  4. From the press release: “WISN 12 News at 4:00 p.m." has a distinct focus on breaking news and the very latest on stories and events happening in neighborhoods across Milwaukee and all of Southeastern Wisconsin.” So… what the hell are they doing in their other shows then?

  7. The anchors (both this morning and evening) are on the set but have gone back to social distancing since the NY Covid Alert Level has gone to Medium. The forecasts will come from the green screen and Otis is doing sports remotely from home.

  8. Yeah I noticed that as well; she's still in the remote studio for the 11PM. I noticed that they also went back (once again) to social distancing protocols at the desk as of last week sometime.

  10. First Tornado watch is issued and bye bye jazz music. Indeed the alert music is playing. Looks like TWC en Español is using all the same music and graphics as the OG TWC from what little I saw of the stream. I was half hoping for today with the TWC en Español launch that they might do a graphics update across the board. They've been using the same graphics since 2013 with some updates here and there. While they have aged well I feel like now would have been a good time to do nice big update on the 40th anniversary.

  11. I feel like the storm alert music is overused now. I remember when it was just for Storm Alert for hurricanes. I get sever snow storms or a huge outbreak but I feel they use it to use it sometimes. Also, I'm totally loving the jazz music back for the local on the 8s. I miss that. The only thing that stinks is the forecasts are only 1 min now and it was cool to have the longer 2 min flavors of the music back in the day.

  12. I wonder if they're bringing back the smooth jazz permanently? So many great memories of old-school TWC. So much better than the generic music they've used for close to 10 years.

  14. Vanessa is a class act and the most caring person I've ever had the pleasure of meeting and working with when I interned at WFTV. She was always there to help you and teach you new things, she was there to brighten your day if you had a not so good day. I know she will be missed by many in the Orlando market. Enjoy your retirement Vanessa you deserve it!!!

  15. If that one-size-fits-all Gray ticker wasn’t in the way, I’d be fine with the look; in fact, the WMC package looks like something that Raycom would have done back in the day.

  16. I think MSNBC’s decision to have Rachel do her show only on Mondays is a clever business strategy for ratings. Viewers would take her for granted less. It’s all about supply and demand. Take away supply and demand will skyrocket. If she only appears once a week, MSNBC viewers will feel more incentivized to watch on days when she does. Where they once might go “I wanna watch Maddow but there’s this great movie on HBO tonight so think I’ll just watch her tomorrow” will figure “hey, Rachel only airs once a week. I can watch this movie anytime on Netflix. I’ll just watch Maddow then.”

  17. Mark made it clear in multiple interviews he’s done with the biz, in addition to that he sent his message across stating that he will NEVER forgive her and forget what went down.

  19. One TWC Expert didn't stick around for the big 40th anniversary. Turns out Mark Elliot departed in late March to take an off-air job at AT&T. I've noticed a trend since Entertainment Studios took over; they haven't been hiring/replacing any of the Experts that have left TWC. When NBC was in charge, they hired and promoted an absurd number of experts, especially around like 2014-2015 when they first debuted The Lab. Now only Dr. Rick Knabb, Dr. Greg Postel, and Carl Parker still remain. All three of them are now used as pseudo show hosts at this point. Dr. Knabb is a host on Weather Underground; Dr. Postel is a host on Weekend Recharge and fills in Wednesday-Friday mornings as needed, and Carl Parker hosts extended coverage hours during severe weather. Entertainment Studios definitely wants to streamline their on-air positions and doesn't see the value in having Experts that aren't also hosting shows. Also, this afternoon on Weather Underground, they did a quiz question of "How many hurricane experts has TWC had in its history?" The answer they provided was three: John Hope, Dr. Steve Lyons, and Dr. Rick Knabb. I think they literally wrote Bryan Norcross out of their network's history because he's working for the competitor now.

  20. One, it wasn't MSNBC's decision. It was hers. Two, one day a week doesn't help your ratings on the other four which will tank. Consistency is all that works. Being on one day a week also will hurt her own ratings on Monday but she doesn't care. She just doesn't want to be responsible for what is going to occur to the Democrat Party in the midterms.
