  2. Also WGN, early 1980, with an open I (and surely most of you) have NEVER seen before...

  4. Thing is when NBC sold the station in 2006, the Telemundo stations were operated independent of any NBC O&Os, they merged many operations later on. The sale was more of NBC getting out of smaller markets, essentially reversing the merger with Outlet 10 years earlier. NBC does not operate any fully English speaking duopolies. Even here in the NY area, most of Telemundo' 47s operations are completely separate from WNBC. It is not the same as CBS owning WCBS and WLNY. At the time when Nexstar bought MG, it was mentioned a key driver in Providence was that both WNAC and WPRI carried Sunday football, which was a major money maker. It outweighed WJAR's then significant dominance in news. Sadly, Nexstar sold WJAR to one of the worst options out there.

  5. I find I can no longer watch them. It's the little comments and other stories pushing Sincrap's agenda. The mostly young untested talent. When I visit RI at least monthly, I have to watch another station for news or stream my local NBC flagship station. Too many watch WJAR out of habit, and its time they get a new habit.

  6. Show sucks now. Used to watch the hard news CBS This Morning when it relaunched in 2012 and kept watching through to 2016ish. When they started making unnecessary changes to the show, including format, anchors, music and graphics even, things started to go downhill. I wanted to give this latest incarnation a chance, I really did, but this show is total crap. Gayle is more aggravating every day and Nate doesn’t look comfortable (none of them do). The random bits and silliness really take away from their mission. And I imagine viewers are tuning out in droves too.

  7. WNDU (NBC) 16's top story about Quincy Newspapers switching the ABC affiliate WSJV 28 to the Fox network (now currently H&I), forcing ABC onto the then low-power station W58BT 58 (now WBND-LD 57). The story was filmed live at the Concorde Mall, a once-popular, now-defunct shopping mall in South Bend, Indiana, on October 18, 1995: It may have given South Bend, Indiana a new Fox affiliate, although ABC expressed displeasure with it, because it was another excuse to air Chicago Bears NFL football games... ...but... ...in retaliation for Quincy Newspapers switching WSJV 28 to the Fox network from ABC in South Bend, Indiana, another ABC affiliate, WREX-TV 13 in Rockford, Illinois, had been forced to switch to NBC, forcing the ABC affiliation onto WTVO 17:

  8. Are you all watching the same show that I am? The reporting is in depth and layered and smart. They have great chemistry and the set is stunning.

  11. After they've spent years re-integrating Viacom back into the fold, I don't see that happening.

  12. Yep! Exactly. CBS has lost control. I honestly think it's time for National Amusements to sell. It's a mess.

  13. gotcha -- would this explain why WFOR and WJW hasn't switched or "blended" what other stations have been using??

  15. The new team has been in place for all of [looks at clock] 6 days. Could we keep the unfounded speculation to a dull (nonexistent) roar?
