Are you all watching the same show that I am? The reporting is in depth and layered and smart. They have great chemistry and the set is stunning.6 points

Top Ten things we copied from our competitors... 10) Giant video walls 9) location, baby! 8- Giving former Co-Anchors the "Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien" treatment 7) A newfound appreciation for Smooth Jazz 6) Outdated references to bits from retired CBS programs 5) That DJ we found leftover from the TRL days at Viacom 4) Paint everything orange- that got the Today Show 5 points, right? 3) Hey look! We got an couch from IKEA too! 2) Retired NFL players make great anchors! 1) Sure Willard wore a dress, but we gave Tony a fun hat! All possible sarcasm in the jokes is implied.5 points

After 53 years in the industry. 40 years in the San Francisco, Oakland and San Jose market. 30 years at ABC7, Wayne Freedman is retiring. KGO just did a piece about him and his on air goodbye. This is a big loss following another reporter, Vic Lee who left last year after 50 years in the industry starting at KRON and the last 15 years at KGO.1 point

No offense to you but I really wish people would come off of this “smart” stuff especially when using it to ridicule the other shows. The first hour of each network morning show is full of news and investigative reporting, yes it descends into crap at 8 a.m. but CBS second hour isn’t exactly what it’s first hour is either. Lipstick on a pig is still a pig.1 point

WNDU (NBC) 16's top story about Quincy Newspapers switching the ABC affiliate WSJV 28 to the Fox network (now currently H&I), forcing ABC onto the then low-power station W58BT 58 (now WBND-LD 57). The story was filmed live at the Concorde Mall, a once-popular, now-defunct shopping mall in South Bend, Indiana, on October 18, 1995: It may have given South Bend, Indiana a new Fox affiliate, although ABC expressed displeasure with it, because it was another excuse to air Chicago Bears NFL football games... ...but... ...in retaliation for Quincy Newspapers switching WSJV 28 to the Fox network from ABC in South Bend, Indiana, another ABC affiliate, WREX-TV 13 in Rockford, Illinois, had been forced to switch to NBC, forcing the ABC affiliation onto WTVO 17:1 point

That was all I could think of when they said that on CBS Mornings. I can't wait for Gayle King's Top 10 Lists to debut.1 point

I have four hours of KIMA Yakima taped on 9/11, but it's only Dan Rather (no local cut-ins). There were occasional crawls with closure info and phone numbers for the American Red Cross and various other organizations. Other than that, I have 8 hours of CNN taped that day, which is all archived on YouTube anyways. My recording begins about a minute before the first tower went down. Remember that this was Pacific time, and there weren't a lot of people rushing to find a tape at 5:50 in the morning when the first breaking news cut-ins went off.1 point

In addition to Jose moving to 10AM, the 10AM hour will be based out of the Telemundo Center in Miami and he will leave the anchor position at Noticias Telemundo, but will remain hosting specials1 point

As I was watching David Murphy's tribute for the morning broadcast, it really is an accomplishment that the morning team of Matt, Tam, David, and Karen have been together for 17 years. And IIRC, they were the permanent team that succeeded Rick, Monica, and Cecily in the mornings. Here's the link of David Murphy's retirement on 6abc.com: https://6abc.com/david-murphy-retiring-is-when-action-news-retirement/10971435/ And David Murphy's last broadcast at noon today was posted by PhillyNewsLover's YT Channel, with tributes from other members of the AccuWeather team.1 point

I came THIS CLOSE to rechristening the thread as CBS Early This Mornings News Show. Oh, and the lower thirds suck. The rest of everything is solid.1 point

In a pretty lengthy interview with Deadline, MSNBC President Rashida Jones said that Rachel Maddow's show "will continue as she's doing it now." Jones seems to be positioning Maddow's new contract as one that allows Maddow to expand her interests while keeping her nightly gig. https://deadline.com/2021/09/msnbc-president-rashida-jones-interview-rachel-maddow-future-network-plans-1234823243/1 point

Hey noggi that's a really neat book you have there from 1980 on old local TV news sets from around the country! Can you scan off and post a picture of the old news set for WAGA-TV in Atlanta, GA from that book? Would love to see it if possible and it would be wonderfully appreciated!!!1 point
