. Hopefully he is charged. This is disgusting and infuriating.

  6. Yep. He was also banned from future races by local sports council that sponsored same race he participated. He claimed on 'Inside Edition' he wanted to call attention to reporter by 'tap her on the shoulder or the back'. His hand appeared to touch lower than either. He also claimed he didn't know where the reporter was as he ran quickly past her. mmm-hmm. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/runner-accused-groping-reporter-during-live-tv-broadcast-charged-sexual-n1102146 BTW, whoever created that juvenile + sick acronym inspiring f*ckboys like 'it' to display as such just to impress your friends online needs some beating. If that beating proves fatal, so be it. Why is that SHIT still a thing when that's as old as FTW + baba booey? Seriously. That's assault itself before unwanted touching. As for 'it' above, you made your bed, you lie in it. If that defines you for next 20 years, oh well, internet is forever. If that affects your job prospects and/or future relationships down the road, that protects future employers + suitors respectively. Deal.

  7. He should take a cue from the guy who slapped the reporter’s ass a few months ago. Didn’t they arrest and charge him with battery sexual assault?

  8. My god. Really? This is still happening? If there's a brightside to this, at least there's very clear images of this idiot which will make it very easy for police to capture him and whoever he's working for to essentially fire him.

  10. What this part says is that Sinclair cannot apply for "assignment or transfer of control" (broad enough to include any purchase or divestiture of a station) without the applications being approved by Sinclair's legal team, and that any such application must also be accompanied by a certification from the designated Compliance Officer enforcing compliance of this order, stating that the application is accurate and that it's following all applicable laws. They must also submit an explanation as to why it was certified accurate and lawful. So, in other words, for the next few years, any time they buy or sell a station, they will need to certify that they are following the rules and not trying to pull a fast one on the FCC. The text applicable to the retransmission agreements is:

  12. This is a bunch of nothing, really. The two largest parts of the Consent Decree deals with sponsorship identification and retransmission negotiations. Basically: Sinclair must have their lawyers review all applications to the FCC, and said lawyers must certify them to be compliant with all communication laws. Sinclair must set up policies to ensure sponsored content is properly labeled as sponsored (they are not the first broadcaster to end up with an FCC Consent Decree with this included) Sinclair is not allowed to see, or be involved with, retransmission negotiations for stations they do not outright own (i.e. they are not allowed to see or know about the agreements negotiated by Deerfield Media stations)

  14. Not a video... but noteworthy since it's an audio recording of a 1973 KTVU newscast open (with Move Closer to Your World), followed by a recording of a KRON open at 3:25 with an unknown theme, and then KPIX (which did not have a theme) at 29:45: https://archive.org/details/cueth_000413

  15. May she rest in peace... this is the newscast that's closest to my birth date online (I was born the day before) so this is cool to see. On a random search in the Web Archive, I found some interesting WJZ Stuff: https://archive.org/details/WJZ-EYE-002-019 - December 17, 1977 Eyewitness News - Oprah's not happy about something before she does her tease, one of the last news opens with the "WJZ 1975 News Theme" https://archive.org/details/WJZ-EYE-002-018 - December 19, 1977 Eyewitness News - The noon newscast here is the last with the theme, which features a long close. The debut of a new set and a new theme (Telesound's "Number Thirteen") is midway through the video.

  17. IMO, Sinclair should have been fined more than that, as well as lose ownership licenses to stations they owned and/or forced to sell some or a few stations.

  18. No. You can still be creative while expressing today's design languages. Having 3D elements doesn't make it a guarantee that it'll be "creative" if one doesn't understand how its supposed to work with the design.

  19. I'd like Anthony Mason in the Evening News chair. Anyway, it doesn't make sense for the EN anchor to do double-duty at 60 - it's as if they never learned from the Dan Rather debacle.

  21. Given the HUGE success CBS is having with ratings growth in the morning - maybe utilizing the same same studio at night will bring that same good mojo to the evening show. It also helps create some symmetry within the CBS News product.

  22. I agree with this. 57 is a great studio and the Evening News does do a nice job utilizing the various video elements there but I still get that temporary solution feel.

  23. Sure, let's throw away a legacy news product in the largest media market in the country in favor of outsourced newscasts. Get real, that's not happening.

  24. Kaity and Brenda would have been a great team at 5pm and Tamsen and John at 6 and 10. I don't understand why are they holding on to Tamsen? Anyway I am sorry to see Brenda go.

  25. The "select people" is prioritizing who will be let back in the building first. Departments such as sales wouldn't be as important as allowing anchors or meteorologists or technical staff back in building first. The "never going to let some people back in" applies more to possibly allowing (emphasizing that) some people at a later date to permanently work from home. Should this happen would these people be forced to permanently stay home and work? Well, I can't see how that could be possible as for some having a physical office space is much more practical.

  26. Tegna CEO Dave Lougee released a 21 minute video to employees discussing the status of their COVID operations and answer employee questions. Personnel will be allowed back in building on a market-by-market basis, and even then only for select people. He doesn't foresee any future furloughs or change to employee benefits. He also hinted that some people may be allowed to work from home permanently, but that wouldn't be decided until a much later undetermined date. Give Tegna slack for what you want, but they have done an excellent job being transparent with their employees about what the company's philosophy and approach to this crisis is. That's certainly a lot more than some other companies have done or would ever do.

  27. Gaynor Hall was basically assaulted during a live shot tonight at 10 by a guy shouting FHRITP (that’s still a thing in 2020?) Hopefully the police were called, WGN should press charges against this creep.
